What do you all think of Droughns and Horn for CMart and Moss?

If I understand correctly, you would be getting Moss and CMartin? If that's the case, make the deal before the other guy changes his mind! Moss is the ultimate WR stud, and Martin's production will be close to Droughns (provided Droughns hangs onto the starting job all season in a crowded backfield). Horn plays for the Saints, who play like crap in the 2nd half of almost every season.
I agree with Scott. Pull the trigger. There is a crowded backfield with the Bronco's and while Droughns may get you alot of yards, the Bronco's like to mix it up a little bit with who actually gets into the endzone. Martin should still see his fair chance at the endzone. Horn plays in a HOT/COLD offense while Moss is the best receiver in the league right now. I wish someone in my $ league would make me an offer like that.

My current lineup:
1 RB, 2 WR, 2 WR/RB Flex (1 pt. per reception)
Deuce McAllister
Fred Taylor
Mewelde Moore
Joe Horn
Darrell Jackson

Sitting on the bench waiting to explode this week:
Reggie Wayne
Ashley Lelie
Nate Burleson

Would any of you start one my bench riders over any of my starters? I really want to start Reggie at home, but I don't know who to displace for him.

That's a good problem to have, Brad. The only guys I would consider benching are Horn or Jackson. I think Seattle will give the ball to Alexander a lot vs. Arizona, so DJax may not have a big game. Horn will face Charles Woodson, so he does not have a great matchup. Reggie Wayne is always a good play at home.

Should I start Mcnair or Garcia today?

Santana moss and Roy X williams are my 2 receivers as of right now but williams is listed as ?
Should I start him. If not I have to pick someone up quick.

Horn has three TDs in the last four games - pretty much unbenchable in what I believe will be a shootout. D-Jax scorched the Cards for 2 TDs and 133 yds the last time they played.

Reggie had two catches for 20 yards in the game at Jacksonville earlier this year. I know he plays much better in the dome, but that's mostly why he's on the pine. If I'd kick out anyone, it would probably be Fred.

PS: I hate Michigan!

Well, Porter finally got into the endzone yesterday. I was kinda hoping he would suck again to make my decision easy, but no, nothing gonna come easy for my this year. Ended up only scoring 20 pts (35 is the average) in my $ league this week, but still squeaked out a victory with my opponent scored a paultry 9 pts. Got to thanks the sceduling gods for that one. Record goes to 6-1 and still in 1st place by 2 games. How'd everyone else do??

Now, do I ditch the under-achieving D. Stallworth and his sore ribs and his bye week this week for Loyd of SF???

Cutting Stallworth would be tough to do, but he certainly has not performed at all this season. At this point, I would rather have Lloyd than him. Neither are available in our league.

I made the right starting decision on Leftwich over Brady, but it didn't make much difference. I'm down by 60 points going into tonight and have no chance with only Rod Smith left (and my opponent is starting Plummer at QB). Shaun Alexander, Reggie Wayne and Terry Glenn all combined to kill me with a combined 8+ points. I'll be 2-5 and reduced to playing for pride the remainder of the season.
Steve McNair, why do you hate me so much?

I'm bordering on dumping him outright in my pay league. He almost cost me a game yesterday.

Heads up on Wayne, at the end of the game yesterday he got in a shouting match with Manning and eventually shoved Manning. The whole team is being PC about it and keeping it "in house" (ie, total denial it happened), but Wayne appears to have issues with his playing time.

With Pollard and Clark healthy, with Harrison having a lot more clout on the "throw ME the ball" huddle talks, and with Stokley continuing to exploit a lot of the zone stuff done to protect against Harrison beating them, Wayne is finding himself out of the throwing rotation a bit.

Funny thing is that during the game this issue was also mentioned since they talked to Wayne about it before the game. He had taken the "yeah, some people are going to complain when you have this much talent, that's just the nature of it" angle then. Sounds a lot like he was the "some people" he was referring to.

Will Manning put up with that, or submit to such demands? Doesn't seem likely, although Tom Moore might look at spreading it to Wayne a bit more. My guess is that Manning doesn't really care one way or the other, though he might be more inclined to throw to guys who aren't bitching (if there are any ).

Too bad you traded away Chad Johnson and Michael Pittman, Scott. Are they over 50 combined pts in your league scoring this week?

And I think Peyton is going to keep throwing to the open guy - including Reggie. Everybody on that team wants the ball on every play - that's why the offense works as well as it does.

I still would have lost, so it didn't matter. I lost by 60 points, CJ had 24 points, Pittman had 17 points, and I would not have started Pittman over my other players (who all put up lousy numbers). Considering how inconsistent CJ has been, I'm still happy getting Hines Ward. With the 2-4 record that I had, I needed to make some changes. My depth did take a hit, though, with Terry Glenn now being out for the next two weeks.

