Did anyone notice that most of the "previously on" was Vito, Vito, Vito and then the episode barely touched on him?
It seems like the Previously Ons are now just if you missed last episode. As opposed to refreshing your memory on events that will pertain to this episode.

I liked at the end with Artie cooking. It seems like he is starting to realize that's what he loves. Just being in the kitchen creating good food.

Re: SOPRANOS Season 6: New this week.. Episode 7: "Luxury Lounge"

I think what they were trying to show is how the sopranos team has to steal all the stuff while these rich guys get it for free.

Hopefully he'll stay in the kitchen for the rest of the season because last night's episode gave me enough Artie to last awhile and even though I thought there was a little too much focus on him I really did enjoy the episode overall. The stuff with Christopher and Little Carmine was hillarious and Tony, Phil, etc. were all great as usual. The show seems to have hit a good stride after a shaky start and I'm really looking forward to seeing how it all plays out.

Re: SOPRANOS Season 6: New this week.. Episode 7: "Luxury Lounge"

Funny episode.

The rabbit getting shot had me rolling on the ground because just before he got capped, my girlfriend says "aww...the cute bunny..." bam...gonzo.

Artie beating the tar out of Benny was hilarious also. Poor Benny can't stop getting his ass kicked.

The look Chris gave Ben Kingsley in the airplane over the seat was priceless also.

I loved Tony's line of "everyone knows Little Carmine is a diagnosed retard."

"Law & Order: The SUV"
Yeah, that had me laughing like crazy. That and Chris grabbing that hooker's breasts and saying ..."those are some great tits!", LOL.

You know...Lauren Bacall took that punch like a champ.

Re: SOPRANOS Season 6: New this week.. Episode 7: "Luxury Lounge"

Lines of the week:

(Subtitle during Artie's staff meeting): "I'd like to stick my **** between those ****"

"We lead the world in database search technology!"

Every time Lauren Becall said ****.

Nobody held a gun to her head. (At least I don't think so. ) She was offered the role and she took it. And I suspect she had fun doing it. And let's not forget that once upon a time she was Bogie's baby and used to pal around with Sinatra. Somehow I think she's heard (and used) the F-bomb more than any of us. Her cameo certainly didn't shock me, nor does it shatter my image of her as a great star. She remains a great star as far as I'm concerned - and also a great broad in the best possible sense of the word. And a broad can hold her drinks, light her own cigarette when she has to and user the F-word when the circumstances require it. A great broad can do all of that and never stop being a lady.

Ladies and gentlemen, I offer you a toast:

To Betty Becall - a great f***ing broad; one of the last of a dying breed!

Regards,

Joe

Re: SOPRANOS Season 6: New this week.. Episode 7: "Luxury Lounge"

Not an entirely bad episode...but did we really need an entire episode about Artie? Especially when we're coming down the homestretch. Sometimes I get the feeling David Chase is running out of ideas...

Re: SOPRANOS Season 6: New this week.. Episode 7: "Luxury Lounge"

I agree with the comments about Artie cooking. Just as he got going, they ended it. I was kinda looking forward to seeing him present the dish and having a moment of pureness, back to the roots. Nothing's wrong with being a fabu cook, nothing at all. Especially with this crowd, you cook up a mean plate and they'll take care of YOUR problems for you.

Echo the other comments about Artie getting away with mouthing off to Tony. Anyone else, not good. Artie's Artie, and gets away with it ... without even thinking on it at that. Really hope he doesn't keep it up though; I don't want to see Tony make Artie an object lesson. Tony laying into his beefy driver is one thing; Tony having to make Artie see reality would be necessary, but sad. Don't make Tony slap you one Artie!

Restaurant fire comments had me rolling though, as did the bunny. Bunny was awesome.

Three words: Bogie dream sequence!

I don't much like the CGI-assisted exhumations of past greats, but Bogie as Sam Spade straightening out Chris a bit? That would be great.

With Chris in the "Wilmer the Gunsel" role, having his guns taken and getting slapped by Bogie.

another perfect example of poor quality. no wonder chase convinced the suits @ HBO to give him a pseudo- "Season 7" in '07 to wrap things up. he's screwing around and not wrapping ANYTHING up. i thought artie was gonna get it, chris was gonna fall apart, paulie angry, silvo asthma, etc. the whole gang is just coming apart @the seams, but isntead... it's just artie wtf?

Re: SOPRANOS Season 6: New this week.. Episode 7: "Luxury Lounge"

dunno if people have the DVD, but i just netflixed season1's bonus disc. peter b. interviewed david chase. it was very insightful on several fronts, the biggest notion that was confirmed is that chase wanted the idea of Sopranos to be a feature film and revolve around mother-son relationship.

unfortunately, after 2 seasons, they could no longer keep doing it, as they had exhausted nearly all exploration of the matriarchy. i believe s3 (as i noted before) is really a blind shot in the dark.

Loved Lauren Bacall in this. A real trooper, she is!

Best line of the night came from Ben Kingsley at the
very end where he's sitting on an airplane and notices
Chris a few seats in front.

Fock!

I just love the way he delivered that line!

Just goes to show the power of the F* bomb ! The great uniter of all classes of people. From a British Knight, to Bogie's 'baby', to a wise-guy from Joisey
BTW if I'm Sir-Ben, the first thing I'm doing is firing my agent for setting up that meeting with those 2

I think the fact that Nancy Marchand died had a lot to do with ending the exploration of the matriarchy.

I've said it before and I'll say it again - If you watch the Sopranos because you think you are going to get everything "wrapped up" in a nice little package, you are watching the wrong show. This should be clear from the second season on, but some people still insist on demanding it and then subsequently criticizing the creator for not providing it. Chase has repeatedly said he is not interested in wrapping up every little detail; so to keep complaining and yet still continue to watch is an exercise in futility (not to mention self-torture). I guess, it is also a testament to the quality of the show that so many can be so disappointed in one of it's basic concepts and yet still be there in front of the tube every Sunday night.

Nope, I'm still convinced that in the series finale, the Mad Russian will finally return with the bear and they will kill all of the Soprano family(s).

Re: SOPRANOS Season 6: New this week.. Episode 7: "Luxury Lounge"

I think most of the storylines following Tony's stay at the hospital are about how the life he leads effects others and how a change of heart doesn't necessarily change any of the individuals around him. It's like how Tony basically said that Life has a way of kicking you in the ass, The things you own, the places you live. Artie is a guy that Tony loves, Tony just wants a guy like that get help. But the background they are from the world they live in that's not gonna happen. Benny didn't care about Artie and his place. There is no respect in the younger generation.

If Tony even wanted to change anything. How would he really? These guys are fossils. They are dinosaurs in the manner of thinking. It makes me thinkg back to Pastor Bob and his speech about Man living together with Dinosaurs. It was funny but I think there was a deeper meaning there.

I think there is always a deeper meaning to just about every aspect of the show.
