ALIAS season 4 ongoing thread (merged) - Page 12

I also thought this was a nice episode, where the mission took second place to the simmering pain and acknowledgement that working at APO was exacting a psychological toll on Sydney. This is the sort of stuff that harkens back to the early seasons of Alias. Anyone else see a small smile from Sloane at the very end?
I though the same thing about Sloane sorta smiling at the end of the episode.

Anything they've done this year with Sloane has great. Unfortunately, he hasn't done a whole lot but the showdowns between him and Sydney (and him and Dixon last week) have been season highlights for me.

Yeah, that was great, Patrick! I think it firmly signals (in case there was ever a doubt) that Arvin is still ARVIN, and it really helps set the stage for the two-parter beginning next week. As far as self-contained episodes go, this was a good one. If this episode aired in week two, I think many fans (myself included) would have been less harsh in our judging of season 4. It almost feels like the creative team has found its rhythm and now knows how to write and execute a successful stand-alone show. With sixteen episodes to go, let's hope they learned their lesson well.

Sydney is like the girl you've had a crush on since grade school and Nadia the high school foreign exchange student who makes you see there's a whole other country to consider.
Well said

I didn't find this episode to be that interesting, in fact I skipped a few minutes after one of the commercial breaks because there was something more interesting on another channel.

For most of the episode I just wanted to yell at Sydney "Get over it already!" For a spy she sure whines a lot. Suck it up or do something about it

Dixon has been very underused this season.

And I know this show has never been realistic but if the CIA wanted to keep an eye on Sloane why would they put him in charge instead of make him a consultant?

i haven't read this whole thread, so I am not sure if anyone else mentioned this, but would someone buy them a tripod! I am really sick of the whole shaky (not so) steady cam look they are trying to do. I do also think they have really dumbed down the show quite a bit, with their simple missions and such.

I am really losing interest in this season. I don't know how much longer I can watch. I found myself so bored last night. I was always rivet by the show. I also don't really like the sister too much. It seems to slow down the show. It is time for her to go.

Speaking of underused characters, Jack has barely done anything this year... except stand next to or talk to Sloane.

They need to cross him over to 24 so Jack Bristow and Jack Bauer can team up and kick ass!
I'd been with the show since day one, but that was the last episode for me.

Do we really need yet another scene where Syd tells Sloane how much she hates him? Sweet Jesus, what do the writers take us for? If people are all that impressed with Sloane having a little smirk at the end of an episode, well, let's just say that we have different standards about what makes a worthwhile episode. Once I saw the godawful "Sisters!" commerical I realized that I was no longer part of the target audience. Bygones.

Sorry my standards aren't up to yours.

Me and the wife used to really like Alias but recently, we just watch it to critique it. Sad but it seems most of what's happening is basically a half hearted attempt to get viewers inrested again. Granted there r some highlights but it seems u have to look for these highlights instead of enjoying the season.

On another note, does anyone think Jennifer Garner's charm has been corrupted by an otherwordly presence...say an Affleck kind...

Travis,

I dig your idea. Just think of it, "the two Jacks" on the loose and kicking major terrorist ass. Now that would be a good show.

Yes, PLEASE. I got motion sickness watching that episode. However, I don't ever recall watching another episode with such bad camera work.

After last week's crapathon, just about anything would be better. Not only was this week's better, it's the kind of episode I've been waiting for since 'Liberty Village'. Glad to see Anna's back starting next week.

I'd watch. How about it, "You don't got Jack."

In next week's epiosde Anna should morph into the character Gina Torres played in Angel (Jasmine). That might add a whole other element to the show this season.

I enjoyed the show a bit better this week but it's still missing something. Maybe it's something called an arc. There were a few character moments and they didnt go overboard on the whole Sydney/Vaughn thing which I am tired of.

I'm excited that Anna and Sark are coming back, but I was so beyond bored with Wednesday's episode and just hoping that it would kick into high gear....hopefully (sigh) next week will do that since two cool characters are coming back.
Are they going to be on for the rest of the season or just a couple of episodes?
I don't know for sure but I'd bet that Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
Sark and Anna
were coming back for just a few episodes and maybe a few more episodes later in the year.

I kept the spoilers covered just in case someone didn't read most of the other posts and wanted to be surprised

Agreed Pat. Finally got around to seeing this the other night on tape. I personally thought it was the best of the season so far. A weak season overall for sure, but this one was well done.

Hope it continues.

According to TV Guide, one of the Alias May sweeps events will be

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
the return of Irina Derevko. (the article mentions they're in the process of hammering out a deal with Lena Olin)

Needless to say, this news makes me quite happy.

Sounds like this might be one of the big season-ender things.

Good episode. The best all season.

Nadia went through a lotta hell this episode!
I agree. This was definitely the best episode of the season and I hope they are finally getting the show on track. Good to see Anna, Sark and the Rembaldi storyline all come back in the same episode......I just wish they hadn't wasted the first 7 episodes of the season getting to this.
This was one damn dark and gritty episode.

Loved the shake-n-bake van ride that Sark got, loved seeing his face smashing into the walls and floor.

The clipping off the finger was pretty gruesome stuff.

Loved the "You mess with a friend of Flinkman, you get Flinkman." line (something like that).

The Anna-Sydney fight had a few good kicks and punches, seemed like old times, for sure. "She can have the blouse."
Now tonight's episode is what I'm talking about! It's too bad it's taken so long for them to kick-start the season, but as long as they keep it up I'll forgive and forget.

This was the best episode this year yet. And unlike most people, I don't think this season has been terrible.
Now THIS is more like it!

Did anyone else notice the striking similarity (by design?) to the climax of tonight's show with the dream scene in the 3rd season episode "Remnants"? Or, am I reading too much into this?
Can someone remind me who Anna is?
She was Syd's nemesis in Season 1.
Best episode of the season, too bad ABC had to ruin the cliffhanger ending by instantly going to next week's preview right after "ALIAS" flashed.
I liked how they had a True Lies reference.
