Time marches on. The tools for diagnosis are simply becoming more technical. It IS amazing.

"Funny" growths in your sinuses? Have you been having issues which prompted the scan?

Re: Test

I've been having the worst episodes of insomnia in my life since the beginning of the year. One problem is that I'm having problems breathing when laying down, although once I sit up all is fine.

Re: Test

No it's in the sinuses and you can hear it gurgeling when you try to breathe.

EDIT: So what did you think of those smashed Miata photos? Amazing that people walked away from those crashes.

Re: Test

I haven't seen any smashed Miata pix yet. They must be in Scott's thread. I'll go look.

Well, I certainly hope its nothing serious.

Amazing indeed. But I can certainly see why you installed one of those things! Are miatas particularly prone to flipping over? Just because of the speed they reach...or something to do with their design?

Re: Test

Miatas are much less likely to roll over than many other cars, especially SUVs with their high center of gravity. But the outcome is much worse in a Miata since there's no roof. And of course the kind of nitwit who owns a Miata may be the type to push the envelope when it comes to driving a twisty road. Most cars will roll over if they go off the road sideways.

Looks like a hot new batter is headed for the Hawks.

Cubs agree to terms with top Draft pick | cubs.com: News

Quote:
The Cubs agreed to terms Tuesday with first-round Draft pick Brett Jackson. He will join the Class A Boise team once he passes a physical. ...
A left-handed hitter, Jackson opened the season with a career-high 18-game hitting streak, batting .408 with eight doubles, a triple, four home runs and 14 RBIs over the streak. He turned in a career-best effort May 12 against Sacramento

Isn't a batting average of .408 pretty good?

Maybe should go see the first game he plays in. Then if he turns into a big star I can brag about seeing him in his professional debut.

Re: Test

You definitely should go see him play!

.408 is darn good. The last time anyone batted .400+ in a major league season was a guy by the name of Ted Williams (since frozen) who did it back in 1941--just a year before he began a three year stint in the service.

Williams also served again in 1952 & '53. When he returned to the Red Sox for the last half of the '53 season, Ted hit .407.

To think that he lost five years due to military service. His career stats are already impressive. But his stats as a patriot are even better.

Look who's "made it."

Robobama.

That "uncanny valley" stuff is interesting.

So anyway, guess who's the largest private employer in France?

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
It's McDonalds.
Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
Source: In the course of Donald Morrison's review of Au Revoir to All That by Michael Steinberger, we learn that McDonald's is the largest private employer in all of France, which is sort of like being the largest provider of health insurance in North Korea, but nonetheless, it feels like a major triumph for American culture and cuisine. I once ate at the McDonald's right next to the Arc de Triomphe. My quarter pounder tasted like hegemony.

I can't imagine why.

So who exactly is that in your avatar picture?  That's not the Fluffster, is it?

Good heavens no - that's little Dukie.  I had to crop a photo to 1:1 AR for the avatar.  Looks peeved, doesn't he?

I figured if it WAS the Fluff, it would have been from much younger days.

Watched Spider-man 3 last night with my son.  Neither one of us had seen it.

2+ hours we'll never get back.     Awful on so many levels.
