Canadian TV Shows on DVD - Page 11

Re: Canadian TV Shows on DVD

Will we ever see "Hatching, Matching & Dispatching" on DVD??

It only had a 1 hr pilot and 6 thirty minute episodes. But it is some of Mary Walsh's finest writing.

Considering this show received government funding to make, she probably shouldn't have called the conservative MPs "arse lickers of satan" on national tv. Maybe it would still be on television.

Re: Canadian TV Shows on DVD

Chapters is showing Robson Arms season 3 for release August 26, jPod on September 9, and Corner Gas season 5 on October 7.

Re: Canadian TV Shows on DVD

I'll be buying Robson Arms S3 (its final season unfortunately) and the jPod set (still mad at CBC for not giving it a chance). Now that it has been renewed for a second season, I'd like to see the unedited form of Durham County S1 released on DVD.

Re: Canadian TV Shows on DVD

Any word on a U.S. release date for S3 of Robson Arms? I'd like to avoid paying the steep shipping charges from Amazon.ca. And is S3 definitely its last?

Yes, S3 is definitely Robson Arm's last season. CTV officially cancelled it before the season finished airing. Robson Arms never had the ratings of a Corner Gas and it was placed in a poor timeslot, so its number was up. Too bad, since it was a fine series.

Re: Canadian TV Shows on DVD

That really stinks. Well, at least it lasted three years, and not the one shows I love usually get, and all three seasons are out on DVD.

Thanks for the info.

Re: Canadian TV Shows on DVD

I think it is but I'll double check...is ReGenesis a Canadian series? Season 1 was released in the UK a few years ago but no further seasons have been released yet. No seasons have been released on Region 1 at all and the show is up to it's 4th season.

It had a timeslot? The biggest issue I had with CTV and both CG and RA is that you could never predict when they would be on. 7 one week, 9:30 the next, not on the next. No wonder the ratings didn't support it.

Any sign of Sinbad season 2 being released on DVD please?

Yes, ReGenesis is a Canadian series (it airs original episodes on Movie Central and rebroadcast on Showcase) and the fourth season will be its last. I'm rather surprised a company like Acorn hasn't picked up the series for R1 DVD release (they've done an excellent job with Da Vinci's Inquest and Intelligence). It's definitely a great Canadian series.

Robson Arms jumped around, but it seemed like CTV was content to stick it on Saturday nights, the death knell for any series. And with the recent change to Canadian content regulations, a lot of scripted shows are being cancelled so networks like CTV and Global can produce cheap infotainment programs instead.

If anyone wants to contact Acorn Media about "ReGenesis", here's their e-mail address:

They are open to suggestions.

TVShowsOnDVD has added cover art for Corner Gas: Season 5. I love it, and this coming from a guy who's not a fan of "bobbleheads".

CTV has renewed "Flashpoint" for a 13-episode second season. I hope we'll see this on DVD and Blu-ray next year.

Re: Canadian TV Shows on DVD

Wonder if VEI will release a corrected Bizarre Volume 7 when they put out the 10-volume boxset. Nobody still seems to know anything, more than a year after the botched original version came out.

I have a pretty good feeling we will see Flashpoint on DVD.

By the way Chris thanks for the Student Bodies tip. I'm crossing my fingers. I would love to own this on DVD. I still badly want Edisons Twins and An American in Canada though.

On a quick side note The Little Vampire is being released in Germany in the Fall, I'm not sure if it will have an english track included but it's nice to know it's being released somewhere.

If they release "Student Bodies", then I have no doubt they would probably look at "The Edison Twins" (maybe even "An American in Canada").

Re: Canadian TV Shows on DVD

I haven't read this whole thread, but did anyone else know that STARLOST was out on DVD? I found it and ARK 2 while hunting down QUARK. I remember the titles, but not the shows.

Re: Canadian TV Shows on DVD

Any news on whether Alienated, The Eleventh Hour, Amazon (1999), Blue Murder (2001), Naturally Sadie, Radio Free Roscoe (other than best of season 1) or Moccasin Flats are likely to get a dvd release

Another show but a long shot I would love to see on DVD is Cariboo Country watched a few for my Native American cinema course starring Chief Dan George

Re: Canadian TV Shows on DVD

"The Border - Season 1" is finally up for preorder on Amazon.ca, for only 24,49$CAD. Yay!

Sadly, there are no plans whatsoever for a release of "Heartland - Season 1", which is most unfortunate.

ARK 2 is awesome. I saw it when it originally aired and it has somehow held up.

STARLOST doesn't look familiar. Seems to have a Space Academy/Jason of Star Command vibe. If that's the case, I'm there!!

Andy, I have the 10-disc box set, which VEI sent me early as a courtesy (though it took a while to reach me thanks to customs ).

I watched Disc/Volume 7 first, just for you. It works perfectly, beginning to end. Funny stuff.

Now, just to wait for word on corrected "stand-alone" copies of the corrected volume 7 getting out there (CD Plus still lists it as "out of stock", as it's been since the recall began).

If I'd had any idea that there would've even been a boxset (and at such a cheap price), I probably wouldn't have even bought the individual volumes. Oh, well!

tvshowsondvd.com is reporting that ReGenesis S1 is being released by Koch on November 11. A lot of us have been waiting for this excellent cable series, so good news indeed!

Talking To Americans is a part of The Rick Mercer Report and would have to be included with any DVD release of the show, as well as any release of This Hour Has 22 Minutes on DVD.

Adventures in Rainbow Country (26 eps total) is another that looks atrocious in reruns, and needs its elements done something with before they have deteriorated beyond hope.

Considering that Stephan Harper just destroyed the arts with a round of cuts, I don't think that we will be seeing The Beachcombers on DVD.

Anyone know if Twice In a Lifetime is being considered for a dvd release, loved this show.

Also really happy The Collector is getting a Season 1 release

A release of The Edison Twins on DVD? Not damm likely. The show is 30 years old, and it's also almost forgotten by mostly everybody. With all the restoration work that would have to be done, that's a lot of money to be spent on a obscure show from very long ago.
