Yeah nice price on that Beethoven SA-CD set. Less expensive than US Amaz price both now and when I mentioned it one page back.

Steve Wilson-Grace For Drowning.......Pink Floyd-DSOTM Immersion box[both Blu ray]

Danny: Do tell re that HOTEL CALIFORNIA SA-CD. Price, source, any comparative comments to the DVD-A, etc.?

Looks like we're getting some more high rez Rush. Of the band's 15 album on Mercury records, it appears UMG selected one album of each of their chronological grouping of five per box set to get a DVD-A release.

SIGNALS, my current favorite workout album, just keeps getting better with age. And I dig 80s Rush. So I'll likely get "Sector 3" first.

Pink Floyd-WYWH Immersion box[Blu ray

I finally broke down and got a Marantz SA8004 SACD player. The Pioneer 59AVi I have been using sounds surprisingly good, but I'd like a less analytical sound. Here's hoping the Marantz Does the trick

I got Stevie Ray's In Step & The Sky Is crying on Mofi SA-CD. My Forigner Sack-Dees have shipped too!

Picked up a bunch including Brain Salad Surgery on DVD-Audio, the remaining Nat King Cole SACDs I did not have, and more Mofis.

I still want to pick up the newer King Crimson releases on DVD-Audio.

Also, I have gotten into computer audio with a Mac Mini plus Benchmark DAC1 Pre (Belkin Gold USB cable between) so I have 24/96 FLAC of Tom Petty, Hotel California and Paper Airplane.

Anyone looking for the SACD of Elton John's Goodbye Yellow Brick Road should be able to find them currently at their local Best Buy.

I just saw a bunch of them at my local BB tonight....on sale for just $16.99.  They were on an endcap in the CD section with a bunch of other "Deluxe Edition" CDs also on sale:  Frampton, U2, Live @ Leeds, Quadraphenia, etc.  The GYBR was the only high-rez disc in the mix...but I was tempted...but I declined since I already have the DVD-A.

Mike,

Beware. Not all Deluxe Editions include 5.1 or Hi-Rez layers.

Thanks, Keith.  Understood.

That's why I only mentioned the Elton John disc.  It was the only one in the big group with an SACD disc included.

The Cat Stevens SA-CD is a revelation compared to the paltry CD's I've heard. I made cassettes of Cat Stevens back in the 70's that sounded better than the miserable CD I own but could hardly bear to listen to. The Cat is back for me.

Relaxin' by Miles Davis--it will be a stocking stuffer, so I haven't heard it yet, but hey, with Miles and Coltrane, how can I go wrong?

THIS SACD will be under my Christmas tree.

I can't wait!  I don't think I can go wrong either!  biggrin.gif

Starting to get back into hirez again since I purchased a new player that makes things easier for me to enjoy my collection. I picked up the Elton John Goodbye Yellow Brick Road deluxe edition with the SACD at Best Buy. I also got Rush's Moving Pictures with the hires Blu-ray. I spent a lot of time trying to decide between the Blu-ray and the DVD-Audio version and decided on the Blu.

Got an e-mail response from Benjamin Zander recently. He's currently in London recording the Mahler 2 with the Philharmonia (again), this time with the intention of releasing it on Telarc SACD. GREAT news.

Recently purchased the SFSO "Keeping Score" Blu-ray on Mahler. Nice preparation for the L.A. Phil's upcoming Mahler Project. Going to nine concerts presenting all of the symphonies, starting next Friday with M4 and "Songs Of A Wayfarer." Wicked.

John Coltrane and Johnny Hartman (SACD stereo/mono) and Beach Boys' Pet Sounds (DVD-A MCH). Haven't had time to listen through them yet but will do so soon.

Oh, and Mahler 10 - Simon Rattle, Berlin Philharmonic. DVD-A.

I picked up a DTS disc of Miles Davis' Sketches of Spain from a online auction. I did not realize this was a Monster Promo item. The original recording was 3 channel. This DVD has a 5.1 mic as well as a hi-rez stereo mix. The 5.1 was mixed based on the location of the musicians in the studio, which was determined from the photos from the session. I have to admit it is a very nice mix, not gimmicky at all. It sounds very natural.

I've been buying a boat load of DAD and HDAD discs lately, many of which are on sale at Acoustic Sounds but also found on Amazon Marketplace for $3 shipping.
Keith, what's the UPC of that Sketches Of Spain release? I'm aware of a 2-CD Deluxe Edition and the SA-CD but not a DTS release.

As of this typing, it looks like the DVD-Audio Registry site has taken a dump again. I've seen this before and it came back; I wonder if it will again this time . . .

There's an SACD of Oscar Peterson's We Get Requests album just released today.

$30 at Acoustic Sounds.

$37.56 @ Amazon

That's a little rich for me right now.  Anyone getting it?  I'd love to hear some reviews.
