ALIAS season 4 ongoing thread (merged) - Page 22

I'm really starting to wonder - don't any of these high-tech terrorists or intelligence agencies have any access to photographs? I may be crazy, but if I were setting up a meeting with someone, and had the resources these people have at their disposal, I'd try to get him to send a JPG and cut down the likelihood of the CIA substituting a black American for a Dutch white guy. I know these guys have a vested interest in keeping their identities secret, but how possible is that in this day and age.

I mean, heck, you'd think the CIA would have a file photo of Elena Derevkho somewhere.

Also - if you were Marshall (or, really, anybody in this cast), and Sloane asked you to keep something just between the two of you... Would you, really? I know, it might be your job if someone somewhere in the CIA finds out you're breaking protocol, but that's never gotten someone on Alias fired before (heck, you can apparently beat a potential intelligence source to a bloody pulp and not get censured). And, dude, he's Arvin Sloane. He's not trustworthy. He's probably going to use this confidential information for something treasonous and evil. Personal favors requested by Arvin Sloane are the best reasons to start a CYA file ever.

Thanks Bob

The whole organization is breaking protocol. Remember, they don't work for the CIA proper.

...and even if you would, why would you leave a copy of the folder out in plain sight?

Well, you're Marshall. Great with anything involving electronics, kind of a spaz otherwise.

Last night showed an inconsistency that's bugging me. When Sydney was buried alive APO couldn't call the regular CIA to rescue her because of their unofficial nature. Yet last night Vaughn calls for a Medivac and identifies himself so they know it's an official request. On other episodes it seems like they've used CIA safe houses and other resources. Plus, Nadia gets access to her aunt several weeks ago and I can't believe it doesn't blow her "unofficial" status to get clearance to see a high level prisoner like that.

I still enjoy the show, but this nags at me.

Ssssssssssshhhhhhhh........

Well, uh, last night the guy that was shot, although deep cover, was regular CIA (right?) so he gets the Company medivac. Vaughn used his fake-real-CIA code. How's that?

5/4/05 "Mirage"

Ah, that's the old Alias I remember: Sydney tearing up, or almost tearing up, getting all emotional inside as she learns that Jack was prepared to walk away from the spy biz all because he wanted to be a real dad to Sydney. I guess this is about the same time that Irina plans her own death to extract herself from this mission, and Jack's world goes wonky for him and Sydney, starting another chain of events that keeps Jack in the spy world, ironically enough.

Great episode. Really humanized Jack and his bitterness and hardness is all the more understandable after seeing the depth of his love for his family.

Great episode. Victor knocked the ball out of the park in his scenes with "Laura". I loved when he was saying how she's such the perfect wife, mother etc. I've always wanted to see how Jack was during their marriage.

And was that the first time ever we saw where he lives?? I expected him to live in some high tech fortress.

Vaughan's line about "I expected him to live in a bunker." was great

I sure didn't see it coming that Michael McKean was in Jack's mind (for awhile anyway). Neat twist. It was pretty cool how they 'aged' McKean and made him look haggard and older after 25 years.

I know I am typecasting people, but I will always see McKean as Lenny. "Helllllo La verne."

Agreed! For a split second, when they showed Jack injecting himself, I thought they were flashing back in his mind to an event in the past. Then it was clear that the other images - the entire scenario with the doctor - was in his mind. I didn't even pick up on the fact that the "nurse" who took his jacket was really a bum. Great writing, and nice editing.

The acting throughout the episode was also top notch, IMO, as many have said. Great episode!

So, if those scenes with the Doctor were in Jack's imagination, just what was he digging out of his hand in the previous episode? Or was that all in his imagination as well?

Totally agree!

Good episode, I sure wish ABC would stop immediately jumping into the preview for next week.

I can't believe nobody has commented on the scene with the 'double plated titanium' safe. What good is titanium when you can just cut the hinges off the door? One of the dumbest moments in Alias history, right up there with the helicopter with never ending ammo from a few weeks ago.

My guess is that it was a hallucination because the "young" Dr. Lenny explained what it was. Still it was a bit strange and wonder if it's another plot device for another episode or totally unrelated hallucination element.

Excellent episode. Finally brought back some "soul" to the show. This season has been a bit sterile for me.

It was so ridiculous that I couldn't even be mad about it. It just approached I Love Lucy or Indy Jones shooting the guy with the sword funny. I actually laughed out loud, and that's rare.

I thought the safe was dumb too. Did you notice that the door did not have any bolts nor did the frame have any holes to recieve them? Maybe it was some sort of electro magnetic safe that does not use bolts or some other nonsense. I think they made that prop out of a mini fridge.
Gee, how long until they find out Nadia has a necklace that is transmitting everything they say?
Sonia Braga is doing a great job of playing someone you love to hate!

Rumor... Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
Nadia may not be back full time next year.

Well, it was stated the chemical got transferred to a low security location, though I admit that's a bit extreme

Am I the only one here who wouldn't mind if Nadia got the ol' double tap in the head?
I can't stand her character and her whole back story.
To me, she's the Buffy equivilent of Marc Belucs (SP?)

Do away with her and make Sloan go nuts.

James Spader is probably very happy right now. Another Red Sox fan on the way.

I say push production back and show S5 like S4. Wait until January and show all of the episodes with no reruns.

The easiest solution is to do a shortened season. That's what they did with the 5th season of Sex and the City when Sarah Jessica Parker got pregnant.
They could incorporate it into the Rambaldi storyline somehow.

They'd still have to begin production at the same time as a normal season (like what they did with S4).

They'll just have Sydney carry Rambaldi's baby, and then Project Christmas will really take off!
