You're not the only one! I named my son Adrian Gabriel.
Be wary of people turning your child's chosen name into a nickname. My son was originally supposed to be "Gabriel Adrian" (if he was a boy) and everybody knew it before he was born. My dad was certain that it would be a boy, and continually called him "Gabe," before and after birth. I didn't like that name at ALL, but dad gave me a clue as to what people would insist on calling him for the rest of his life, so when it came time to sign the birth certificate, I switched the names around. You'd have to work hard to find a nickname for Adrian, and so he's never had one. Thanks dad!
I was watching a spooky TV show as a teenager, I don't even remember the name of it (something like Outer Limits and Twilight Zone, but not either of those) and in the end credits saw a guy named Adrian. I immediately fell in love with the name and kept it in the back of my mind for years until I could use it. I don't remember where I got Gabriel, but it turned out to be fortunate, because, shortly before he was born, I saw a group on TV that mesmerized me. The lead singer was so wonderful and charismatic and I became an immediate fan of him, and his group's music. I didn't know his name. A few months after my son was born, I finally got an album by that group I'd fallen in love with. Imagine my surprise when I looked at the liner notes of the album ("Foxtrot" by Genesis) and found out the lead singer's name was Peter Gabriel! It was one of those double-take, oh-my-GOD! moments.
Have fun choosing. Write it out several times (they'll have to), say it outloud often, play around with nicknames they might have to endure in the playground and frat house, get a Scrabble board and look at anagrams. Be aware that they might change their name anyway once they're 18 (mine hasn't though, he likes it, whew!) and imagine what'll happen if they get famous someday (poor poor Moon Unit).
Movie names
Last year, I did a terrible thing. I started a tournament in the Polls section and then abandoned it, something I said I'd never do. I couldn't keep up with it at the time. It was to pick a favorite movie character, one Lead, one Supporting. I still have the original lists and I just combined them to post here. I've not personalized this list for this thread, that is, culled through to remove the more insane choices (I don't expect you'd name a kid Darth Vader) except I did notice and remove the "Worm Guys" from Men In Black. They're also not separated by men and women (and inanimate objects). Movies from the recent past are more numerous than the classics you asked for, sorry. There are also bad movies mixed in with good movies, and bad guys (and gals) mixed in with good folks. In other words, don't get offended by the bizarre and inappropriate, because it would take me hours to cull rather than just plop them in here.
