It seems every other post mentions "the coming NY/NJ" war like it's a given... unless Chase has specifically hinted at this, could this be a case of collective wishfull thinking?

I have nothing against the propect of a war, but I am having something of a hard time imagining that with 8 eps left, Chase would want the last stretch to be colored with events in such a conflict with the basic premise of the show.

Funny, the 1st season or 2 was al about the war between Tony and Junior.

How many people are going to be upset if there is no was between NY/NJ?

I totally expected a war between NJ and the Russian Mob, well that went no where fast!

I would like to see a poll regarding the Vito story.
Every single person I talk to that were fans of the show and most including me cancel and reorder HBO subscriptions according to the Sopranos are dissappointed in this season. Its almost like all the good characters are gone and the ones that are left are getting weak story lines ( Chris, Pauly, Sil, Meadow, Arte) when they do get a little air time. Even Tony and Carmilla have been reduced to boring, Paris? Yikes

I think a lot of folks see Vito like they see Janis, a bunch of bloat in the story that could have been cut down to part of one episode and get the same results. We find the Sopranos a good time to get those quicky chores close to the theater done and wait for Big Love. This would have been unheard of the first couple seasons.

My vote goes to the boring, weak, aint what it used to be, side of things.

If you're Canceling HBO when Sopranos Ends you never get to see Deadwood, Rome, Bill Maher,Big Love, Curb You Enthusiasm, HBO Has a lot of great other shows as well.

My favorite line was from Chris after they found out Vito had been violated with a pool que after being beaten to death.

"Lover's quarrel maybe?"

Not much longer. Deadwood will be done for good in Sept. Rome, will see its final season around March. Curb Your Enthusiasm is possibly done.

HBO is changing, and it is for the worse.

Re: SOPRANOS Season 6: New this week.. Episode 11: "Cold Stone"

Exactly Justin. I think Deadwood is a big eye opener for everyone. Seeing Carnivale get dumped was disappointing. The second season was so good. But I dearly love Deadwood and I gotta say seeing it cancelled will really hurt. I dont think its a exaggeration to say "why invest in future shows?" if the possibilty exists that theyll bail on them. The whoel point is great programming that you dont get on network tv and that you dont have to worry about being cancelled becuase of poor ratings.

HBO has to do another season of Rome but its more than twice Deadwoods budget. Think Rome (which I found to be underwhelming and disappointing) will see a 3rd season?

I do like Curb and find Big Love to be just ok. If I see it I do, if I dont I dont. And I cant see Big Love going past a few seasons anyway.

I enjoy Bill Maher and Entourage, but would rather save my money and then get Entourage on DVD.
The only reason for me to keep HBO is for boxing. I signed the pledge and am really seriously giving it up if they dont renew Deadwood. A neighbor is a boxing fan and said I can alway go there to watch it or he can tape boxing for me.

Re: SOPRANOS Season 6: New this week.. Episode 11: "Cold Stone"

big love's finale coincides with the sopranos, so you won't miss it if you cancel. we only watch it because it comes on after the sopranos, we've seen every episode, but it doesn't hold our interest that well.

I also only watch BIG LOVE because it is after the SOPRANOS. I will never own the DVDs in the future.

Once the SOPRANOS, ROME, DEADWOOD, and CURB YOUR ENTHUSIASM end then the only reason for me to keep HBO would be for ENTOURAGE and the boxing.

Just like Jon, I signed the pledge and will not keep my HBO once the 3rd season of DEADWOOD ends (Which really sucks after seeing the amazing new preview). I will probably sign back up for the SOPRANOS and ROME, which will probably run into each other, and then I will cancel for good.

I will just watch boxing at my brother's place and buy the DVDs of ENTOURAGE.

The only other thing that would get me to sign back up in the future would be the mini series, THE PACIFIC WAR...then I would cancel again after its conclusion.

I am watching the finale right now...the girl that AJ likes from his work site is nothing but TROUBLE. I can't wait to see where this goes.

