I saw a preview of this film before Monster and it looks great.
I just read that it is getting an NC-17 rating too.
Anyone heard anything about this movie?
Guess it's playing at Sundance next week too.

It's supposed to open here in two weeks. I'll post my comments in the 2004 Alternative Cinema thread.

Has anyone seen this film yet? I'd like to hear your thoughts.

In limited release the per screen victory went to the The Dreamers. Bernardo Bertolucci (news)'s tale of passion and incest between three movie fans during the turbulent Paris student riots of 1968 had earned a rare NC-17 rating because of its erotic content. Audiences were clearly eager to see why. At just five sites the Fox Searchlight release averaged $30,016 for $150,078.

I think EW weekly gave it a C in this weeks issue.
I want to check it out anyway.

Not looking so good on Rotten Tomatoes, maybe I'll wait for DVD later in the year.

Owen Gleiberman has become increasingly erratic. His review made no sense to me. The Dreamers is something of a trifle, but it's the kind of trifle that only a gifted and experienced filmmaker could produce. I found it highly engaging, which is more than I can say of any Bertolucci film since The Last Emperor.

My main question is:

What the hell is wrong with the parents of Theo and Isabelle?

Good grief!

Also, if you're going to start out with Matthew providing some narration at the start of the film, it would have been nice to provide some bookend comments to provide any sense of closure on this turbulent period.

Michael Pitt could play Leo Dicaprio's younger brother, with more of a wide-eyed "deer-in-the-headlights" air about him.

Here's an interesting fact:

Eva Green has a non-identical twin sister in business school (according to IMDB). It makes you wonder if they help/hindered her for the role of Isabelle.
