With "Dallas" on DVD, why not the one that began it all: "PEYTON PLACE"? - Page 5

Mark-
I read HTF every day, but only post occasionally when it seems appropriate...

I too respect you, and hope you are right that one day we will see more PP... I hope MPI or another company will pick up where Shout left off- The show is brilliant- Captivating actors, engaging storylines, and great camera work- It's everything I wish we had on network television now- It seems those days are gone forever- You and I agree on more than you think Mark!

I believe way back when that I said that I doubted we would see more Peyton Place- That doesn't mean I want it that way, that I don't want to see it happen now- I want it to happen, and I admire your tenacity as you write video companies to pick this up. But it is a huge amount of episodes, and is not as well known as it was even 10 years ago. Ultimately, the sets have to make money for a company to release them. And that bottom line has to be seen with each set produced. I'll buy them, and so will you, and quite a few others- But they have to sell a lot- All I'm saying is that a lot of sets need to be sold.

So keep fighting the good fight- I am for you, NOT against you!!! I want to be wrong on this one- Honest I do!
Or even if they could be "made on demand" (MOD--which I learned from this board!) I would certainly buy every set until I had the complete series! There has to be some way for these episodes to become commercially available--even if it's a niche market! MOD seems to be the answer for a show that has a (relatively) small but devoted following!

I agree with Mark and Jack....all we can do is keep up the good fight. I just feel like no one's listening. confused.giffrown.gif

The info tonight is not all Dallas but Peyton Place. Jack and Tracy and all PP Fan's we all must thank Mr Cliff Mac for the info he provided tonight!!!

Any new progress updates on "Peyton Place" on DVD? Seems things have been quiet for a while? confused.gif

Sadly, it doesn't look like it.

BTW, if people like MatthewA and TVonDVDJunkie05 are to believed, it also turns out that Shout's relationship with Fox, at least as of right now, has completely soured. Fox is charging Shout an outrageous wad of cash just for more episodes of their shows. It disgusts me, as Shout has been nothing short of reasonable with them, and yet Fox still acts like d**** toward them.

I can only hope that the reason Fox is doing this is not because Fox plans on releasing the rest of the shows on their own. It would be terrible if they did. Shout! has done a much better job on the Fox shows than Fox themselves ever would.

Cliff Barnes Returns to the New Dalllas! Can Pam be far behind? We Dallas Fans can only hope.

Dallas star Ken Kercheval has signed up for three episodes of the TNT series revealed TV Guide.

Ken played JR’s long standing arch enemy in the original series and was last seen going off into the sunset with Afton Cooper (Audrey Landers) in the TV movie JR Returns. So it looks like the Barnes Ewing feud is back on as he plays out a pivotal role in the series cliffhanger.

Rumor has it that Cliff is related to one of the Ewing cousin girlfriends. But which one? I guess we will have to wait until Summer 2012 to find out.

The people at Dallas.com had a poll for fans. The poll was some time ago. The question was who would fans like to see come back as a regular on the new Dallas? Pam was the number one choice by a large margin with Lucy as a decent second.

The producers said they did not want to get into the Barnes family again hence the reason Victoria was not asked back.

I hope this news item is an indication they have changed their minds.

Peyton Place I really think cannot be judged by the other shows that Fox and Shout! Factory share rights to. I have said this before. You just do not know who is making the decisions at Fox about what show they will release for what price.

I think Vahan has made some good points. I just feel that the show may be out again on home video. FEELING NOT KNOWLEDGE!!!!

Mr James Finn does read these post's on Fox properties. I think if anyone can influence the powers to be to release the rights of Peyton Place at the offfer Shout has made it would be him.

I am only speaking about Peyton Place. The others shows I think are looked at in a case by case way.

Vahan if you have any inside info and can share please do so. I do not mean just Peyton Place but the other shows your interested in.

Just a thought my friend. Keep up the good fight!

Perhaps if we bug Fox some more, maybe they'll get the hint and stop playing hardball with the little guys.

Here is yet another look at Dallas 2012

http://www.tnt.tv/series/dallas/

I wish we would hear that Fox will soon give Shout! Factory more rights to Peyton Place. I hope that with Dallas returning Fox might see that working with Shout! would be the smart thing to do!!

Hi Fans,

I just could not leave to hear my Peyton Place Bells begin to ring without this comment.

Bobby's wife has an exhusband who is out to stir things up. I find this as great news!!! Victoria now states she would return if given a good script and damn good salary I am sure. How like Dallas to bring Pam back during the season cliff hanger. I say DUMP BRENDA AND GIVE US PAM!!!!!!!

Hey Peyton fans somewhere here are the emails for Fox and Shout so email them both if you want Peyton Place back on home video. Fox might surprise all of us.

Pam's return on the cliffhanger would be phenomenal similar to Alexis' arrival on "DYNASTY", it would make for a great story line to the effect JR had something to do with her disappearance from the hospital and she returns to seek revenge ........ I would vote for Pam's return as Victoria or recast Pamela Sue Martin would also make a great Pam !!
I will only watch the new series if Pam is included !!! Her departure helped with the decline of the series !!!

GREAT NEWS FOR DALLAS FANS!!! PAM WILL RETURN TO SOUTHFORK. http://www.ultimatedallas.com/dallasnews/2011/11/18/victoria-principal-back-in-dallas/

Now if only we could hear that Peyton Place will return to DVD in 2012!!
Hey Mark--

I am as excited about this as you, but it DOES say that they WANT her, and that one source has said she will return at some point in the first season. It's not really a definite yet! Although, I like the idea of positive thinking.

Here's to the distinct possibility that Pam will be back!! It's certainly gives one hope!!

