The Invaders - Page 28

Re: The Invaders

Guys, I just got this email from a reliable source. If anyone wants to go it should be a lot of fun to see this on a big screen and make new friends! In addition, if you don't mind making a small donation that would be great too, but not necessary. The small donation helps pay for things. The guy will be trying to do more events like this in the future. ENJOY THE SHEW!!

Stan, It is happening tomorrow @ 12:30pm on a 20 foot screen with
only 150 comfy seats. The address is : The Paley Centre for
Media,465 North Beverly Drive,Beverly Hills,Ca.90210
telephone310)786-1000. the episode is "the Experiment"

Re: The Invaders

Stuart Galbraith gave S2 of "The Invaders" a 'highly recommended' for his review posted today on dvdtalk:

The Invaders - The Second Season : DVD Talk Review of the DVD Video

The review features a nice interview with Stephen Bowie, television historian, who wrote a very enjoyable and lengthy treatise on "The Invaders" that you can link to here:

Re: The Invaders

the "shimmering fog" visible behind Roy in the intros looks to be either someone's off camera cigarette smoke or heat from one of the stage lights shimmering through another light.I doubt that they're burning incense.
Glad to see the Stuart caught the jittering on "The Possessed" and "Counterattack". As he says in the review, it's minimal and doesn't spoil the viewing experience but I'm a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to this show (and my other favorites)

Re: The Invaders

Did anybody notice the last episode of the series, "The Inquisition", the picture looked faded and the sound was sorta muffled.
The entire series had looked fantastic and sounded great, but it was like they forgot to digitally remaster this episode !

Re: The Invaders

Yes. INQUISITION has some problems...but I doubt they put a whole lot of money into any remastering...certainly not to the extent of shows like STAR TREK.

i have the series on dvd and watch an episode that had Jack Lord. I love this series and would recommend this show to anyone who likes sci-fi shows.

I've owned the complete series on DVD for years, and would also recommend it to sci-fi lovers.  It's a classic, and it's very well done.  I also would recommend the short ficton stories that were distributed (was it forty?) years ago.  They were very chilling in their own right, especially with regard to how the writer(s) described the aliens (particularly their mutated fingers) and the hauntingly mysterious regeneration tubes.  I wish I still had those books.  I read the first one when I was about ten years old, and I couldn't put it down.

We watched Storm and Panic tonight.  I really enjoyed both, but found Panic to be especially riveting.  In the latter episode, we got to see a landing site, and a few 'deaths' (en route to the regeneration tubes).  And what a treat to see Robert Walker in the episode.  I couldn't help but think of Charlie Evans (from Charlie X) when I saw him, of course.

IMO one of the best, if not the best sci fi shows ever on tv. If any of these shows can be plausible I give this one my vote. Although it has it's share of frustrating, illogical details. For instance, why doesn't David carry a gun or a knife? The Invaders are very easy to kill.  He frequently walks into a hornet's nest with seemingly no good escape plan. He falls into their hands and by some miracle escapes. Still an awesome, riveting series. Like potato chips, you can't enjoy just one. You will want to watch one episode after another.

I find myself coming back to certain series. The Invaders is one of the shows and rates in my top 10 for dvd purchases. I love everything about this show. I also think, it is one of the most plausable Sci Fi shows. Naturally, there are certain flaws in the logic of this show. Why does our hero always walk into a heavily armed alien hornet's nest with no weapon and little to no backup? Also I never could understand how people who survived an alien assault and were convinced of their existence on Earth, seem to go back to their lives and wish David Vincent good luck. I think that is a little unrealistic. "Our world is being taken over by hostile aliens who want to wipe us out but I wonder who's going to win the game tonight"? " Aliens, that's Vincent's problem I have to live my life and plan my future. Good luck David, if your ever in town....".

A wonderful series indeed, another one of those shows deserving more seasons than it got. And it's always fun to spot actors who'd get to star themselves in bigger shows later like Dan Frazer on Kojak or Garry Walberg on Quincy M.E., incidentally both recently departed at age 90 (Walberg in March).

Always used to enjoy Garry Walberg's scenes with Jack Klugman and the other regular castmembers on Quincy, M.E.