I may see if I can move Brady for an upgrade at WR or RB to someone looking for a QB. Leftwich should put up comparable numbers the rest of the year (Bryon's ahead of Brady in points per week right now). At 2-5, I cannot get much worse.
Well, I was able to slightly upgrade my WR position by trading away M. Moore for K. McCardell. My two stud RB's are done with their bye weeks and I have D. Staley to fall back on in case of an emergency, so I was done starting Moore, who by the way, failed to score a single TD in my scoring only league. So he was pretty much a bust to me regardless of how many yards he got. Plus with all of Minnesota's other RB's coming back soon, it may a crowded backfield. So I pick up McCardell who is definately no top tier WR, but may turn out to be the go to guy in SD along with A. Gates, who I also have. Unfortunately, I have to drop one of my other WR's and pick up a RB to keep my roster balanced according to league rules. My current WR's are:

R. Gardner - WAS
J. Porter - OAK
K. McCardell - SD
P. Burress - PIT
D. Stallworth - NO (bye this week)

I was planning on dropping Stallworth as the guy is killing me by underperforming, but I know as soon as I drop him, he'll turn into a scoring machine. I also thought about dumping Porter, but he finally got his 1st TD of the season and since I just traded for him 2 weeks ago, I hate to give up on him too quickly. I think he still may have a better 2nd half (contract year, and Collins getting more comfy in the system). Stallworth or Porter? Porter or Stallworth? Or maybe another? Plus there is the fact that Loyd of SF is still available and Scott seems pretty high on him, so I may just dump both Porter/Stallworth in order to pick up Loyd.

The RB's Im looking at are:
Chatman - SD
Blaylock - KC
Pittman - (bye week + sore leg or back)
Morris - MIA
Wells - HOU

I was leaning torwards Chatman as I think Blaylock may be picked up by someone with a higher waiver priority. Besides, Chatman seams to be getting more play time with LT's nagging injury.

For the RB's you listed, Morris and Pittman are starters when healthy, so there is a better chance you can use them in your lineup. Pittman's a better choice when healthy, but you probably will not know the extent of his injuries until next week because of the Bucs bye. Tampa is not required to file an injury report this week.

Chatman, Blaylock and Wells are only useful if the starters they are backing up get injured. I usually stay away from backups unless (1) I also own the starter, or (2) the backup has major potential and could steal the job from the starter. None of those backups fits either criteria.

Time for my weekly WR input request. I know, you guys must be getting sick of it, but, any addition input is always appreciated. Stictly scoring based league.
WEEK 8:
K. McCardell - OAK (OAK has given up 11 passing TD's)
R. Gardner - GB (GB has given up 14)
J. Porter - @SD
P. Burress - NE
Right now I have McCardell and Gardner, but I can almost make arguements for all of em.
I ended up dumping Stallworth. Tough call, but he can be somebody elses headache from now on. Plus, he has a bye this week.
The rest of the roster:
QB-D. Culpepper vs NYG
RB-C. Portis vs GB
RB-T. Jones vs SF
WR-K.McCardell vs OAK
WR-R. Gardner vs GB
TE-A. Gates vs OAK
K- K. Brown vs JAX
DEF- Arizon vs BUF

Bench players:
QB-D. Carr vs JAX
RB-D. Staley vs NE
RB-M. Pittman (bye)
WR-J. Porter @SD
WR-P. Burress vs NE
K-D. Brien vs MIA
DEF-NE @ PIT

I actually like my dilema this week due to some favorable matchups, unlike past weeks.

Philip, this will be McCardell's first week with a new team, and he has not played at all this season so you do not know if he's even in shape. Personally, I would wait to see what he does before starting him. I would go with Burress instead, even with the less favorable matchup.
I think he (McCardell) played last week and caught around 5 passes for 60 some yards, but no TD's. Plus, this week, Raiders cornerback Charles Woodson may be out due to injury.
Yep, McCardell played (and played well) last week. I'd go with him over Burress this week.

Oops, I missed McCardell playing last week. :b
post #199 of 309
For Westbrook owners:

He's out at least a couple weeks...with a cracked rib, I'd be inclined to think he'll be out longer, but we'll see how it develops.

I wasn't planning on starting him against Bal. this week anyhow...
Thanks for the help last week, fellas. I won. I'm now at 4-3, even though I have the 2nd highest overall point total in my league. (10 teams)

Just 1 position I would like some input on this week.

RB - I need to play 2.
Edge James vs KC
Mewelde Moore vs NYG
Thomas Jones vs SF

Who would you play, Moore or Jones? Scoring is 1pt for 20 yards of rushing/receiving, and 6 pts for TD.

