OK, time to talk about... Anaconda 2 !

Yep, it's on the way. And apparently it's NOT going DTV. At least not as of right now....

The skinny:

Directed by Dwight (Free Willy 2, Halloween 4, Marked for Death, Rapid Fire, Murder at 1600) Little

Starring Johnny Messner, Morris Chestnut, Eugene Byrd, Peter Curtis, Nicholas Gonzalez and even more people you've never head of.

Sony aims to release it theatrically on 8/27.

First title: Anaconda 2: The Black Orchid
Second title: Anacondas
Third title: Anacondas: The Hunt for the Black Orchid
Fourth title: Venom (despite the fact that anacondas possess about as much venom as do Care Bears)
Fifth title: Anacondas: The Hunt for the Blood Orchid

I guess they're gonna need some last-minute ADR to turn all the "Black Orchid"s into "Blood Orchid"s, but oh well. I bet it's a schlocky retarded hoot.

Bad, schmad; I just like seeing movies where people get eaten by giant animals. Is that so wrong?

Have you heard of the even more intriguing high concept vehicle - Snakes on a Plane?

Think about it - everything you need to know about a movie all in the title.

Here is what the potential director, Ronny Yu, had to say:
Quote:
"It's called 'Snakes on a Plane.' The second they told me the storyline I said I want to do this movie. It's about a plane on the way from Honolulu to Los Angeles, and when they're halfway [into their flight], 500 poisonous snakes get released, and the first one to get killed is the pilot. As the audience I say, how the hell can they get out of the situation? I'd like to see it! So I said I want to do that. Hopefully we'll start shooting soon."
Genius!

People get paid to come up with this stuff?

Snakes on a Plane sounds interesting IMO.

Anaconda 2, well it doesn't.

Heh, I'd read that piece on Snakes on a Plane. Sounds right up my alley.

In similar news:

In the wake of such recent undead boxoffice breakouts as "28 Days Later" and "Dawn of the Dead," Lions Gate Films is fast-tracking its own zombie picture, "Flight of the Dead," for a September start date, sources said. "Flight" follows the tale of two zombies being shipped back to their homeland after they are captured. But when the deadly creatures come unexpectedly to life aboard an airplane, the begin to wreak high-altitude havoc.

Homeland? I've seen Zombie-ism depicted as a mystical force, as a virus, etc...but never as a nationality

I'm waiting for the "night of the undead zombie snakes on a plane" movie, myself. It won't be as good as Robert Townsends' "Attack of the Street Pimps" - but then, what movie is?

Throw in Roy Schneider, some bees, and a guy running on fire, and I'm there.

Sounds like something from the Critic to me. Kind of like Beverlyhills K9 Cop and a half...2

I liked it more when it was called Jason X...actually, I probably didn't like it more since I hated it.

High concept films sell so well in Hollywood and usually do so poorly in the rest of the US. Snakes I'm sure did well at pitches because it is so high concept, the setup is immediately clear, the dramatic tension is obvious, the only problem is that they forget that unless they have something else to do with it you effectivly have the screenplay version of a one-hit wonder moment. But of course the producers just figure they can throw some cash at the script and work something up around it.

Sorry Scott, I can't join in your enthusiasm on these, not unless I found out that by some miracle someone decided to expand on these scenarios and make something truly interesting.

They're greenlighting all this crap yet George Romero still can't get his 4th dead movie financed.

How about...

Anaconda 2: Snakes Don't Eat People

Tagline: "Oh They Don't?"

LOL!

John Voight was the biggest spare in this movie. What a gimp! It's Anaconda skin. Whee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Actually, Dwight Little directed the 4th halloween movie.

Rick Rosenthal directed Halloween 2.

I'd be interested in these only if the acting doesn't suck, and it's fun as a good action movie. Anaconda didn't totally suck, but if they end up like those video store giant snake movies... they're gonna suck...

Snakes Don't Eat People...Snakes SWALLOW People! Then Regurgitate Them! Then Swallow Them Again!

I actually really liked Murder at 1600 and Halloween 2. So there's a small chance this film will be slightly less crappy than the first (abiet a small, microscopic chance!!)

I also quite like Halloween 2, but as Robert pointed out: Dwight Little directed Halloween 4, while Part 2 was Rick Rosenthal (The Birds 2, American Dreamer, Bad Boys (83).

My mistake.
I think Halloween 4 is better than Halloween 2 anyways.

Can we expect an Anaconda 2-Disc Deluxe Edition to tie in?
Why not? They've already done the SuperBit version.

Snakes on a Plane.. hmmm.. GENIOUS! Greenlight it! Ok, what's next? "Spiders on a Disneyland Ride" GENIOUS! I love it!

You know, I always thought they could do a follow up to 28 days later.. except "44 days later" or something; and set it in another country; how the "RAGE" spread to the US or Germany or somewhere
post #26 of 37
Just imagine: A group of people sitting around a table drawing up the plans to make this movie and all of them excited because they honestly believe it's a good idea. I can see it now, one of them interupting everyone with a "great idea", and as he unfoils the plan the whole group smiles and says "that has to make it into the movie".

What's so sad is it probably never crossed their mind that this was a bad idea from the start.

I'm always surprised at the type of crappy movies that get the green light. There have to be better movies out there waiting to be made. Why stick us with this crap? And yes, I have an opinion about a movie I haven't even seen. It's pure crap. I won't even waste my time on this film. Wish I hadn't have wasted my time on the first one.

Have to agree with this. Snakes on a Plane??? I have the whole story already pictured in my head.
People see snakes, stand on chairs and scream then snakes come out of overhead compartments followed by more screaming. Then people run, and all try and squeeze into the bathroom or other small cramped areas.
All the while someone who flew a plane once when they were a kid is elected to take over for the dead pilot, as his future wife guards the door and other places the snakes will come from.
In the end they land just in the nick of time and everyone who already isn't dead lives happily ever after. Until a few years later when they decide to go on a cruise.

If I'm wrong, I'll print this out and eat my words.

I'm guessing they are referring to Haiti and other areas in the vicinity.

The first Anaconda movie was one of the worst piles of garbage I've ever seen, and I have no feeling at all that this would be any better.
