Star Wars the TV show?.... - Page 2

Ideas on the new Star Wars TV show??

Well it looks like Lucas's next big venture will be television. What do you want from a Star Wars TV show? I personally would not mind a short story format. With every episode involving different characters. I much rather have this then a long epic involving the crew of the millennium falcon. A outer limits/amazing stories/Twilight zone seems more appropriate. Also Im sure I'll offend someone here, but I hope this is on a real network like NBC,ABC, and not UPN or the WB. Which seems to be the source station for most sci-fi/horror dramas. My guess would be FOX or ABC, this better not be some character driven sap like Smallville. I'll be very disappointed if the show follows Luke Skywalker as a teenager discovering his force powers at a younger age. what do you guys think??

Mike-
Where did you hear about this?

well there was that interview in Entertainment Weekly, comments from his producer at the DVD press event, and various internet stories and rumors. I think i saw one today on Moviepoopshoot.com (I know what it sounds like, but its actually a great site.)

I dont think Lucas would like to do this, just because he wouldnt be able to add in extra scenes right before it airs.

ha ha, actually there is a rumor that he wants Kevin Smith to take over as head creator for the series. OF course these are complete rumors, not sure if they are true.

Well, given that Lucas is all about the story and the characters, I won't be suprised if it's character driven, although I can't see how that would be a bad idea either. Besides, I happen to like Smallville.

I'd like to see a series based on the X-Wing series of books. It has minimal main character interaction so it could be done quite easily.

I wonder how Lucas will be able to keep the effects good enough fro his expectaions with such a limited budget. I also thought of a show formed around the bounty hunters of Star Wars. Even a show based of the Boba Fett character could be good.
How limited would the budget be? Fox would probably be willing to pay $5M/episode, and Lucas knows there will be third-run money from Sci-Fi or FX coming in as well as DVD money and foreign sales. He also gets ILM to do effects for cost, and Young Indiana Jones was a primer in making impressive-looking TV on a budget.

Im sure whatever he does, it will bring new technology to the tube. I just hope he doesn't do a All green screen type show, where everything is computer animated.

IMO, the best thing that we've heard about the show so far is that Lucas will provide only a general guide for the series. He will then take a "hands-off" approach from that point forward.

This formula worked quite well, I thought, for the Cartoon Network's recent animated Clone Wars shorts. You could tell that the producers of that series were true fans of Star Wars and did a great job with limited resources.

I'd like to see show exploring the history of the Jedi and Sith.
yes, well, if Lucas doesnt want to do the Post quills (episodes 7-9) then Id like to see those on cartoon. you know, about Han and Leia's kids being more powerful than Luke, Luke turning to the dark side, the Emporor cloning his body and using the force to change bodies. I have the comic books and those are great.

I'm not getting my hopes up. I have nightmares about a sitcom featuring Jar Jar Binks sharing an apartment with two Ewoks.

Lets think of some show titles:

Star Wars Adventures : too generic
Tatooine (aka smallville)
X-Wing Squadren
The Falcon
Jar Jar and the Bear
Dukes of Vader
The secret Life of Leia organa (ohh we'll get too read her diary 0)
8 simple rules for dating my teenage jedi
Troops (actually this is a pretty good idea for an episode, they could get the original creator to direct and write it.
Boba the Gungan salyer
the Life and Times of Lt.Porkins
ok thats all i got for now
Here's Lukey
Gungan's Island (Jar Jar and Han Solo stranded on an asteroid)
Battlestar Galactica

Maybe it could be a reality show with Wookiees and Ewoks...they could call it "Fur Factor."

maybe it could be an after school special about drugs. it would follow the lead of the 80's commercials with C3PO and R2D2 talking about how smoking is bad. (I was peeved that these werent on the dvd set) remember those commercials?

couple more names:
Jar Jar's Playhouse
I Love Chewie

Skywalker Texas Ranger
The Courtship of Jedi's Father
CSI: Coruscant
NYPD Naboo

I Dream Of Leia (that's a title, not a statement).
I take it this thread is tongue-in-cheek, so even in light of that. I'd say in all seriousness. A series that is post Episode-6 rather than the prequels that are just wrapping up.

Either that or a series based on some Star Wars EU material.

The New Jedi Order.

Hell, no. When something other than financial constraints can make me stop spending money on Star Wars merchandise, then something has gone seriously wrong.
In all seriousness, I wish they'd bring in Timothy Zahn to serialize his three post-the-trilogy books, which would make for a great multi-year arc.

However, I could also see "Ewoks: the cartoon series" as well (hell, I watched that on CBS as a kid)

Would Wars fans have the same violent allergic reaction to Jedi Academy as Trek fans had to a Starfleet Academy project?

Would Michael Winslow (the guy who does all the voices) be in it? Could be a riot.
