Very enjoyable read.  I also missed this on its

Fun read of the day ... no, week!  Thanks!

I too missed this during its original run -- it was probably during that extended period of time when I only visited sporadically (and was looking for bargains elsewhere).

Since so many have commented on the article itself, I should note that the fella who wrote that article, Paul Grondahl, is an excellent features writer/reporter who works for the Albany Times-Union. 

Interestingly, our paths have crossed many times as he has covered events which have touched my family over the years:  from fruitcake to events at my kids' school to a book he wrote about the life of long-serving Albany Mayor Erastus Corning 2nd (mayor from 1941 to his death in 1983) and a number of other times as well.
