When are We going to see a Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea DVD Release?!!!!! - Page 50

Just a reminder for Voyage Fans the 50th year tribute book will ship this fall and only printed 250 copies i believe. Here is where you can obtain them. I have seen a mock up of the book and it looks very good. Fans also remember the new and improved SSRN Seaview Manual will be out next year. Remember that i did convey to the author to include blueprints of Seaview with the 8 windows as Gary suggested. Love my Voyage episode's and always have to end with thanks to Mr James Finn and 20th Century Fox for the release of all the episodes on dvd. Here is where you can obtain books or send a comment . www.alphacontrolpress.biz

I received an update on the book that it will not be out until October. Check the Alpha contro web site.

Gary did you get the letter from Alpha about the Voyage Book? What intrigued me the most is i think Fred Barr is taking our suggestion to heart about the inside of the first Seaview. I am going to look into the matter and see what i can find out. What info i can get i will post it here.

Yes I did, Mark.  The way I read that letter, we can't expect a completed book any sooner than the 4th quarter of the year.  Personally, if we get it by Christmas I'd be pleased.  But even more so, I just want the book to be done correctly.  I'll gladly wait a bit longer to get the best VTTBOTS book of all time.  And yes... AH... YES... I'd love to see that first season Seaview blueprints.  The show absolutely portrayed two different levels of observation noses and I'd like to see some blueprints to reflect that.  It would be really cool.

Thanks for keep us updated on this one, Mark!  You're a great pal.

Hi Gary I was contacted by William Anchors who is writing the Voyage book and he stated that he mentioned the suggestion to Fred the author of the Manual on Seaview. The inside of the nose and control room without the flying sub hatch. I will give more info as i receive it.

Hi Gary another update.

Glora was kind enough to tell me she would ask Fred again about what we want. The second level of the ship is comfortable with chairs looking out and the staircase from the nose ends there.

The control room is not featured at all in the second level of the nose.

I have done all i can and Bill and Gloria have been super about answering my questions.

Thanks once again to Bill and Gloria.

Mark, thank you for all the work you are doing!  I for one am very appreciative of your efforts, as well as those of Bill and Gloria.

I was pretty sure that the first season Seaview's control room was not the upper level of the observation nose even though that's an easy mistake to make.  The reason I say that is because whenever anyone in the control room would talk about going to the observation nose they would always exit through the opening that was in the opposite direction of where the 2nd - 4th season Seaview's windows were.  That, and the fact that the periscope could never logically line up with the Seaview's control room if it was next to the observation nose.  Then again, that never seemed to matter once we got to Season Two.  laugh.gif

Gary "thanks again for your diligence, Mark" O.

Hi Voyage Fans Gary pointed out something in his above post. I will try and clear up what i can. I emailed Alpha and asked once more if the suggestion to draw up blueprints for the inside of the movie Seaview and 1st season were acted upon. I heard from Alpha today that they would pass the suggestion along once more to the writer of the new Seaview Manual due out next year. The blueprints could make it into the new book. I do not think the blueprints will be in it but that is opinion not fact. I am sure the writer would want to save such blueprints for the new SSRN Technical Manual due out next year. Sorry for any confusion i may have caused fans.

No problems, Mark.  I'm thankful for all your work and the updates you supply.  I don't think you said anything that caused any confusion.  I'm kinda figured there were no original blueprints for the first Seaview (the one from the film and the first season) only because we had never seen any up to this point.  It make sense that the creators just never gave thought to giving us that much detail, although I have to admit as a kid I was always dying to know what that upper observation nose deck looked like.  It was one of those fascinating little "secrets" that were never revealed.  But thanks to your diligence, maybe one day we will have something more concrete that we can enjoy.  I'm sure whoever works on this fantasy detail, if you will, is going to do a great job.

Gary "hopefully we'll get some good news on the release date of the book in the near future" O.

Gary and Voyage Fans i heard from Glora at Alpha Control that my link did not work. Here is the link that does. These are early Irwin Allen blueprints of Seaview for the movie and the other for the Flying Sub. Sorry for the mistake and thankyou Gloria for pointing it out! I also wanted to add that these are not the blueprints that may be created for the inside of the first season sub or movie sub.

Hi Voyage Fans,

I just wanted to remind you that Alpha will be shipping the new Voyage Book this month. The books will go fast if you would like to order one here is the link. http://www.alphacontrolpress.biz/site.html

I sure hope Gary and I will get our wish on the complete blueprints from the first SSRN Seaview in the Manual that is due out next year. I will update as I hear from Gloria on all the books.

I am watching season 4 episodes in order along with the Time Tunnel. Time Tunnel I begin watching in September wtih one epsiode per week. I thought it would be fun to add Voyage with it since we now have all of season 4. Season 4 as it comes out of the gate has some great episode's as we all have said from time to time on this thread.

I also remember reading that for Season 5 Irwin Allen had drawings of a new machine that could walk on the ocean floor. The Machine drawings look a great deal like those from The Empire Strikes Back. I could not help thinking of this when I just viewed Empire in HD this week.

