Alex,

I hope you started Stokley!
Suffered my 1st loss in almost 7 weeks, but still in 1st place overall. Can't win em all, unless your team name is The Calgary Hitman in the HTF1 league. Paul is unstopable this year.
I get to choose between some pretty pour defenses this week so I wanted to get your guys input,,,,,again.
Scoring only league.
WR: (start 2)
Muhammad vs ARI (3 TD's last week!)
Burleson vs DET (Moss may be out for wk 11)
Burress @ CIN (Has had one good game scoring 2 td's, but not a whole lot other than that scoring wise)
McCardell @ OAK (horrible def)
Was leaning towards Muhammad and Burleson, but could make an arguement for any of em.
RB:
Im starting Portis @ PHI, but torn on my 2nd back.
Pittman vs SF
T. Jones vs IND (If he's healthy)
Both D's give up lots of pts, but SF has given up more rushing TD's (13) vs IND (9).
TIA
Phillip,
I'd go with Pittman vs SF

And McCardell vs Oak along with either Muhammed or Burress. It's hard to ignore the passing yards that the Chargers are putting up and McCardell is a primary receiver out there.

Philip, I would go with Pittman, too. Jones' health is too big a risk. As for the receivers, all four are great plays this weekend. Could you loan the two you don't play to me -- I need lots of help?
Thanks guys. I did hear today that Alstott may be coming back this week. That could spell TD vulture to us Pittman owners. Hope not.
Scott, its kinda funny how WR was definately my weekest link at the start of the season, but after almost $200 in transactions, I finally have a somewhat respectable recieving core :b .

Yeah, the $200 was a mistake on my part. I was under the assumption that each transaction was only $5 and that a transaaction consisted of dropping one player and picking up another. However,,,,it was recently brought to my attention that each drop was worth $5 and each addition was worth $5. So my supposed $5 transactions were actually $10. Thus, my $100 in transaction turned into $200. :b So, I will need those upcoming poker nights to help pay for my oops.

I have a qb question

Bulger or Griese
Griese is at home against SF
Bulger is on the road in Buffalo

I want to start Griese but something in my head doesn't want me to start a waiver pickup over a drafted player unless there's some obvious reason.
Bulger is pretty much a stud-do-not-bench call nowadays, in the same category as Manning, Culpepper and McNabb (my boy).

My choice is either:

Antonio Gates
Derrick Mason

Leaning towards Gates (we don't differentiate between TE & WR) as Mason isn't getting tons of yards and is having a hard time getting in the end zone. he also has an iffy QB sitch. Gates is hot, has a got QB and people can't keep him out of the endzone. Looks like I just made up my mind for myself !

Rest of my lineup is:

McNabb
Harrington (used to be Pennington)
Barber
E. James
McCallister (also Pittman/E. Smith -- yes, I am stacked at RB)
J. Walker
Vinatieri

If I win this week I'll be 8-3 and will probably remain in 1st even if I lose (we do combined record/points).

In my case I've got both Bulger and Brady. Brady looks to be a better play. It appears that SL is going to Buffalo this weekend on the road. I'm worried so I started Brady. Right call?

Tom,
I'd start Gates.
I dunno, the only team Bulger hasn't shredded so far as been SF. He's done really well against better defenses as well:

264/2 vs. TB (#3)
295/1 vs. MIA (#1)
285/2 vs. NE (#11)

NE doesn't need Brady to win. STL must get Bulger going if they're going to have a shot because Faulk can't take over a game anymore.
1/1/1/1/3/2/1/2/1

Those are the number of TD's Bulger has thrown in each game this season (+3 rushing). Not quite studly, definitely not in the Manning/Cuply tier. I would actually go with Griese. Please refer to Delhomme's performance last week vs. SF.
Given Buffalo's highly ranked D, I don't forsee Bulger outgunning Brady who is playing against a shoddy secondary in KC. KC might win but it will be a high scoring affair.
Well at our trade deadline, I helped myself at WR! I traded Lee Suggs and Nate Burleson for Muhammed of Carolina.

So for the playoff push my lineup looks like this

Delhomme
M.Muhammed
R.Moss
H.Ward
E.James
M.Pittman
T.Gonzalez

I am sure hoping Moss is going to play this week, but it doesn't look like it. I can't lose this weeks game...

That's a decent trade, Brandon. Suggs has not done much, and Burleson will lose looks when Moss comes back. BTW, Moss is almost certain to miss this week's game, and may be out next week, too.

I'm trying to unload Travis Henry on McGahee's owner before our trade deadline this weekend. I do not expect to get much.

You know who is definitely playing this weekend, though? Deuce McAllister.
Yeah, well Duece may play, but he wouldn't have helped me last week, as I faced McNabb, Owens, Dominik Davis, Dallas Clark, and Jimmy Smith last week. Not much I could do to go against that.
OK, I got running back confusion.

