OK, I've finally decided to ask something that has been bugging me. In your cable reviews, you sometimes feature optical cables, and in the latest month's review, you go on to state that the material used glass instead of some plastic made a difference. I completely fail to understand how this is possible. I understand how metallic conductors can change things to a certain extent, but in a digital connection, if all the 0's and 1's line up, there can't possibly be a difference. Unless the protocol that is used across those connections is written poorly (re-transmits, etc...), I just don't see it.
