Soylent Green

Thread Starter
Hello,

Soylent Green is showing up on HDNet movies. Generally, the picture looked good. However there was one sequence with the people "scoopers" that looked bad as if the sequence was edited in from a worn print. The outside scenes looked appropriately grungy and grim but the "scooper" sequence looked like old, faded, worn, film.

Any ideas?

It looked like that on the broadcast prints I have seen. I believe that it is to show the environmental damage and air pollution of the time...

You will also see the effect on each outside daylight shot...

Reminds me of a Futurama episode where Fry, Leela and Bendre are trying to discover what's actually in the Slurm soft drink.

Fry: "Oh my God! What if it's made of people?"

Leela: "There's already a drink like that. Soylent Cola."

Fry: "How is it?"

Leela: "It varies from person to person."

Yes, the scene in question was deliberately tinted that way, to give the impression of intense and intolerable heat.
