One of those two websites (that doesn't reply at all) is a local online newspaper that has one of those "Email this article" features and a Forum that uses VBulletin V.2.3.2. The intersting thing is that Verizon users don't get the articles and in their forum, I don't get e-mail notifications to my Verizon account either!
The interesting thing is that I just received an e-mail notification from this site that uses v. 2.3.2. So as our helpful administators have said before, it's not the version of vBulletin that is in question.

Keith:

The problem is with setting up the sendmail function that vBulletin uses. Other forums that use vBulletin that have an issue with sendmail have had to go to a separate mail server to fix the problem. We have taken the step to get a separate mail server for ourselves and are in the process of getting it set up. Hopefully in the next week or so you will start getting email notifications from us too.

Let me know if you get a message this time from this thread.

Now the interesting thing is that when I changed my e-mail address in my profile to my Verizon alias, it says that it would send me an e-mail to verify its (the e-mail address) existence. It never arrived... I changed it back, got the same message, that one never arrived either...

So one thing works and another thing doesn't.

New update: Now after I changed my e-mail address, I am unable to post, edit, send PMs, etc.! It also says my new e-mail address is banned and I cannot change it back! I suspect that because I never received their verification email, it "blacklisted" my e-mail address, although it still appears in my Profile.

But back to the HTF problem, I received two e-mails from Parker (w/hometheaterforum.com domain). I have not been able to do that before!
Some of my emails of subscribed threads are showing as "HTF Subscribed Message by _______" with the name and email of the person who replied in the thread. These messages are getting thrown into my Hotmail Junk Mail folder because the email is not on my contacts list. This means every HTF member would have to be on my contacts list instead of just Parker's! It seems like this is just a test or something, but I don't think it's a good reason for the one just mentioned as well as the fact some people probably don't want their email addresses so readily accessible.

If only the form was available that would be ideal since you don't see the recipient's e-mail address and if the recipient chooses to reply back, they can use their e-mail program or use the HTF e-mail form (or PM).

But if the poster's e-mail address is showing up within the e-mail notification message anyway, that might be a problem as Cameron suggested.
Ditto what Cameron said; I no longer get anything in my Hotmail Inbox. This started as of Friday or Saturday. All emails are going into my Hotmail Junk Folder because the sender's address is the individual and not somebody recognized on my Safe List (in the case before Friday, this was admin@hometheaterforum.com).

I'm also getting the problem of having the HTF notifications being sent to my spam folder because of the change in the FROM: field. I'm guessing the admins did something, but I don't know how good an idea it was.

I was trying to see if this would help with getting emails out to Verizon accounts. I will change this back as it didn't make a difference.

Thanks Parker, the emails are back to normal!
Parker, have you made any more changes this week?

I was getting emails fine until Monday, Dec 27, I believe. I stopped getting them starting Tuesday, Dec 28.
Nevermind Parker. I'm getting them now. Thanks.
This is kind of a minor problem, but just so you're aware (if you're not already):

Some emails from my subscribed threads seem to be delayed and sent out in batches. For example, the time was all the same on several when I knew for certain at least a few of the posts were made earlier than that. This also results in some posts being out of chronological order.

Thanks.

Hey, it's me again. I haven't been getting emails since about 11:30PM last night.
Nevermind. Saw the announcement about upgrades.

Then you're OK. Because no e-mails have been sent since then.

We were having a major MySQL update.

When do you expect the e-mails to resume?
Boy am I an idiot, I e-mailed Parker directly and bothered that poor man with this, it never occured to me to check this area, sorry, Parker. :b

When do you suppose the e-mails resume? I'm lost without them as that was my primary way of keeping track of my subscribed threads.

Awesome! The e-mails are coming in again!

Glad to hear they are working. Any email notification that you should have gotten should now be working as the mail program is back online. Sorry for the delay and mix up.

John:

Never fear emailing me about anything that you are having problems with even if there is an ongoing thread about it.

A more pervasive incarnation of this issue than the one which occasioned this thread: I've recently confirmed with a representative of the AOL "Postmaster Department" [(888) 212-5537; postmaster@aol.com] that the HTF IP address was blocked "a couple of months ago" due to AOL member complaints about spam received purportedly from HTF. Parker you're of course aware of this issue from my recent e-mail correspondence with you.

If you're on AOL and not receiving HTF e-mails, this (draconian, inappropriate) action on AOL's part is very likely the reason why.

Parker, per my e-mail, please keep me/us posted.

Thanks,
Paul

This does not solve the big problem but my problem has been solved. Because a local ISP has taken over Verizon Online Hawaii, I now receive e-mail notifications.

After the "fun" we've been having over in the Test thread, now it will be closed since it works for me. Current Verizon users can create their own test thread.

I hope it works out for everyone eventually. Although my solution was not because of what anyone did, it is nice to receive notifications again.

Keith,

That's great!

Paul,

On one of my e-mail addresses, I started to receive hundreds of "No such address", "e-mail blocked" and messages like that per day, by various Mail Demons and Postmasters all over the world. Apparently one of those spammers used an address looking like mine (and/or exactly like mine) to send his/her spam. Of course I checked to see if a virus on one of my PC's was responsible for that, but none of those original messages where sent from my provider!

It's astonishingly easy to use any 'return address' in e-mails and it frightens me to think how this party (or these parties) will go on until most servers have blocked my address.

I wouldn't be surprised if that's what happened in the case you're referring to as well, and if it is, there's nothing Parker can do about it to change things.

This is one of the inherent weaknesses of the Internet (and e-mail).

Re: Read this if you are not getting your emails from subscribed threads.

I'm not receiving e-mails for subscribed threads, ever since the forum software was upgraded. I did make sure that my account is set to "send individual emails" mode.

Am I the only one having this problem?

Thanks!

Re: Read this if you are not getting your emails from subscribed threads.

Update: I went to the thread management section, and e-mailnotification for all threads (except this one) was set to "none". I changed that, so presumably now everything should be OK.

I guess the problem is that, that when I changed my account settings to turn on notification, it ignored the threads I was already subscribed to.