I dated a girl just like her and it was a nightmare...

I love this show and will miss it. Maybe I'm alone, but I liked this semi-finale, still leaves much to play with next year. With an hour to end this last season, how much could have really happened anyway? Those wanting more blod will be disappointed, I was expecting this kind of ending, ansd ended up about where I thought it would.

I kept expecting Christopher to get whacked while sitting in the restaurant towards the end. Glad it didn't happen.

I thought the same thing and was also relieved when it didn't happen. Although I have a hard time imagining that things are going to turn out well for Christopher. He just seems too hell-bent on destroying himself and unless he really turns it around and soon, he's just going to run out of time before he runs out of stupid and dangerous.

Joe

Re: SOPRANOS Season 6: Season Finally!!!.. Episode 12: "KAISHA"

If you look at the history of Season's finale's they were all like this. Although this was'nt really a season ender. They always have an episode that is high on action like 2 weeks ago then they finish off quietly. Remember Pussy got whacked the episode before the season ender. TI knew everyone would hate it as it was character driven. Do you think it's quite possible that instead of a War, the likes of Tony Soprano and Phil could work out their differences by finding a common ground among maladies. Tony came to a decision after talking to FBI Man Roberts that he would make the gesture. Phil's crying showed that phil finally may have had an epiphany of Understanding. Meanwhile Tony might have race issues with Aj's new love interest but I think both he and Carm saw that at least he was taking some responsibility, AJ dealing with the thugs with his Bike rather than Violence shows How different he is from his father. Instead of Bitching about not seeing enough Decapitated Heads (Hey we saw one) I just sit back and appreciate the great writing of this show and appreciate the characters, that despite they reprehensible nature, Chase has gotten us to care about. There's just so much little of that left on tv.

Now Saddle up and Bring on Deadwood you *&^Suckers.

Re: SOPRANOS Season 6: Season Finally!!!.. Episode 12: "KAISHA"

I loved this episode. It was great seeing Tony hoping that Phil will learn to stop and smell the roses after his heart attack. I'm sure alot of people wanted to see Tony shoot Phil in the face or singlehandedly kill the entire New York family but it was nice to see Tony's growth, over the months that this season took place, put to the test. The stuff with Juliana and Christopher seems like it'll go interesting places. And the end with everyone sitting around and enjoying Christmas was a real nice way to close the season.

How many TV shows have their characters freebase heroin and watch Vertigo?

Me three. While the episode was generally "boring" I thought they created a pretty decent atmosphere with some high tension (which is exceptional considering virtually nothing was happening).

I really liked that aspect. First time I liked an AJ subplot since he had to pull out of military school due to panic attacks.

I really like the fact that Tony is compelled to change (and in some cases does), but his persona alone creates obstacles (the NY family gunning for Tony). He may have been celebrating Phil's heart-attack, but he better hope he makes it, otherwise his ass is getting whacked.

Everyone's true colors come through tonight. Carmella choosing money/lifestyle over her moral pursuits (finding Ade)...AJ choosing compromise over violence (and later choosing to spend his own money rather than take something gained by un-ethical means)...Chris and Juliana enabling each other to use again...etc. I would have liked to see more about Paulie considering his arch this season (mainly the thing with his "mother").

My mom asked me what I thought of the episode afterward and I said. "interesting." I stick by that...it wasn't particularly fun to watch or exciting, but it provided some further insight into already very three-dimensional characters.

Overall, a good season. Not as good as last year, IMO (which was stellar), but good.

Re: SOPRANOS Season 6: Season Finally!!!.. Episode 12: "KAISHA"

anyone else really jarred by this sudden subplot of Chris banging the suddenly-a-drug-addict real estate person Tony wanted? That just came out of nowhere. and also, did it seem to me that they were REALLY abrupt with the way they just suddenly started smoking crack again? they went from Valerian tea to smoking crack in the very next scene. Didn't really make sense.

but I enjoyed most of the rest of the episode. not the best of the season at all, but still good. some insanely hot women in this ep, too.

