Beastie Boys album infects computers with DRM

I've no interest in the group but this story on Slashdot raises big concerns.

Basically, load the CD into your PC or Mac and it infects the machine with DRM to prevent copying. It's done automatically and without the user's permission or acknowledgement.

Sounds like a virus to me.

That's very unethical if true, and possibly illegal under the new federal anti-spyware rules discussed in Congress this week.

Before this all gets out of hand, which version is being referred to in the article, the US version or a European release? I have seen copy-protected Japanese releases, but I have not heard of this happening in the States. It is unclear from the posts if it is being released here (the US). Plus, the fact the Rob is from England makes me wonder if it is only on the UK pressings.
