Star Wars the TV show?.... - Page 5

ok ok, I just thought you were quoting my post.

That's great by my way of thinking. It would indicate that there was a plan for the show that way. Maybe not the same way B5 was planned but that way they have a good idea of what they want to do.

Of course, Lucas could come to my house and tell me that he was making it up as he went along and I would still watch

Here I found it. But it some what contradicts what he said in my quote above.

C3: Star Wars TV Show Info Recap

Yah, it was at Celebration 3...that's where I heard it.

Personally i think a star wars tv show would be horrible!

The belief over at Lucasfilm is that the Star Wars TV series will spawn off a whole new batch of films. Not just new trilogies but it could be just a stand alone film from a certain storyline. What timeline? They know that the main storyline for the TV series will take place between Sith and New Hope but there is talk that there will be flashback episodes/scenes that will take us back 800 to 1000 years before the Skywalkers.

Lucas Hints at TV Series Character

Posted By Joshua on June 13, 2005
USA Today includes a Lucas hint that Daniel Logan's Boba Fett may be in the TV series:

Ford was approached by Daniel Logan, 18, who played young Boba Fett in Episode II: Attack of the Clones. Lucas said Logan's character may be included in his live-action Star Wars TV series, which is in the works.

Assuming that's true, it's cool that they are using the 'correct' movie actors for the TV show and not just recasting the roles.
Well I hope they do this series right. The possibilties are endless and they will definitely have a huge fan base before they even get started. So I hope they put a budget on this series worthy of the fan base and money they will make from it. I would rip out my eyes if it looked all cheesy like Saved by The Bell or something. Star Wars is George Lucas's baby and I cant imagine he would turn it over after the first year to just anyone to destroy what he has spent years creating.
Having said that, I would still much rather see more Star Wars movies from diferent directors, most likely done from the EU.

I wait nervously now to see what Lucas has in store for us.

Seeing that ROTS is a big hit (even with most of the critics), my hopes for the TV series are somewhat higher. I think the PT movies have gotten better with each installment, and Lucas really is at the top of his Star Wars game right now. I think the more involved he is right now, the better.

So I'd like to see him set the stage and direct a couple of the episodes, then hand it over to other capable directors. Let the next generation of GL's try their craft on the series they love so much, with GL still playing a supervisory role as he makes the other films we want him to make.
I think this could be really good if Lucas doesn't create any continuity issues. I can't wait to see this scheduled during the TV upfronts in 2006.
Oh no, now I'm getting scared.

More STAR WARS TV show grumblings, this time from McCallum! Little Luke?

I would much rather see Vader & Co. hunting down the last remaining Jedi. I'll even take a young Boba Fett hunting Jedi but a young Luke, Han & Leia scares me. If they only feature them for an episode or two a year then I think I can live with it.
If you're going to tackle a young version of an OT character, make it Leia. Her dad could be the main character in the series, so it would make sense to have her around.
Logan in Fett geer. It must be from the movie.
Personally Im disappointed theyre goin with Luke Stories (I thought it would be Chewie).

Id rather see various stories about the entire Star Wars Universe, instead of concentrating on Luke for all 100 episodes(I can already see it now - Smallville on Tatooine).

The Huts, bounty hunters, the origins of the Sith and Jedi, a Luke story, yong Palpatine, etc. No limitations and theres a whole galaxy to play with.
If this is true, ugh. Little Luke growing up on Tatooine is one of the worst ideas I can think of for a SW television series.

I've been worried recently about whether Lucas even watches any TV. Is he at all familiar with what the likes of Babylon 5, Deep Space Nine, Farscape, Battlestar Galactica and even the limited run of Firefly have done with serial Sci-Fi/Space Opera storytelling on television? With the Star Wars name, universe, and the budget all that would entail there could be some great prospects here.

These shows are always better with a strong showrunner with a vision. I don't expect Lucas will want to be very hands-on with the show after it starts and I don't see any of the strong creative forces in television wanting to take this on when they will likely be heavily leashed by Lucas in the directions the story can go.

That pic of Daniel Logan in the Boba Fett suit isn't proof of anything. From what I understand, the pic from a convention Logan attended. One of the geeks had a Fett suit and Logan was talked into trying it on and posing for photos. That's all there is to it.
I don't think this show is going to be about Luke on Tatooine. What are they gonna do for sweeps? THRILL TO LUKE'S FIRST TRIP TO TOSCHE STATION!!!!! GAZE AS LUKE FIXES A TREADWELL DROID!!!!! SEE BIGGS AND TANK LEAVE!!!!

McCallum says "It will depict how Luke grows up." Personally, I think he's speaking in broader terms about the time period that Luke is growing up (not Luke's life on Tatooine).

As for that pic of Daniel Logan, I assume Bill is correct. I don't think that there would be costume fittings for a show that won't be on until at least fall 2006.

I have to agree with that. In Ep. IV, Luke was complaining about how boreing his life on Tatooine was. Why would anyone want to watch that?

Agreed. But I'll believe it when I see it.
Mabye a few episodes here of Luke, a few episodes there of Leia, a few more episodes of the hunting of Jedi, etc, etc...

Each arc could last 3 weeks?
Given my disappointment with the PT this could restore some lustre to the franchise. New writers stepping in to flesh out the backstory could be the best thing that happens.
That's a great idea as perhaps we will see stories being penned by Mark Hamill or Carrie Fisher
post #144 of 179
I really doubt they've even set anything in stone yet.

I have a bad feeling about this.

Am I the only one who thinks this could be a total disaster? Someone made a list of other good sci fi shows, but where are all those shows now? Dead.

Why? Because average TV audiences don't like science fiction, and the shows cost a very big pile of money to produce. Knowing Lucas, this could easily be the most expensive show ever made, and, with the exception of nerds like us, no one will watch it. I don't see it lasting very long, two season at the most, unless Lucas keeps paying for episdoes even when they're in the red.

It wont matter how good the show is. The final season of Enterprise was incredible, but that didn't help. And, c'mon! This is George Lucas were talking about, are you really expecting it to be good?

I hope I'm wrong. I love all the Star Wars movies (even the bad ones) and I love the idea of a Star Wars live action TV show. But I just don't see it being at all sucessfull.

PS. Make the show about a young Yoda and the Sith wars. That could be the title of the series, "Sith Wars" with the same font and everything. And, have everybody back then talk the way Yoda does, that would be sweet!

yes, you are a nerd.

I have no doubt that primarily no one but SW fans will watch it. And I'm sure everyone involved with it knows that. Plus, you gotta figure that there's gonna be fans that say "It sucks!" before they even write a script and never watch it either.

Due to this 'limited' audience, I don't think this will be the most expensive TV series ever made. None of the SW movies were ever anywhere close to being the most expensive movies ever made. If anything Lucas seems to be very conscious of his budget and while it'll be a big budget, I don't think it will ever get out of control.

That being said, I doubt the series will last more than a few seasons too. It could be the best show ever made and it'll never be a big hit. Quite honestly, I just want a show I enjoy and don't care if anyone else likes it. Course then they won't be making too many episodes

Yeah, all those Star Wars movies just tanked at the box office, didn't they?
Re-reading my post does make it sound like Star Wars is some minor franchise but what I meant was that the average person who will watch a SW movie will probably never watch a SW TV show.

How many Trek fans are in the world? And there isn't a Star Trek series anymore.
