Many of the online email sites like Hotmail, AOL, Verizon, etc. have added SPAM filters to them and they will filter out emails sent to you from this site if you do not have us added to your list of approved sites.

If you have the ability to add an email address to your "Safe" folder (or whatever it may be called) add
admin@hometheaterforum.com.

If your email company is filtering email from us and you don't have the ability to add an email address to your allowed list give them a call and have them add admin@hometheaterforum.com or if they will just add the domain of hometheaterforum.com.

I put "hometheaterforum.com" in my safe list (if that appears in my To: line) but I am still not getting any email notifications when I'm supposed to. I'm using Verizon DSL. Oh well.

Keith/Parker,

Yes, Verizon is still filtering out HTF threads. I tried once to get them to add it, but they called my home while I was at work and work when I was home. A cluster.

They claim they can do it but I didn't have the patience to go through 5 people over a period of a week to get it done. We are out of luck until someone does something.

Shame.

I just did a chat with a Verizon Support Rep today and she said that she would take the "hometheaterforum.com" domain (and a few other domains I'm also having problems with) to the engineers to see what they can do. I told her that e-mail from these domains are NOT spam. She said to check back about Wednesday to see if it works. The engineers might also call me if they have questions. We'll see.
I've been in communication with Verizon DSL this past week and they've been trying to fix the problem with this domain and a few others that affect me. They said to give them the e-mail address that the automated replies come from and I told them "admin@hometheaterforum.com" (from this thread). They said they need the FULL address, not just the domain. They need it to contact someone at HTF to ask some questions.

Please let me know if this e-mail address is incorrect.

Update (9/14/04): Verizon support told me that their technicians could NOT replicate the problem and that the admin@hometheaterforum.com address was fine. I told them of course it's fine because everyone else can get their messages. The techs have to create an account here, set email notification to on, then post, and have someone reply to their message to see if they get no response. The support rep said they would refer this message back to the techs. At least I don't have to be on the phone. I'm using Verizon Support Center and I can read their messages to me any time of the day and respond back. It takes longer but as long as I'm not tied to the computer for 60-90 minutes just to do troubleshooting...
Verizon support (not the techs) called me up this morning and said that they would need a copy of the bounced message that the sender of the e-mail notification gets when it doesn't get to me. They can then trace the message and see where the problem occurs.

The support rep said this is the last thing they can do before they close this issue.

Since HTF has so many members, do messages that don't get to Verizon members (or any member for that matter) get bounced back somewhere to HTF (admin@hometheaterforum.com) at all?

If so, could an administrator please send a copy of that message to me with the complete header included and I will forward to Verizon. Thanks.

Keep going Keith, looks like you have their ear.

I still get no thread messages through my Verizon account. Something is wrong on their end.

Two other websites besides HTF that have the same problem with Verizon accounts haven't come through either

One site says they don't get bounced e-mails so I guess e-mail intended for Verizon customers gets left in cyberlimbo.

The other site just didn't respond (and it's been a long time - a little after my first post in this thread) so they don't give a ... ahem, care about the problem I guess. I'm sure they're receiving my msg because others on this site have responded to me in the past. This site is one where you can send articles to others. When articles get sent to Verizon accounts, it never gets there.

This leaves only HTF as the third site that I can't get auto-response e-mails from. If HTF doesn't get bounced e-mail notification messages from Verizon customers, then this will remain an unsolved mystery.

TEST
Thanks to everyone who helped me out here and in the Testing Forum. It seems as if this mystery will remain a mystery. The problem is probably on Verizon's end and they've gone through so many troubleshooting steps with me but all of them hit a dead end.

There are three sites (including HTF) where I cannot receive autoresponses. (Fellow Verizon user KenRen told me that only HTF is affected for him.) One of those sites told me that they do not receive any bounced/returned e-mail. HTF and the third site have not replied to me about receiving any bounced e-mail so I cannot proceed further. But if the first site doesn't get any returned e-mail, I don't see how HTF and the third site would either. However, no one has confirmed or denied it so I'm just guessing.

I believe our intended messages are just in cyberlimbo or gone altogether. Oh well.

Keith,

We do NOT get bounced messages.
Not that this will help you... Too bad, I'm really sorry for you.

Actually, this does help me in a way (but not the way I'd like). Verizon asked about bounced messages and two of three places that affect me said they don't receive bounced messages. (The third place doesn't even care about its customers enough to even honor the request of a reply.) So that's good enough for me. I will let Verizon know this and tell them the problem is on their end.

One other question: For the automatic e-mails that HTF members get, what is the exact e-mail address it comes from? That way I can give it to Verizon so they can check.

Hmmm. I'm not getting my subscribed threads, but my email is at Comcast! Any suggestions?

Keith, here's an example of such an email. HTH. Mike

Hello Mike Voigt,

This is the message:

That's great that you found a place to work on your treasure. I used to own a 1229; bought new back in the 60's, I think. When CDs came out I let it sit, finally gave it away. :b I have a couple of spare headshells for it if you are interested.

A couple of years ago I bought a Mitsubishi LT-22 on eBay. It's a blast. This weekend I put a new Shure M97XE cartridge on to replace my old M91ED. What an improvement! This is a great cartridge for the money.

Scott: Check with other users of this forum who use Comcast and see if they're experiencing the same problems. If not, check your filtering settings. If that still does not solve your problem, check with Comcast.

Mike: Thanks for the sample message. It does come from "hometheaterforum.com" so I was correct in telling Verizon that domain. They said they'd forward my findings (i.e., there are no bounced e-mails sent back to HTF) to the department looking into this.
Keith,

Thanks for the advice. I went in to my Comcast settings (online) and flicked off my spam filter. Dunno if that will work or not...
Yes I've stopped getting e mails as well and I have Comcast. I use hotmail also.
Add me to the list of those who recently stopped getting email allerts to subscribed threads. The last email alert I received from HTF was on 10/20/04 11:26am.

I'll check with my mail server, but can someone explain why all of a sudden so many HTF members stopped getting alerts? If it is an issue where our servers now consider HTF as spam, what happened to instigate that with so many different servers?

BTW: I am not using any of the listed online email sites or those mentioned by other users. My domain host/mail server is Blue Domino.
Me too....I believe 10/20/04 was my last email received as well.

EDIT - sorry, just read the posting about the loss of the hard drive.

Still not receiving any email notifications.

I miss them!
Add me to the list of users who is not getting notifications. I use gmail.
Me too, using my work e-mail.
me too, nothing for the past week.
A few notifications trickled into my inbox, but twas only two or three of 'em.
So I'm wondering if this latest glitch has to do with the forum glitch. If you end up getting your email notifications back soon, then lucky you!

Hotmail, AOL, and Verizon are still the ones who can't get notifications for months now! What other domains are like this?
