If YOUR child is vaccinated and the other child is not, how does that affect YOUR child? The worst that can happen is that child will contract a disease and pass it on to other kids who have not been vaccinated for that disease. Either way, I fail to see the threat to your child.
Nothing is 100% effective, even vaccines. IMO, vaccines are a basic responsibility to your child and your community. If you ignore that responsibility, then you have no right to bring your child into contact with other children.

I saw this article today and remembered this thread:

A new study found that uncircumcised men were nearly seven times more likely to get the AIDS virus...

The study by Robert C. Bollinger and colleagues from Johns Hopkins University Medical School and the National AIDS Research Institute in Pune, India, was published Friday as a "research letter" in The Lancet medical journal.

"It is now about the ninth study which followed men who are HIV negative over a period of months or years. It is the ninth study in a row which has found that the effect (of circumcision) is significant," said Robert C. Bailey, professor of epidemiology and biostatistics at the University of Illinois at Chicago, who was not connected with Bollinger's study.

It's just a little down from the top although the rest of the page is good for yucks and giggles.

Anti-Vaccination Fever: The Shot Hurt Around the World

The article outlines what happened when a similar anti-vaccination hysteria broke out in the 1970s in Sweden and later in "modern" countries. Guess what happened?

Vaccinate your kids folks...

One of the sickest patients I took care of during my medical training was an infant who had not been vaccinated against pertussis. I heard that child's coughing in my sleep for weeks.

Although the child ultimately did quite well, he was critically ill for an extended period.

Study: Rich and poor skip immunizations

Quote:
Struggling, inner-city parents are more likely to neglect to completely vaccinate their children, while parents who refuse to vaccinate at all tend to be white and well-off, U.S. researchers reported Tuesday.

Influence of affluence
They studied a sample of 150,000 children.

"Undervaccinated children tended to be black, to have a younger mother who was not married and did not have a college degree, to live in a household near the poverty level, and to live in a central city," the researchers said.

"Unvaccinated children tended to be white, to have a mother who was married and had a college degree, to live in a ... city."

Several studies have shown two barriers to full vaccination -- a lack of adequate medical care and affluent, educated people who question the need to vaccinate their children.

"Among parents of unvaccinated children, 47.5 percent expressed concerns regarding safety, compared with 5.1 percent of parents with undervaccinated children," the researchers wrote.

And those who refuse vaccines often do not trust doctors.

Woohoo, willful igorance is IN this season!
