It's time for a digital camera - and I *am* happy

Again, thanks to everyone who gave me advice in my "It's time for a digital camera - and I'm not happy" thread.

I got my camera.

I decided on the Canon 10D. I really liked the feel of it. I'll probably be upset about not getting the wider lens of the Rebel, but the sad truth was that I left ugly drool marks all over the 28-200 mm lens they had on display, so I would have had to buy a lens right away even if I had gone with the Rebel. I also liked the various metering options the 10D offered over the Rebel.

I am very, very happy and think I'm going to have a whole bunch of fun. I'm certainly going to be taking more pictures than I used to.

Now go get some pictures of the Loch Ness monster!

Oh come on, Max. There's no way I'm going to get a photo of the Loch Ness monster.

I'm far too busy trying to photograph flying saucers.

Congratulations Julie!

Now that you have a 10D you must never ever go to the dpreview forum devoted to Canon lenses. Otherwise you may have to file for bankruptcy.

So never ever click on this link:

Canon SLR Lens Talk Forum at Digital Photography Review

Don’t do it Julie!

No! Don’t go there Julie!

(Actually I bet you've already been there.)

In that case Julie, you need one of these.

Jay, thanks for the warnings but it's too late. I have already seen my impending financial doom due to Canon lenses. Max isn't helping either

Fortunately no one would ever need one of these lenses with the rare exception of someone working on the Mars rover program:

5200mm F/14

(Check out the relative size of the camera mounted on the 5200mm lens.)

Julie,

You'll love the 10D. I bought my wife the DRebel and a few lenses & accessories for Christmas based on the excellent information provided to me in this thread. She is having all sorts of fun with it.

Actually THIS forum is even worse:

http://photography-on-the.net/forum/index.php

Its a fantastic Canon resource and all the 'L glass' talk just makes my head swim.

I'm still debating DRebel vs. D70, I wish there was as good a forum on the Nikon side. The 'Nikonians' forum is pretty good but not even in the same league as that Canon one...

I hate the format of Dpreviews forums too.

Good luck with the D10 Julie!

Sam
