"This show gets more and more like Buffy each episode."

At least SMG was easy to look at...
Second reference I've seen to MI:5. I'd love to take a look, but the DVD sets are $40 for S1 and $70 for S2.

And Jennifer Garner isn't?! Check your eyes, my friend! Yowzers!
I prefer Jennifer Garner's chizeled body far more over SMG's almost-anorexic build. And I'm a bigger fan of Buffy than Alias.

BTW, I think Garner has been going through the motions since the middle of season 3. Maybe thats what Nadia is there for? In case Garner ever ditches JJ Abrams.

Interesting thought. The prophecy does predict that one of them will die eventually, no?
The into shows that Garner is Alias. If she leaves, the series is over. I suspect that her less involved performance might be due to her filming movies at the same time- doesn't leave much time for sleep.
I honestly don't really see Garner making a HUGE dent in the film industry. The movies I've seen her in weren't really all that spectacular and aren't films I would see again.

Absolutely disagree. Buffy was one of the best television shows we'll ever see, created by people who loved and cared passionately about what they did. At this point, if the writers and producers of Alias aren't going through the motions, they need to get out of the television-making business. This show seriously has no soul. Mission. Exposition. Mission. Mission. Jennifer Garner. Jennifer Garner's body. Mission. Mission. Exposition. Almost continuity. Mission.

Garner has said on a number of ocassions that she
would stick with the show for the duration.

She also signed a contract keeping her on through at least 7 seasons. So she's not going anywhere.
She may not be going anywhere, but a contract hardly ensures that.

I thought the contract was more of a development deal with ABC not necessarily with Alias.

I believe it was for Alias..She would've been a fool not to sign it, because ABC bumped her salary up to 250k per..

"The Index"

I'll say it again: Nadia is hardcore. Don't mess with Nadia, you'll be getting the horns.
Was that index the thing Sloane tried to steal in season 2? I can't remember which ep.
They're halfway through the season (assuming there's only twenty episodes this year) and I have to say that my favorite stuff so far this year has been little charcter moments and jokes. The episodes are progressively getting better too. Tonight's episode was probably my favorite this year except for Welcome To Liberty Village.

I can't wait to see what Jack and Sloane's plans are...

But I have to ask how many family members on this show have returned when they were thought to be dead? This new Vaughan storyline sorta seems lame (only due to the repeat factor) but I'm willing to give it a chance to see where they go with it.
there are 22 episodes this year, not 20. The first episode counts as 2.

As for the episode it was pretty awesome. My new fave this year with Echoes and Liberty Village behind it.

Great commercial for the brand new 2005 Ford Mustang in the middle of the show......oh wait, that was part of the show.

Seriously, though, Nadia could drive my 'Stang any time she wanted to. Yeah, baby!
At least no one said, "Get that 2005 Ford Mustang to Building 37!"

While in Brussels, they were traveling in a Ford 500 and a new Ford Mustang. I don't believe either vehicle is available in Europe, although there may be a few new Mustangs imported at great expense. Either way, it would be a pretty conspicuous way for spies to travel.

For product placement, it was a lot less embarassingly conspicuous than the various money shots of the nameplates during car chases in S2 and the "get in the F-150" episode from S3. The only truly great use of Ford product placement I have seen in a show was this past Sunday's Arrested Development. That was inspired and hilarious. (I already mentioned it in the thread for that show).

Regards,

The tragedy of Sidney's life is that it seems she doesn't have an unconditional love/trust relationship with a single person in the world. Even Nadia, her blood (half) sister, seems to be one foot in long lost sisterly love land and one foot in don't make me angry... you wouldn't like me when I'm angry land.
Good point...and Nadia, who always seems so sweet, is showing her bitter side.

As always, there were some great one-liners between Nadia's birthday speech to Jack's hybird comment...I like the direction the season is starting to take.
Actually, I found this episode to be rather boring up until the last 15 minutes or so. They just seemed to be re-hashing the "Sloane is untrusworthy, evil etc." angle, without ever advancing the story. I find myself watching the episodes for those couple of minutes that are actually interesting in the hope that something is actually going to happen this season.

You know something is wrong with the show when Sydney comes off as annoying & whiney and you much prefer it when Nadia is on screen. The only things holding this show together are Jack , Sloane and Nadia. If the rest of the cast was killed off I wouldn't care.

OK, that's the end of my little rant .

Last nights episode was pretty good. Although it was pretty predictable, there were some good humorous moments. It has actually grabbed my attention enough to make me watch next week.

When Jack went on about oil demand, etc. and then said "So, yes I would recommend a hybrid" was hilarious.
Ken,

I remember when they specifically pointed out the Ford Focus SVT in season 2 and that's exactly what I thought of when they were pimping the Mustang last night. I would say that only Ford pays the big bucks to advertise their cars on Alias, but they showcased the new Cadillac XLR convertible in the Liberty Village episode so I guess the show is equal opportunity when it comes to shilling for car companies.

It reminded me of "Debbie Downer" from SNL

Ron Rifkin's reaction to Weiss calling Sloane "Arvin" was classic (in addition to the earlier scene when Sloane catches him out).

This episode was better, but no one will ever convince me that Sloane isn't simply a misunderstood good guy!

+1. This self contained thing has got to go.
It's working, I think. The episodes in season 1-2 were largely self-contained, with an ongoing story arc present. The only really big difference is the lack of a 5 minute cliff-hanger on every episode.

I'm assuming the finale will be a 2-hour one as well (20 episodes, 2 of which this season were two parters). If you look at the available dates, Lost 1.24 will coincide with the 20th episode of Alias, which likely means the following Wednesday ALIAS will be from 8-10.
