Worst DVD covers! - Page 10

I'm rather disappointed by the Criterion DVD cover of 'Ran'. How unoriginal and bland can you get! There are plenty of images to pick from in that excellent film to use as a cover.

from davisdvd.com

forgot to add that this is probably the art, not the one with the banner on the top.

American covers of Chinese movies always get bad covers.

Starring some woman who isn't even in the movie, apparantly.
Jet Li gets lots of bad covers

Jackie Chan also gets lots of bad covers...

And I was holding back!

Chan looks like he just got a slat in the nuts on the 'Shanghai Noon' cover...

Jackie also looks like he's wearing the same black outfit on 5 of those covers, all Miramax releases I think. Probably all photoshopped from the same publicity shoot. If they where of Jackie wearing kahkis and a white jacket, I might beleive they where actually from the movies, but all black?

No imagination. And not a particularly interesting expression on Pacino's face even. Apparently it is similar to the original marketing, but still, come on!

Yeah....but nonetheless, the DVD cover to Serpico is pretty much the original poster:

Can't find it anymore, but there was a site showing all the Jackie Chan covers that came from the same black shirt photo session, there were a lot of them!

She was the therapist in the movie.

Jet's face in Twin Warriors and the Enforcer are exactly the same!
The Project A cover uses photos of Jackie and Sammo probably like 20 years after the movie was made, judging by all the wrinkles in their faces.

The therapist was Kelly Chen, right?

These are pretty awful too:

Vicki Zhao's hair grew!

I can't stand the Fox Film Noir covers. They use the original poster art but they put it an weird angle, with an ugly background.

I don't know the Film Noir movies but my guess is those are alternate posters in the background. I think it looks kind of nice. Or at least artistic and thought out. Unlike the usual photoshop crap.

If Miramax was releasing those you would likely have pictures of the actor's 20 years after the movies photoshoped together.
Actually I think those are fairly decent, I can understand the frustration, but I definately don't think they could be considered Worst.
I think the Fox Noir covers look waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better than alot of others shown here.
They're not the WORST but the posters on the Fox Film Noir covers should be head on, and not an angle. They could be as beautiful as WB's original poster art DVD covers if they did that.

Just horrible and unclassy. Where did all the green come from?
OMG!

In this post-Matrix world, how else will we know it's science fiction?
Maybe all Sci-fi DVD's should feature theremin music in the menus juuuust in case people still don't get that it is sci-fi.

In the case of "Gattaca" that's exactly it. Hence, it is another disc that is now P&S only.

I just picked up the Poltergeist 2/3 Double Feature DVD at Best Buy, and the cover art is simply terrible. It seriously looks like art for a crummy bootlegged release. Check it out for yourselves, you'll see what I mean...

Connosieurs of shit - I have something exceptional for you ! Check out the cover for JOURNEY TO THE CENTRE OF THE EARTH :

Get your head around that !
I don't know, that's kind of cool in a grade school kind of way.
Check these clunkers, all for the same film!

The second cover looks like it was whipped up a moronic graphic design student.
Why would "Kill Cruise" rate a "Collector's Edition" anyway?
The "quality" of the third Kill Cruise cover makes it look as though Ms. Kensit is growing a third boob. A real saggy one at that.
Ugh.

A shame since this film had good poster art.

What's the deal with this thread? Every other thread, I click on "first new post" and get to the first new post. This one, I always start out on that Gattaca poster.

Because of all the graphics, your browser kind of loses its place after they finish loading. Happens to me, too.
