The direct-to-video sequel, S.W.A.T.: Firefight, was announced for release on March 1. Still no word on Season 2 of the TV series.

Thanks for the information. That is good news for the movie but not for season 2 of the series. It seems to me they put the series out a few months before the movie but I will still keep hoping anyway.

hopefully with the new movie season 2 will be released.

Since Sony already has a licensing deal in place with Shout factory, I'm hoping Shout will release the second/last season of S.W.A.T.—along with a few other stranded series like Hart to Hart and Charlie's Angels.

Would like to see the second season of S.W.A.T released on DVD, along with the pilot TV movie on the TV series The Rookies (in it's third season).

I think it is closing in on like 7/8 years since the first season was released. I have my doubts in S2 will ever be released considering it has been so long. You add in the fact that SWAT movie 2 was released directly to dvd and they did push S2 makes me wonder if it has been dropped all together.

Has anyone noticed Season TWO IS available as an import? Yep. And you can buy episodes from Season Two in Amazon...Lame they can do that but not give it to us on DVD. frown.gif

Really? WOW! That's exciting news. Any ideas on when that release date might be?

According to TVShowsonDVD.com season two of S.W.A.T. will be released on May 22nd. It has just been announced by Shout! Factory.

Can anyone tell me the difference in ordering this from amazon or the Shout! Factory website itself. I have never understood the difference there?

NINE YEARS between releases. The only other show that I think could top that at this point is "Baretta".

This is a great news! I purchased S1 on sales many years ago and love the show. I am huge fan of Robert Ullrich and shows like Vega$ and SWAT were great roles for him.

It is two bad this series only ran for two years, but it was two wonderful years. I thought there was a crossover with the Rookies as part SWAT, but i could be wrong.

Steve Forrest is a great classic actor, I like him here and if other fans don't have it yet I'll recommend the underrated action series he did in England in the mid-1960s, The Baron. It's also fun to see Mark Shera on SWAT, just before he became a regular on Barnaby Jones.

And the only reason they did it was due to Robert Blake's trial. I think that was a stupid reason if you ask me.

So nice to see someone else mention Mark Shera, he never get the recognition he deserves for the role he played making that show popular.

Mark Shera was on Barnaby Jones, right? We should also talk about Rod Perry (2nd in charge) along with the sniper (James Coleman). James Coleman and Shera were good friends and hung out together. I remember episode from S1 were there was an episode when coleman's character sister was dating luca. Luca always reminded me bit of David Starsky character (Starsky and Hutch) a bit of a ladies man!!

Steve Forrest was also on Dallas in the 1980s when he was playing a ranch hand wes parmalee.

Robert Ullrich had an interesting role as he tended to be by himself. I remember him taking college courses and/or do other things outside of work. I do not remember him hanging out with T.J. or Luca outside of work.

Overall, SWAT was a classic show that ended too soon.

Forrest was also in a rumor of war about Philip caputo's tour in Vietnam. rumor of war is also made by the fries brothers and has not made it to dvd.

looks like the coverart is up. kudos.
LOL! I think the cover art pretty much proved my point about Mark Shera not getting the credit he deserved in this series. They do have his name in the billing but if you look at the photo you can barely see him. Not that it matters to me, as long as I get the episodes from the final season on DVD, I will be a happy camper. smile.gif

TVShowsOnDVD news article about S.W.A.T.: The Final Season (Season 2), including 3D front cover artwork for the Shout boxset:

S.W.A.T.: The Final Season (Season 2) front cover artwork - TVShowsOnDVD.com news article

Were both the season premiere "Deadly Tide" and the episode "The Running Man" both feature length episodes?

No mention in the above linked news article about the feature length pilot. Hopefully the second season set of The Rookies (also coming from Shout) will sell well enough for that show's third season to be released (which includes the feature length pilot of S.W.A.T.).

Yes both of those episodes were feature length and both of them seemed like a movie of the week instead of an episode since they had a title card and the guest stars names in the opening credits. "Running Man" really didn't seem like much of a SWAT episode, it seemed more like a spin-off episode.

The cover art looks great! Can't wait to get it. I always wondered why they didn't put out the entire box set instead of making everyone wait. It's not like the modern day movie ever became a breakout hit.

I received my S2 set today and watched the terror ship and few other episodes. The S2 set quality is very good in terms of its sound/picture. However, the two episodes i watched were different in a way on how SWAT was being portrayed, especially appearing on doing more investigation into the crimes. I did not think the role of SWAT was to investigate the crime, but support police in particular situation, i.e. hostage taking, bomb threats, terrorist actions, etc.

S1, which was short appears to stay to its roots to what SWAT was expected to do in their mid 1970s.

I have been watching SWAT S2 this week and have thoroughly enjoy this show. I did notice some interest things about the show intro. The sniper (James Coleman) grabs the sniper rifle and enter the van with the sniper rife, but when he exits the fan he is carrying the m16.

Hondo was a married man with kids in S1, but S2 it appears he is single and there is no mention of his family.

Mark Shera's character is a bit of playboy and that makes it interesting with his colleague James Coleman, who tends to be shy. Robert Ulrich doe not play much of lady's man, which is far cry from his character on Vega$.

Rod Perry does an amazing job as the 2nd in command, especially providing leadership to shera, coleman and ulrich's SWAT character.

SWAT is amazing show, it is too bad it was only on for two season. The techniques of SWAT are very similar with today's police officer training. I would think like Adam-12 that SWAT would provide good training for future SWAT officers!

Actually in season 1 there were several episodes where they investigated the crime, the two that come to mind are "Coven of Killers and Death Carrier" but I am sure there are others. I think it was in the first episode that the Hondo character stated that S.W.A.T. would help out the regular police when needed. I am sure the show had to be embellished to make it interesting since it would be boring for them to just sit around until they were needed.

Some other things that are different is that in season one the T.J. character was engaged. In the final season he was single which made it easier for him to get the upper hand on the Luca character in a few episodes when it came to dating.

In both the first season and final season they used stock footage so no matter what order they came out of the weapons room and headed out the door once they show them coming up the stairs to get into the van they are in the same order as the opening credits. Also in the episode "Murder by Fire", T.J. is in the hospital but when they get in the van he is there with them since they used stock footage.

Lots of things like that but it is still one of my favorite shows!

Hi Peggy,

Thanks for the posting!

The interesting thing about S2 is that Hondo's character does not talk about his family In S1 Hondo's family was very prevalent and there was an episode where Hondo talked about being foster family. Deacon was was also a family man and does talk about family life in S2, especially the courtroom episode when Deacon gives advice to Street about marriage.

I have watch many episodes and notice the quality is very good. The story lines in S2 are equal and in some cases better than S1.

I would have to say that in the final season (S2) they just wrote out Hondo's family like they never existed. Hondo has a few romantic encounters in the final season. I have always joked that Steve Forrest wanted to be more like the younger actors on the show instead of being tied down. Ha Ha!

Sounds like they sent Betty Harrelson to the same place Chuck Cunningham went to! smile.gif