I agree bring back PAM "DALLAS" died the day she left the series........it was bye bye American Pie, the day Pam died !!!!
THAT IS THE ONLY WAY I will watch the new series if PAM RETURNS TO SEEK REVENGE against JR .
Alan you are so right about that. I like what Tracy said and I just have a good feeling about them getting Victoria. Check out the new Dallas Video.http://www.tnt.tv/series/dallas/

Peyton Place resumed by Shout in 2012 well we shall see I guess.

"PP" is returning with new DVDS Mark ?? Sounds too good to be true ?
I thought originally SHOUT had a contract through all THE BW episodes ??
Sorry Alan I did not mean to suggest FOX and Shout had come to terms. I think Pam returning to Dallas would have better odds.

Mark, got to say the new Dallas trailer was a good watch. Not sure about the reworked theme tune though.

Peyton Place/Dallas

Yes Richard and here is the HD version http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d220ZdzdFTQ

Peyton Place news nothing as i said before. Fans can email Shout!Factory to show that you still support more release's from them.http://www.info@shoutfactory.com

The ball really is in the FOX court. Fox Home Entertainment has stated to me on this date 12/14/11 this message.

The fans of any Fox series even if it is a show they have not released themselves such as Peyton Place can email their support.

Here is the email they gave me. http://www.support@foxcustomercare.com

I say as we close out 2011 email these people. The new Dallas is coming and Daytime Soaps are being put on DVD perhaps Peyton Place has a chance.

I just want fans to see how good this show was even after Mia Farrow left.

Happy Holidays to all HTF,

http://www.tnt.tv/series/dallas/
I hope 2012 will bring about a renewed interest in Peyton Place and all the other prime time soaps that other fans want. I think if Dallas 2012 is a huge hit we may see something. I still think wilth soapclassics.com bringing out the P&G soaps it may help the prime time soaps only time will tell.

Here is the open and close music to Return to Peyton Place. I never was able to watch the show and the prints lay deep in the Fox vaults. The show was based on the night time version not the movies. The Cross family however was used in the new series.

Hi Fox program fans,

I read today in the Lost in Space Thread something about bad blood between Fox stuidios and Shout! Factory. I have to go on record that this just is not true. I have in past heard in my push for Peyton Place many good things from both companies.

The door is always open is what I have been told for Peyton Place and I assume any of the Fox shows the two companies have in common.

The home video market is changing and I really think that is the major problem.

CBS lawsuit and all is putting Mannix out because it seems to be catching on really well. I think a great deal has to do with JoAnn and the fans on that thread.

People do read things here. We have had both a FOX VP and a Shout VP post here remember that.

So I still hold out hope for Peyton but I am not JoAnn. I wish I were because maybe I would have influenced people to post and buy the show.

She is a great gal and I always tease her if only you were a Peyton Place fan.

I forgot to add this. I went to a few movies over the holidays and everytime I went in they were just ending a Dallas 2012 preview at my local AMC. I mean everytime. I would have loved to have seen Dallas up on the big screen but i missed the preview every single time. TNT seems to really be getting behind this show. What is up with this new comedy ABC which keeps yelling DALLAS all the time. I wonder if they are trying to get the jump on the real Dallas one is drama the other comedy. Dallas had comedy though. We all loved a good JR put down and all the great into the pool scenes.

Mark, thank god you're not MatthewA or Todd Rutherford. The former had the nerve to claim that "It's possible they may not be allowed to disclose everything that goes on between them and their licensors.", and the latter claimed I was starting an "I hate Shout Factory Bandwagon". The fact that he never apologized for putting words in my mouth, shows what kind of a person he really is.

Some people can be such snobs!
I took these words from the Batman thread and did a substiution with the entities. The words speak to why we do not have Peyton Place on Home Video today.

2Oth Century Fox Home Entertainment and Shout Factory! In fairness, it's not necessarily pure greed on the parts of the entities involved. I doubt it's executives sitting at a conference table twirling their moustaches. They probably all have an idea of what's fair and they can't come to an agreement over it. Of course, yes, this means that no one wins, but if this is the case, in order for this thing to be settled and the show be cleared for release at least one entity would have to accept terms that are unfavorable to what they believe is fair. I'm sure they all know that there is money to be made off the release of the show and it can't be lost on them that it's really not entirely difficult to procure the show on DVD.

TNT LOVES DALLAS!!! GREEN LIGHT FOR MORE EPISODE'S TO SHOOT IN SEPTEMBER!!!

I hope this means they have Pam back.

Come on FOX and SHOUT give us more Peyton PLace!!!
Mark, you don't think David Lambert was exaggerating when he said, and I quote "The first two home video releases sold well enough that Shout! was interested in continuing...", do you?

Hi Vahan,

I always believe any report from Dave. How many years now after the last release of Peyton Place?

20th Century Fox owns the show. Fans should write to them if they want to see the show released.

How many years have I made that request?

2012 is the year for the new Dallas. Dark Shadows makes it to the big screen once again.

Peyton Place remains locked in the Fox Vault. Barnabas Collins had a Willie to let him out of his tomb. Peyton Place does not have such a person at the present time.

Fans enjoy what Shout! Factory gave us.

Dallas will be out in June. The finale will include the Barnes family. I love that hint because Pam might return in that last episode.

So I will enjoy the new Dallas in June and the return of Dark Shadows in May.

HAPPY SPRING TO ALL!!!
I don't want Fox to release any of their older shows on their own on DVD. They have butchered them over and over again, whether it be music substitutions, or scenes missing for no reason.

This is why they're much better off in the hands of indies such as Shout and VCI

And what has Shout done lately in this situation?
Hi Charles, I think everything is at a stand still on this show that lauched a genre. Peyton Fans read what I stated on this great new thread just launched.

Dallas like Dark Shadows is ramping up check them out at TNT.com
