I never said I hated American culture...I just stated that's the way I see it.
By the way, being part of a group does not in itself inspire prejudice - ignorance, misunderstandings, and blind hatred do.
People can be bigots towards individuals just as much as they can be to a "race" or nation of peoples. Just look at the Columbine killers. They didn't feel they belonged to any kind of group, therefore they didn't fit in and were outcasts. They were seen as being strange and shy. Maybe these misconceptions and prejudice had something to do with the extreme actions they took, don't you think?
At least if you are part of a group, then you have other people to support you and rally behind you. Many individuals cannot fight for themselves. This is what the whole gay rights movement and pride parades are about - they are very happy to be a part of a "definable" group and it in fact helps them a lot in their everyday life.
Can you really tell me that is a bad thing?
