Weekly Roundup 12/30 (and 1/2) - Page 2

FYI, if you have a Disney Store near you, I was by there a few days ago and saw Finding Nemo and Pirates of the Carribean for $14.99. Not sure if this price is still current, so may wanna call first.

FWIW, I had an opportunity to go into my local Toys 'R Us last night and found a buy 2 get 1 free sale underway. Don't have too much reason to patronize TRU these days. A cursory glance of prices looked kinda high, though.

Wal-Mart did NOT get the Unrated version of American Wedding, if that's the version you were looking for.

However, Target has it, in Widescreen. Targets "low price" for all four versions of AW is $15.99...best price, better than Wal-Mart's $16.14!

Thanks, Dave! To Target I go on Saturday!

At my local Best Buy:

American Wedding was $15.99. In the Los Angeles Times circulars it says "Best Price" but the DVD right beside it (which is usually an indicator of the "best price") says $15.99. And sure enough, the American Wedding DVD stand in the store said $15.99 (and I bought one and was rung up at that price).

Don't know if this is nationwide or just an L.A. thing.

FWIW I bought the unrated OAR version, of which there were plenty of copies at BB.

Carlo, it's regional. My Best Buy sells it for $17.99.

Doesn't Best Buy do price matches with their own website? bestbuy.com has it for $15.99.

Joe,

No, but you could order it from the website and pick it up. But they don't pricematch their website... does it make sense? Nope.

At the Best Buy in NYC, they have a policy where if you bring in a print out the lower price on the Best Buy webpage, they will honor that price. I don't know if that is a national policy, but it is worth a shot.

Probably not of much consequence to anyone...but to round out my K-Mart/Clear & Present Danger story from earlier....

K-Mart this week is running an ad which shows certain DVDs (including the old non-anamorphic C&PD) for $4.99. The two K-Marts I went to in search of this title didn't have any. At the first K-Mart I went to, I picked up the SE off their regular shelf and inquired if this was the one they listed on sale in their flyer. After major hubbub and confusion, a manager ruled "no".

At the second K-Mart I went to today, I picked up the SE & asked the same question of the lonely guy at the electronics counter. He didn't know (d'uh!) and scanned it at his register. "Bing!", it ran up "$4.99 advertised special". Sometimes these things just work out.

Looks like Costco just got in some more 2-packs from Universal/Dreamworks for $16.99.

The intriguing one was the pairing of "Scarface" and "The Fast and the Furious".

I can't recember too many of the pairings though.

Catch Me If You Can/???
Road To Perdition/??? (Legend of Bagger Vance, I think)
Gladiator/???
Old School/Road Trip (both unrated editions)

If I can get to Costco tomorrow, I'll try to update the pairings.

Patrick-Is the version of Fast and the Furious the "Tricked Out" edition that was released this past June?
I think so (it's got the shiny cover, right?) I'll try to check on that as well.

I went to my K-Mart to try to find "Eye of the Beholder", I think it was. I was told they got in *1* of the titles in that ad (and mine wasn't it).

Just got American Wedding for 15.99 at Best Buy, and that's the way it was listed on signage in the store. FYI, ymmv.

Dave is offline right now (computer problems) so he won't be posting the roundup this week.

Looks like you guys are on your own.

I just want to thank David for pointing out the
Ciruit City on-line deal for Sex in The City: Season Five DVD offer for $19.99.

I ordered it immediately, and did get that for $19.99,
which seems to be the best deal by several dollars.

(It was also my first purchase through Circuit City since prior to their DIVX days...I had boycotted them until now.)

Thanks again, Dave!

You are welcome! I understand the "boycott", and I don't think you technically violated it by purchasing a "loss leader" like this.
