Here are some things I have been pondering...
-I wonder if the Lightsaber featurette will have Vaders lightsaber alternating from red to pink every few seconds.
- Lets say in the Original Theatrical Presentations of these films that Vader did in fact have a pink saber. I do not believe that with the homophobia that gripped the world in the eighties that people would have taken Vader so seriously if he was wandering around with a pink lightsaber. He wouldn't have become an icon of evil, despite his constant choking of the cast members. I'm sure there would have been innuendo about him. But as I was not old enough at that period I do not remember.
-And if the VHS and Laserdisc were mastered with an increased brightness level, they must have done it for a reason. I doubt it was a mistake on their part. To me the film is better for that brightness.
-Finally if these are in fact the absolute final retail versions, of which I am starting to lean towards that conclusion but with a slight doubt, I will be severely disappointed and I believe so will a majority of SW fans.
I was anticipating watching ESB and ROTJ at least once a month when they arrived on dvd but now I think with great sadness It will sit on my shelf and only get touched maybe once a year. I've learned to look past the bad SE additions but ruining the centre piece of the each film (The duels) is too much to bear.
I don't think that in this day and age you should be able to say that a VHS version of a film is better than the dvd in any respect.
