What should my 100th dvd be?

Thread Starter
I will be purchasing my 100th dvd most likely in the next month. I am at 92 right now. Any suggestions for what my 100th one should be? I want this one to be a really great dvd. Here's a link to my list. My "On Order" section of my list represents dvd's that I plan to buy next. Your suggestions don't have to be from this list. Thanks for the input.

I'd recommend

Citizen Kane
12 Monkeys
Equilibrium
Minority Report
Mystery Science Theater 3000 - The Movie
The Matrix
The Matrix Revisited
and for your 100th:
Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers - Special Extended Edition

Of course if you don't like Matrix I'd throw in any Pixar Movies, fantastic DVD sets.

I'd recommend:
Body Heat
Chinatown
Singin' In The Rain

Lord Of The Rings - The Two Towers: Extended Edition would be a great 100th purchase.

Go for TTT extended. I just went through this with my 200th. Ironically, my first DVD ever was The Matrix. It just so happened that my 200th was The Matrix Reloaded. I didn't even have to put off or make any additional purchases to get there. It just happened that way.

Without a doubt, no question; it should be:

SHOWGIRLS

Since this is Halloween, it should be Suspiria!!!

with me, milestone DVDs, such as my 100th, 200th, 250th, and so on have to be special to me. My 100th DVD was the Fantasia Anthology. Technically, it was 2 movies in it, so it was like 100 and 101. My 250th and 251 and 252 were Indiana Jones.
I say go for some box set you have been wanting. It seems more special, at least to me.

I recommend SCHIZOPOLIS or SOAP: SEASON 1.

Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers extended, without question.

(that or Naked Lunch)

I'd have to reccomend

Casablanca
Singin' In the Rain

or, my personal pick

Jackie Brown

This is one of my favorite films of all time and the 2-disc set is fantastic. Great movie, great picture and sound, great extras, you can't go wrong.

I wouldn't recommend Naked Lunch as a blind-buy, as it isn't to everyones' tastes and many people are disappointed by the film. If ever Criterion released a DVD strictly for a fans, this is it. I love it, it's a fantastic book and film and I'm a big Peter Weller fan.

Brazil: Criterion Collection
Without a doubt one of the best DVD's ever. (and I like the movie way more than Lord of the Rings.)

LOTR:TTT as I expect this will be a truly great dvd.

In all due respect, Estevan, Brazil and Lord Of The Rings are quite dissimilar films. I love both - I love all of Gilliam's work.

The Treasure of the Sierra Madre, by God!

If you don't like that film, you're dead.

I noticed that Criterion's 100th dvd is the Beastie Boys Anthology. That might be cool to get that. Or maybe the E.T. big box?
Yeah, I was thinking of the big E.T. box set too. Might as well go something big for the milestone, right?

I always make sure I have a movie I like as a milestone movie. Here are the milestones from my list.

100. Blade: Platinum Series
200. Apocalypse Now
300. T2: Ultimate Edition
400. Rocky: Special Edition
500. Rushmore: Criterion Collection
600. Singing In The Rain: Special Edition
700. Brazil: Criterion Collection

I got 750 coming up... the only advice I can give you is to make sure it's a movie you've seen and love... make sure it's not a blind buy... unless it's a blind buy from a trusted friend who shares similar tastes.

With the utmost respect, that one is a DEFINATE no-no for a blind-buy!