VOYAGE fans should take note that the MeTV network is airing VOYAGE on Saturday nights at midnight ET.  They've begun already as of last week with a Season 4 episode.

Thanks for any and all updates, Mark!  I am looking forward to the upcoming Voyage book, as well as the (fingers crossed) bigger and better Seaview Manual coming next year.

Hi Voyage Fans,

I receieved Alpha Control notice in the mail on the Voyage Book. The book will be out in 2012 and if you wait you will receive 2,200 pics on a CD as a bonus. I wrote to them to count me in on that.

I watched the Mummy last night and may watch the Werewolf episode sometime this week. I still cannot get over how good the episode's look on my bluray set.!!

I received the same notice in the mail yesterday. I'm going to maintain my purchase and not withdraw payment. I believe it will be worth it.

Hi Karl,

I think it is a good deal. I plan to watch the Mummy again the score of that episode Hugo Friedhofer and Bernard Herrmann cannot be beat. Rains of Ranchipur and The Day the Earth Stood Still make it a rich episode. I also like how we see the Seaview at Night which I thought was sort of nice. I hope to fit in the Phantom and the Phantom Returns before the Holiday ends next week.

Some Voyage Fans over the years have suggested problems with the sets. I bought all of mine from Best Buy 1 -3. Season 4 I bought in the now out of business Borders. Volume 2 from Amazon. I had problems again with Rescue disc 2 side B vol 1 of season 4. I called Fox and they said they would replace the entire set but I would have to pay shipping. So give them a call if you want those sets to be replaced they are happy to do so. The Phone number is on the web page.

The main problem I'm having right now (watching Season 2), is the sound with music way too loud and dialogue too low which means you have to constantly adjust the level as you watch. Most irritating. Hope it's different later on as I get to the other seasons, because this is quite annoying in the long run.

Mark, I think I finally got an answer to my question about the 1st Season Seaview.  Here's a close-up of the latest model that shows what I've been looking for for many, many years!

Gary "if I built models I'd be extremely tempted to buy this thing" O.

Gary, great news!! I bought the flying sub version of Seaview at a hobby store. I met a guy there who put the thing together for me for a small price. Struck up a friendship with him and had the flying sub and as I said before the large Seaview. The control room was very detailed but they left no way to look inside. The man had already put it together so now I look into the ship with a flashlite. I broke out one of the windows doing so. The Flying Sub you just lift the top off and look in. Oh well such is life and I can see into the ship.

Here is what I found from one of the websites. https://www.monstersinmotion.com/cart/spaceships-vehicles-item-listt-c-13_194/seaview-motion-picture-1-128-scale-plastic-model-kit-p-16631

Make sure you're selecting the original mono audio track.  On the early VOYAGE sets, there was a choice of English stereo and English mono.  The stereo was just a fake-stereo track that sort=of emphasizes the music.  The mono track is much better and more intelligible.

Hi Harry. I do that too, but there's no real difference that I can tell as far as sounds and effects and music, it's all extremely loud vs. the dialog scenes. If there's a difference it's minimal, so basically on the mono track it's the same problem. Sure hope it improves, because going from one scene of event to the next is quite a switch in pitch. In scenes with bombastic music there's often talk too, but the music is way too loud which means you instinctively grab the remote and turn the volume down, then have to turn it up again for the next dialog scene. Have there been no noticeable complaints about this loudness level?

Fox has a sale on Voyage DVDs. I ordered up another volume 1 of season 4. The first order is free shipping and 10 percent off. Go to foxconnect.com if any of you are interested.

Amazon UK is listing a "VTTBOTS" complete series for March. The pre-order price is about $85 US shipped. Basically, the same price as the current individual seasons combined, but it might go down a bit more in the future.
Yes, it's just a shame that Fox mucked about with this series so much. A long, long time ago they were issuing flyers in other sets (like the X-Files) that VTTBOTS (and the Time Tunnel and Land of the Giants) were due for release in the UK - and their website was asking consumers to vote for which one they wanted first (you could vote for more than one if you wanted though)

So we waited...and waited...and waited...

So eventually the seried got released in the US. By that time UK fans had given up hope and just bought those.

But then, we all know what a saga that turned out to be, with the extraordinarily painful and protracted release of the fourth season (which took about three times as long to bring to DVD as it did to actually make it)

And literally weeks after the final volume is out; well, it turns out that Fox in the Uk licensed all of the Irwin Allen series out to an independent label here. Who managed to release all three...complete...in a year. And none of that silliness about half-season sets either.

Moreover, they haven't messed up the packaging either - unlike r1, where Fox managed ot make sure S4 sticks out like a sore thumb on the shelf by stuffing it into Amarays instead of slim cases inside card sleeves (which are much mice, but I;d have settled for either so long as we got a matching set)

Oh, and the UK sets aren't on those damn flipper discs either!

It;s just so infuriating, espescially how Fox dithered in both the US and UK and stretched the releases out to ridiculous lengths

What's the betting that just after everyone buys the sets, they release it on BluRay? As the series was made on film and it looks wonderful (at least they got that right) it would be fantastic. I'd buy a complete series BluRay in a Seaview or Floying Sub shaped set in a heartbeat!