Pick 2 to start:

Tiki Barber vs. Falcons
Corey Dillon at Chiefs
Jerome Bettis at Bengals

--And for my second league, pick two again:

Tiki Barber vs. Falcons
Shaun Alexander vs. Dolphins
Jerome Bettis at Bengals

--Pick one:

Cedrick Wilson (SF) at Bucs
Jerry Porter vs. Chargers

I had my decisions made, but I just read that Duce is out again, so that makes Bettis' value skyrocket!

I cannot believe that I'm considering benching Tiki Barber, but the Falcons have the #4 run defense in the league, whereas Bettis is now matched up against Cincy's #30 run defense. Argh. Decisions!

Thanks.
Scott,
Dillon and Bettis On #1

Alexander/Bettis on #2. Alexander is a stud. No way I'd bench him.

Receiver: hrm that's a crapshoot. I would probably do Porter myself as I'm not too keen on the Chargers D.
Shane,

Thanks for your advice. I think that might be the direction I'm headed in.

But how MORONIC it feels to consider benching TIKI BARBER after the season he's having! Argh!!
I mayh be in the minority Scott, but I wouldn't bench Tiki for the reason you mentioned. He is having a career year. And while CIN does have a poor rushing DEF, they are division rivals and it may be a tighter game than some people expect. Just my opinion. Nice problem to have btw.

I agree with Philip -- do not bench Tiki. He's been a stud all season, and fantasy football rule #1 is never bench your studs. For the same reason, I would not bench Alexander. Bettis and Dillon may have good matchups, but see FF Rule #1.
Man. what a late season sleeper has Muhammad become.
I'm almost in a position to bench Harrison for him.

And then on the other hand, Jamal Lewis has been an uber-bust. Plus I hate the dude to boot.

Griese/Bulger completely evened out in my scoring system but thanks for the input guys
post #264 of 309
Well, short week this time with the Thanksgiving games. Not too much of a dilema this week, but here goes.
WR: pick 2 (scoring league only)
Muhammad vs TB
McCardell @ KC
Burleson vs JAC
Burress vs WAS
Leaning towards Muhammad and McCardell. Is R. Moss going to start? If not, I may sub Burleson for McCardell. Burress has a possible hammy.
RB: pick 2
Pittman @ CAR
Portis @ PIT
Staley vs WAS
T. Jones @ DAL
Leaning torwards Pittman and Portis, however, Portis is really starting to piss me off. I know your not suppose to bench your studs, but I cant remember the last TD he scored. And PIT DEF has the 3rd best DEF against rushing TD's allowed (only 4 all year) while DAL has allowed 8. Staley is being left planted firmly on my bench.

Philip, I would go with Muhammad, McCardell, Portis and Pittman. Staley and TJones are banged up, Burress is out for 2 weeks, and Moss is supposed to be back.

I picked up Julius Jones a few weeks ago and he got 30 carries vs. Baltimore last weekend. I'm planning on putting him in my lineup vs. Chicago (benching SMorris/TMinor). I will need to keep an eye on late injury updates for my QB situation -- Brady plays Baltimore, while Leftwich plays the Vikings. Leftwich would be the better play, but only if he's healthy.
Yeah, Moss may not have started for me yet, while McCallister did, but Pittman who I plugged in replacement did better than McCallister and I traded for Muhammed this week, so I won my game by less than two points!!!

In another league I lost 113.95-113.65
egads. now jamal lewis is probably out

can i get a hand picking two (three if you think one is a better play that c.johnson)

Droughns-oak
C.Taylor-@NE
N.Goings-tb
W.Dunn-no
A.Smith-@hou

Droughns is a lock. I'm not feeling real confident about Taylor against NE...A.Smith would be a good play, if he starts, same with Goings.
I hate Dunn. That guy kills me every time i put him in, and scores every other week.
is there something else i'm missing
Phillip: Muhammad, Burleson, Pittman, Portis

Mark: Goings, Dunn
Would you guys pick up any of these QBs to start over Griese @ Carolina:

Garrard @ Minnesota
Bledsoe @ Seattle
Palmer v Cleveland
Collins @ Denver
Boller @ New England
Carter @ Arizona
Ramsey @ Pittsburgh
Feeley @ San Francisco
E. Manning v Philadelphia
Holcomb @ Cincinatti
King v New York Jets
Krenzel @ Dallas

Feeley and Krenzel have great matchups, but they are Feeley and Krenzel, two players who suck despite the matchup.

My other outlying thought is that I should pick up Mike McMahon. He has a history of coming in off the bench on Thanksgiving and throwing for unbelievable stats to pull out a thriller. Unfortunately, I need the win and can't gamble with a pickup like that.

So is Griese still my starter this week? Would any of these guys be a worthwhile backup down the stretch? It doesn't sould like Pennington is going to be back any time soon.

Brad, stick with Griese over those guys. BTW, Leftwich is supposed to be back vs. Minnesota, so Garrard should not even be an option. If Leftwich gets the to play, I'm planning on playing him instead of Brady vs. that nasty Baltimore defense.
