Dave I want to thankyou for the reply. I understand your position too.   Congratulations to Gord and his Wife. You guys provide a great service and I check you out everyday.

Rob thankyou for the post and welcome aboard to HTF!!  I hope more fans will follow you.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Joe saw your comments on stalled shows.  Joe like the focus group comment. I hope more fans who have never posted before come on board.  It sure would be nice to hear from our core fan base too.

David as he said "could not promise anyting" in gettng an answer for us.  The fact that he will try to get an answer for us is very kind of him.  I imagine if he does hear anyting it will be after Gord returns when Dave will have more time.

I just want to appeal once more to fans of the show who have never posted before. Now is the time to post.  We need your support.

I just bought the DVD "The Fantasy Worlds of Irwin Allen"  at Amazon.  I had the VHS copy but decided to upgrade. 13.00 bucks for the DVD and 35 dollars for  Irwin Allen Television Productions 1964-1970.

The book has alot of great triva on each episode of all 4 shows. The "Deadly Amphibians" the last show from Volume 1 Season 4 had a great line. Richard Basehart order's the filming to  stop because the Amphibian spoke lines which Richard had just said.  The scene take's place in his Lab and they say you can see him get flustered.

Nick we need some more triva from you.  Harry where are you ?  I would imagine busy like the rest of us.  Like I have said before this is the time for everyone to post.  The last 13 episodes  release need your support.

Wow, I also  just bought the DVD "The Fantasy Worlds of Irwin Allen"  at Amazon along with Irwin Allen Television Productions 1964-1970  just last week!  This book is fantastic, really loaded with info on all 4 Allen Shows.

I wanted to add my voice to releasing Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea: Season 4 Vol 2.  I own all the previous Seasons and now that I've been reading this amazing book about the Irwin Allen shows I'm really looking forward to those last episodes from Season 4. Especially the last episode, which sounds like the show went out on a high note.

Here's to more Voyage in 2010, I hope!

Hey Mike welcome aboard!  I just like you enjoy this book on Irwin Allen.  The book is objective too.  I like some episode's that he does not.  There is another book out there "The Irwin Allen Scrapbook" volume 1 edited by  William E. Anchors Jr  240 pages.  I have seen it on ebay from time to time.  The book is about Voyage and Time Tunnel.  Volume 2 is about Lost in Space and Land of the Giants  There is another book about Voyage "Seaview: The Making of Voyage To The Bottom of the sea"  Tim Colliver author.  I believe Nick has the book.

I have the VHS copy to the "The Fantasy Worlds Of Irwin Allen".  Amazon has a bunch for sale a must buy for any Irwin Allen fan. Look forward to getting my DVD.

To the good people at Fox who have given us such beautiful restorations on Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea.  I entreat you to please consider all the fans waiting for the last espisode's of this great series.

I also want to thank 20th Century Fox for their work on their other series.  You are head and shoulders in quality from other studio's restoration's.  When I buy a Fox video I know I am getting the best in picture restoration.

Thanks

Hi guys, I haven't dropped off the face of the Earth, nor have I been time-displaced by Mr. Pem. No, something far more sinister is involved here - MOVING!

But I've kept up with the thread, checking in when I can. At this moment, I'm in the new place, logging in via dial-up. I can say that I've been a fan of THE FANTASY WORLDS OF IRWIN ALLEN since its inception back in the '90s.  As I recall, I saw it on the Sci-Fi Channel when it premiered, because I remember writing down the address where I could get a VHS copy.

I did that and enjoyed it, later upgrading to the DVD when IT came out.  The DVD has a bunch of extras that the VHS lacks, like the presentation shorts for CITY BENEATH THE SEA and MAN FROM THE 25th CENTURY, plus it's much easier to navigate if you're only interested in looking at the section on VOYAGE or TIME TUNNEL.

And I've been a fan of the Jon Abbott book on the IRWIN ALLEN PRODUCTIONS since IT came out a few years ago.  It was initially expensive, but it's a nice hard-bound book that I've enjoyed thoroughly.  The book serves as a pretty decent companion to all of the series.

It's clear from reading it that Mr. Abbott is a TIME TUNNEL most of all, finding positive things to say about even the wonkiest of episodes.  His patience for VOYAGE seems to have worn thin after about the second season, as his reviews tend toward the negative as the series delved into its monster-of-the-week format, but I find a good bit of his criticism warranted.

His views on LOST IN SPACE tend to mirror mine, where it's a series that you have to be in the mood for, or the silliness will get to you.

And I believe he found LAND OF THE GIANTS largely uninspired once you get a few episodes in.  His book was the one, however, that led me to watch LAND OF THE GIANTS in production order, rather than the aired order of the DVD's.  That helps immensely as the characters tend to evolve more naturally in production order.

I also have the William Anchors book on TIME TUNNEL and VOYAGE, and its too makes a pretty good compaion, though it's a little less "professional" with its inconsistent fonts and spacing.  It's very detailed in the story-lines, though, more-so than Mr. Abbott's book.

I've been voting with my wallet.

Over the past few months, I've bought all seven VTTBOTS releases, plus the 1961 movie.

When you are just one release away from completing a series, it would be a shame to stop at this point.

Ironically, VTTBOTS is the only Irwin Allen series I have fond memories of.  Everything else just leaves me cold.

This might be a bit off topic, but I'm hoping some of you hometheatreforumers might be able to enlightenment on this:
Angela Cartwright played Penny Robinson on "Lost in Space" from 1965-1968.  She also played Jemima Boone on "Daniel Boone" from 1964-1970.
But on the 1965 "Lost.." run, she looks like a little girl while on the 1965 "Daniel B" episodes, she looks every bit like a young woman. Could there have been a release gap between the two shows (on was on CBS, the other on NBC?)
It could not have been simply the make up or character. Can anyone explain this, or am I crazy?

