ALIAS season 4 ongoing thread (merged) - Page 11

Agreed with just about everyone here re: this week's episode. On the other hand, this was sort of like ST:TNG's "Night Terrors", which I enjoyed far more than it deserved simply because I enjoy the creepiness of people seeing things that aren't there. But certainly a waste of time.

Also, I can't believe that the fact that Dixon and Sloane killed each other's wives wasn't brought up in that little chat they had at the end. You'd think maybe it would be somewhat relevant to their strained relationship? And this whole "we know Sloane is going to betray us so this time we'll be ready" stuff is cute and all, except we saw this last season, when it was actually more plausible and he wasn't RUNNING A BLACK OPS CIA UNIT OH THE HUMANITY

This episode was a first for me: first time I've ever been bored by Alias!

You know it's pretty bad when you watch Project Runway and everything else on your Tivo before Alias. After the really good last episode, I didn't expect to find this craptastic ep where everyone seemed divorced both from continuity and their emotions. I'm committed to sticking it out until the return of Anna Espinosa, but if this season doesn't redeem itself by the end of May I won't be watching S5 (As someone who didn't hate S3, I can't believe I just wrote that!).

So I'm not the only one who didn't really like that episode? I mean vampires? Sheesh. It was nice to see Syd kicking Vaughan's ass and Dixon actually standing up to Sloane, other than that it was just there. Vampires?
I don't see this as a vampire episode but rather if you followed it says something about a brain altering drug to keep people from sleeping. The fact they didn't know the after affects of it I'm guessing from what it said produced the effect that caused Sydney to get bit.

Personally I wasn't too bothered by it and actually am still enjoying the series.

I put off watching it becaue of what people had said here in the forum. Boy were all of you right. What a crappy episode.
Coincidentally E.W reviewed it this week and though they gave it a B- they said they dont like the season too much because it has been stripped of most everything that used to make the show good, including story arcs.

Wondered who the person was that the episode was dedicated to (Tricia k.Goken) and it turns out it was the Script Supervisor of Alias, killed in a car crash in January.

The whole vampire thing ( and yes I understand that it wasn't about real vampires) comes from how she was bitten, the creepy drawings in the guys room and the guy who they called The Count.

Basically nothing made sense in the episode. There was no continuity. How Vaughn ended up getting the anitdote was as about as believable as Sloan headed up a black ops. The episode went far too fast and had far too many loopholes.

Yeah. Not a good episode. But it did cross my mind that the vampire thing might have been a nod to the fact that a few of the show's new writers just came off a famous vampire show or two.

Every time this show tries to be like the X-Files, it just reminds me that the X-Files was a better show (in its day). Still, Garner has never looked better; the bangs suit her.

I'm really dissappointed in this season also. It seems to me the writers are trying to make this show receptive to viewers who have never seen it, while alienating the long time fans of the series.

Where are the great story arcs?

Where are the great subplots?

Those are things that made the show great and this season they are all missing, and it SUCKS!
I'm liking it better than season 3. Once the season arc starts up I'll be more interested.

I thought season 3 was a lot better than most people and so far I think this season is the worst one yet. I'm just hoping it picks up and gets back to the old form that made it one of my favorite shows on TV.

As a new viewer of the series who just watched all three prior seasons back to back, this is by far the worst season IMO.

The thing I don't understand is why everyone slags the 3rd season. I enjoyed it more than the first season. The first season started off great but got into a rut at times with missions becoming a tad repetitive. By the end of the first season the storylines picked up and I was hooked. The second season rocked and third was good as well. Maybe my expectations for season 3 were low, but I liked it. It didn't hurt that Melissa George was some extra tasty eye-candy

Sure, Season 3 was all over the map but it was still better than what this season has been like so far.

I've been with Alias since its beginning -- watching the premiere episode and being hooked when Danny was killed and the show revealed its true nature.

But S4 is boring me. I liked Alias for its wild, over-arching story lines. I enjoyed the SD6 subterfuge. I liked the crazy Rambaldi quasi-mystical pursuits. Evil Francie killing real Francie and Wil leaving town was incredible drama! Syd's missing year was very intriguing.

But now, it's become episode of the week. There's nothing wrong with that, but it's not what I'm interested in these days, and it's the weakest part of Alias. Perhaps it's gaining new viewers, who would be lost by Rambaldi-esque plots, but I fear it's going to cost the show its core audience who watched the show for its complex stories.

I'll stick with it for now, but I'm losing interest.

Has anyone counted how many "aliases" of Sydney's are in the new opening credits montage? I heard it's either 81 or 181, or was it 151? I guess I could watch last week's recording and find out myself, but I find myself losing count after about 8.
DaveF, that is almost exactly how I feel. I got several friends into this show and touted it this year and have had people over to watch, but I find even myself bored at times. Hopefully it will pick up so I don't lose credibility

Sadly, this is usually the highlight of the episodes so far this season.
I think the recent article in Entertainment Weekly mentions the number of aliases...
I read 51.
Shouldn't it be 47?
Yes and if you play it in reverse Rambaldi secrets are revealed.

I know what you mean.

Oh well, at least Battle Star Galactica is "Alias Season 1 good", as I recommended it to a friend.

Excellent!
There are 52 frames (I think) and 47 Aliases.

I read some interesting stuff in TV guide that has me convinced there will be a story arc this season. We've only seen 6 episodes.
Anyone else not really looking forward to tonight's ep? lol.
I'm not as excited as I would normally be, but will be watching nonetheless. On a positive note, it can't be worse than last week.........can it?
anyone else find it funny the shots of LA are still skyscrapers and yet they now work in an underground facility?
Not a bad episode, but the preview with Sark and Anna actually has me optimistic about what might be ahead in the weeks to come.
The best part of this episode was when Marshall pretended to propose to Jack and the look on Jack's face.

I'm excited to see Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
the return of Sark and Anna
next week.

You know I was feeling the same way after I finished Lost and was about to start Alias. I wasn't excited as I usually am to watch this show. By the end though, I kinda liked the episode and the trailer to next week's episode really caught my attention.

Okay now guys, who's hotter? Sydney or Nadia? I say Sydney, but Nadia is making up ground quickly.
Nadia looked DAMN GOOD in this episode(especially when they were all dressed up in the guy's hotel room). I actually think she may be hotter than Jennifer Garner now.

Sydney is like the girl you've had a crush on since grade school and Nadia the high school foreign exchange student who makes you see there's a whole other country to consider.