Thanks for the help.
Sort of a toss up. Jones has a much greater chance of scoring then Moore. Moore's goal line carries get leeched by Moe Williams.

I'd lean toward Jones for that reason.
I would also lean towards Jones. I think he's good for at least one TD this week. Maybe not as many yards from scrimage as Moore, but at 20 yards for 1 pt, and no real TD threat from Moore, its a no brainer. And, quoting Yahoo sports......"Jones faces a San Francisco defense that has allowed 10 TD's by running backs in its past four games. Despite Chicago's struggles, Jones has been steady with 4.4 yards per carry and five TD's. "

I would go with Moore. His chances of a TD are better if Randy Moss is not healthy. The Bears offense has gone completely in the tank since Grossman was injured and is affecting Jones' numbers.

Another week, another injury hits my team. I've previously lost Charlie Garner, Rich Gannon, Deion Branch and LaVar Arrington (IDP, not a huge deal). Also add the loss of Travis Henry to McGahee taking over the starting RB job in Buffalo. Now, over the weekend I lose Terry Glenn (who went from being out 2 weeks to the entire season) and Byron Leftwich, who'll be out 4-6 weeks with a knee injury sustained Sunday vs. Houston. My team is cursed this season!

I'm down to one QB (Brady), so I have to resort to making a waiver claim for Jay Fiedler. He and Kyle Boller are the only two starters available. If Brady gets hurt, I'm doomed.

Anyway, this week my starting dilemma is either Jerome Pathon @ SD, Sammy Morris vs. Arizona or Andre Davis @ Balt. Right now I'm leaning towards Pathon. I'm actually surprised I can still field a lineup with all the injuries. I'm now 3-5 after winning last week, and play a team with a worse record than mine this week.

My lineup:
QB: Brady @ StL
RB: SAlexander @ SF
WR: HWard vs. Philly
Flex: RWayne vs. Minn
Flex: RSmith vs. Hou
Flex: Pathon @ SD
I feel your pain, Scott.

My money league team included Steve Smith, Todd Heap, Deuce McAllister (who missed some games), Dominick Davis (who missed games and got hurt and left games), and then I traded for Randy Moss and the next week he's hurt.

Fun times!
So far, I've been pretty lucky regarding the injury bug. I did loose C. Rogers in the 1st week, but since then my only injury of note would be T. Jones last week. Hopefully he's not out too long. I picked up Pittman as a backup and plan on starting him this week against KC. Won again last week and stayed in 1st place overall at 7-1. However, my schedule gets harder for the next month or so. Thanks to everyones input to date. I appreciate it.

Scott, as a former Stallworth owner, I too, would start Pathon over your other 2 choices. According to recent news, he's getting the starting job over Stall(un)worth(y).

Week 9 starting lineup:
QB- Culpepper @ IND
RB- Portis @ DET
RB- Pittman vs KC
WR- Burress vs PHI
WR- Muhammad vs OAK
TE- Gates vs NO
K- Brown @ DEN
DEF- ARI @ MIA

Bench
QB- Carr @ DEN
RB- Jones @ NYG (good time to get a ouchie I guess)
RB- Staley vs PHI (Bus vultures all of his TD's)
WR- McCardell vs NO (want to start him, but Burress is emerging as 'the man' and Muhammad has a good chance to score against OAK, hell, my grandma has a good chance to score on em as well)
WR- J. Porter @ CAR
TE- Baker @ BUF
K- Obrien @ BUF
DEF- NE @ STL

Any advice?

Philip, the only thing I would change is McCardell instead of Muhammad. I know Oakland's defense is terrible, but New Orleans' defense is nothing to get excited about either. So, with two bad defenses, I would go with the better player.

That was the same logic I used. I picked Pathon up a week ago for that reason, thinking he wouldn't last through the Saints bye week on our waiver wire. I was right, since another owner also tried to claim him off waivers.

Actually, I would have rather lost the waiver claim, 'cause that would have meant I had a better record than my sad-sack 3-5 (2-5 then).

Logical. I may have to ride the McCardell express again this week.

I was looking a little closer at my lineup and may put in Staley this week instead of Pittman. I forgot about the revenge factor and they may actually let Staley score against his old team.

My luck isn't getting any better -- I lost out on Fiedler in our waiver claim process. He went to someone with a worse record who has Favre (bye this week), Eli Manning and Philip Rivers as his QB's, so he really needed a QB this week. Until Leftwich returns my backup to Brady is ...shudder... David Garrard.
Bulger vs. NE's injury plagued defense
Brees vs. NO's always miserable defense

I can be safe (or maybe he's just the better play) and start Bulger, or go with Brees along with definite starters McKardell and LT. Hmmmm....