Re: SOPRANOS Season 6: Season Finally!!!.. Episode 12: "KAISHA"

Ya know, I mainly just read these posts and agree or disagree, but this episode just flatly sucked, I.M.O., I was almost wishing Chris was going get whacked. The whole "leaving it at Christmas, everybody happy" shit just did not do it for me.

Re: SOPRANOS Season 6: Season Finally!!!.. Episode 12: "KAISHA"

What was the deal when Chris and Julianna were sitting in the diner? She was acting strange as hell and for a minute I thought she was gonna pull out a gun and blow him away. That sure would've been a plot twist, if she was working with the guys from NY. Unfortunately it just turned out to be another odd scene in what was a very sub-par season of The Sopranos.

Re: SOPRANOS Season 6: Season Finally!!!.. Episode 12: "KAISHA"

Not really a season finale since because of the circumstances, but it was a let down.

I did get a good laugh out of AJ having to pay off the street hoods to go away instead of standing up to them. I thought he was grabbing a tire iron or bat to fight...and he just grabbed his expensive bike...lol.

I also thought Chris was a done for, but it is obvious they are saving all the heat for the final episodes.

I have gotten tired of huge, new plot elements suddenly introduced and covered in ONE episode instead of being spread out over several episodes. This is one huge factor that has hurt the show since the first 2 season, IMO.

That member of Phil's crew who got in Tony's face had me thinking we would see the beginning of the war tonight with the look on Tony's face as he walked away, but HBO ended this up and down season on a quiet note.

I thought that too, especially with the earlier scene where Phil blocked the hit on Tony in favour of someone else. Added a good amount of tension.

She could still be working for Phil (or, maybe more likely now, the Feds).

I kind of enjoyed this season more than most of the previous ones.
The coma-dream plotline, and the Vito plotline, both of which went on for much too long, let down all the surrounding stories. imho!
Less Junior is never good. Glad to see him back in the finale, a little more of his old self too.

It'll be very interesting to see how this series ends - with a bang, or a whimper. It could go either way I think. Maybe a couple of episodes of war, and then reconcilliatory, melancholic reflection for the remainder. That wouldn't surprise me.

Re: SOPRANOS Season 6: Season Finally!!!.. Episode 12: "KAISHA"

I think we can rule out a war. It's going to end resolving the Characters to some degree, I think Tony will end up back where he began, it's possible the conflict will come from Phil's Junior guy who seemed to be giving Tony all sorts of grief.

Re: SOPRANOS Season 6: Season Finally!!!.. Episode 12: "KAISHA"

Best part of the episode was when Tony goes to Phil and tells him "we can have it all." It was a great moment, showing not only the growth of the character, but presenting an explanation for the relative calm we've seen this year. In a way, it's also Chase's response to the bloodthirsty "who gets whacked next?" crowd.

Re: SOPRANOS Season 6: Season Finally!!!.. Episode 12: "KAISHA"

no way juliana works for the feds. A fed will not smoke heroin and have sex with a criminal like that.

Now the girl AJ is having sex with MIGHT be the feds, she knew his age and everything *yea I know she is HR, but come on* Also she can have sex with AJ cause he has not done anything illegal and is not under suspicion and is getting close to him, where Christopher obviously is connected.

Re: SOPRANOS Season 6: Season Finally!!!.. Episode 12: "KAISHA"

Hmmm...very good character driven "season finale" but I was hoping to see a little more something happen. I mean, isn't the best stuff usually reserved for season finales and you're left with your jaw open? Didn't get that feeling here.

Best scene was the "sit down" between NY and NJ with little Carmine intermediating. He had to mention Phil's brother, lol.

Here's to hoping the last 8 episodes help this TV show go out with a bang. It'd be a shame if it didn't (and I'm not necesarily referring to hardcore violence).