Angela's older sister, Veronica Cartwright, played the role of Jemima Boone on the "Daniel Boone" series.

Bob's got it exactly right.  Angela was Penny (and one of the daughters in "Sound of Music"), while her older sister Veronica was Jemima and also Fred Rutherford's daughter, Violet, in "Leave it to Beaver."  The two girls did look similar, so it's not hard to see why some would confuse them.  For whatever reason I had a crush on Angela when I was a kid but not on her sister.

Gary "Veronica didn't stay with the Boone series too long" O.

Volume 3 actually consisted of Williams "My Friend Mr. Nobody" and Herman Stein's "The Derelict" (which contains the ever popular "Family" cue).

Also, a lot of LIS music was stock cues from the Fox library done for older Fox movies and many of these were released on CD too, but are now sold out alas.    Film Score Monthly did Bernard Herrmann's "Beneath The 12 Mile Reef" which is where the "parajets" music cue from LIS comes from, and Intrada had a limited pressing of Leigh Harline's "The Enemy Below" which also had some cues turn up in LIS.

Mike Thankyou once more for that great write up on Richard Basehart.

I have news on Voyage in the book form.  The Irwin Allen Scrap Book volume 1 can be found on ebay for 50.00.  The book is the Time Tunnel / Voyage book.  The second Volume can be found at Amazon.  Lost in Space and Land of the Giants.

Seaview Model Kits 99.00 dollars and a smaller put together version 9 to 14 inches for 44.00 dollars will be out first week of March.

The much sought after "Seaview The Making Of Voyage To The Bottom Of Sea" book will have a reprint due out in August of 2010.

Irwin Allen TV shows items and Seaview models plus Dark Shadows items can be found at  Monstersinmotion.com.

I spoke with them today about the Seaview book.  I ordered mine at 24.00 dollars a book on line.  I had just called them to find out where the book was and got the above info.

The more orders the better is what he told me to pass on to fans. He told me do not wait until the book is out to order. The last time only 1000 were issued.

Mark,

Thanks for the info on the books and models, I'd like a nice Seaview model. The $44 dollar one seems up my alley.  Also I'll pre order that Seaview book!

Last night I watched "Levithan" from Season 2, great shots underwater of the giant scientist shaking the Seaview model around!

At first I wasn't interested in revisiting Voyage. Hadn't seen it since summer reruns when it was first broadcast. But eventually, I saw season 1, volume 1 real cheap. Watched the pilot in colour, then shelved and half forgetting about it. Now with the big snow and library books read, I pulled Voyage out to try one of black & whites. Wow! Incredible sharp image. I'll be watching more and probably get a couple more volumes.
My S4V1 arrived yesterday.  Did the set ever have a cardboard outer covering, or was it always just the clear keepcase?
Sorry Tim no cover.  Nothing like Voyage to beat Cabin Fever pardon the pun.  I forgot to inform everyone who does not know this info.

The Voyage comics from Gold Key have all been reprinted in a hard cover book.  Voyage To The Bottom Of The Sea Volume 1 The Complete Series is out. The second book will be out Feb 15 2010.  The books are at Amazon 36.00 for #1 and 31.00 dollars for Pre Order on Volume 2

I also got an email from monstersinmotion.com today for confirmation on my pre order for Seaview.  The 14inch models are coming in now.  I hope Fox is reading the following.

Voyage Fans have been asking for the DVD's of the show. Plus all the other Irwin Allen TV Series. The web site said they are now adding them along side Star Trek for purchase online. I read this on some SFI Web Site.  The picture quality of the Voyage DVD's is fantastic as Henry noticed and the online retailers as well.

Let's hear it for 20th Century Fox!!!  I think S4 Vol 2 will be a great money maker for Fox.  Those last 13 episodes will finish this ground breaking series.  Please Release Them!

Thankyou
Mark Collins

I don't know how many of you hometheatreforum folks are also fans of vttbots.com, Mike Bailey's splendid Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea tribute site. But I learned recently that Mr. Bailey passed away in August.
I had sent him an e-mail asking why there had been no activity on his site since December of 2008. Mr. Bailey's wife, Beverly, sent me an e-mail a few weeks later, explaining her husband had succumbed to leukemia. Did I feel like a heel!
For Voyage fans, his site is far and away the best. Mrs. Bailey said she is in the process of finding someone to carry on her husband's work and keep it updated.
If you are familiar with vttbots.com and have enjoyed as much as I have over the past five years, you might wish to send Beverly a note of appreciation -Flannery64@AOL.com.

"And one of the elements that enters all of this is the [submarine] Seaview, which is not a government vessel, but a sort of covert, extra-government vessel…more along the lines of the Captain Nemo idea.""

Which guarantees 100% that I will not be watching this if it comes to pass.    Why can't Voyage's basic template be allowed to stand on its own without having to borrow from some other familiar storyline (not to mention intrude the usual dose of Hollywood political correctness on us)?

I had read that ABC had entered into negotiations for a fifth season of Voyage. However Irwin Allen turned it into a pitch session for Land of the Giants. It would seem that perhaps Irwin Allen was bored and ready to move on. It's a shame since the 4th season had been such an improvement on the 3rd season.

A reboot of Voyage? Gaggg!! How right you are, Jack.  If the reimagined "Voyage" comes about, you can bet either Crane or Nelson will be a female character, there will be no cigarette smoke on the Seaview, Nelson will never utter a verse of Scripture (as he did from time to time in the series and the vilains will be greedy corporate CEOs, not spies or foreign despots.
