I have heard of Fraggle coming though.

How about "My Secret Identity" (starring Jerry O'Connell).
A Fraggle Rock DVD is being released by Columbia Tristar in the UK in January.

Presumably these will be episodes of the UK version, which featured Fulton Mackay as the Captain.

Let's get You Can't Do That on Television with Alanis Morrisette commentary.

Was "Lorn Green's New Wilderness" Canadian? I liked that show!

How about "The Littles Hobo"?

For those who undertsand French, there was "Lance et Compte"... This was a mini series about a pro NHL Hockey team in Quebec City. I know that the 1st season of this show was also shot in English and called "He Shoots, He Scores".

And "RBO (Rocket Belles Oreilles)" A HILLARIOUS french Canadian comedy show with 5 guys and a girl based in Montreal. It was similar to "4 on the Floor" but MUCH FUNNIER!!! They had no limits!

ugh....doghouse....
i knew a cast member of that show personally when i lived in Thornhill...think his name was Jonathon Shapiro. he was a pompous snob.

With luck, I'll cause that to happen

EVERY Time I've started to get all my ducks together and start the process of transferring my old tapes/etc of one an old series to DVD-R, about the time I get half way thru and WHAM! Here comes the announcements...

(looks at the stacks of 100gb drives (4) with 200+ eps of Red Green ready to be authored and the smaller 80gb drive with "The Tick" and tries to decide which to do next...)

I can't beleive you know Puttnam's (Prarie Emporium, I beleive

Lol. I thought I was the only one who watched that show. I remember it used to be one very early, on YTV I think. I don't know what the draw of that show was, perhaps it was the time traveling closet or talking stuffed moose head... ah who knows, I was 7 at the time.

And I would love to buy the Red Green Show on DVD.

I tired looking it up recently on IMDB and Yahoo, and found absolutely nothing on it. Which sucks.

Larry you weren't kidding this show is Hillarious. Thanks so much for telling me about it. I'm watching the episode "The Eyes of the Law" right now. Here's some funny quotes I wanted to share with everybody.

Girl: "Is it ok to come out of the closet now"

Louis Ciccone: "Sure everybody is doing it now"

Marge: Because of you going around with that tramp I had to go see Psycho alone last night and got so scared I jumped into the lap of a total stranger."

Louis Cicconne: "I'm Sorry"

Marge: "Yeah and it was scary he wanted me to stay there"

Louis Cicconne: "What?"

Marge: "Let's just say he was wearing a thin raicnoat"

(after a woman called for Cicconne)

Marge: Homely Bitch!

Cop: We don't have any concrete evidence."

Louis Cicconne: Again with the concrete evidence, why don't we just get a cement mixer and make you feel better."

I have anoather one. This show is brand new it just started here on CTV a few weeks ago but it has to be one of the funniest shows ever and especially because it's a canadian tv show also made in Saskatchewan. It's called Corner Gas and I would love to get DVDs of this.
a vote for 'This is Wonderland'
Corner Gas is definitely shaping up to be a decent show.

We had family friends that lived in Molly's Reach which was where BeachCombers was filmed( I think?!?!)
I remember we went to visit them but we were hardly ever allowed to stay up past fraggle rock so we didn't know beachcombers all that well. I just remember recognizing a couple of the buildings from the openings and being practical star struck. that was one of my first childhood memories (Crying about having to go to bed after fraggle rock that is)

Made In Canada is a great show, I didn't know a dvd of the first 6 episodes was out, i'll have to check that out.

Yes, Beachcombers was filmed in Gibsons, and Molly's Reach was the restaurant where Nick had his office. I haven't been there in decades. It is pretty neat seeing places you recognize on TV, especially as a kid.

We just received this press release from Shout! Factory...

GROUND-BREAKING COMEDY "SCTV" DEBUTS ON HOME VIDEO FROM SHOUT! FACTORY

SCTV NETWORK/90, VOLUME 1

5-Disc Boxed Set Includes Nine 90-Minute Episodes Featuring the Comic Genius of John Candy, Joe Flaherty, Eugene Levy, Andrea Martin, Catherine O'Hara and Dave Thomas, Plus Bonus Material including Four New Documentaries and the 1999 Aspen Comedy Arts Festival Program, In Stores June 8th

LOS ANGELES, CA - Welcome to Melonville (of the Tri-State area), home of the SCTV television network and programs such as popular game show "What's My Shoe Size?," disco dance program "Mel's Rock Pile" and Canada's intelligent talk show "Great White North." SCTV is once again "On The Air." Eighteen years after production ended on the original episodes, the two-time Emmy(r)-winner* SCTV will be available for the first time on home video, in the form of a 5-disc DVD set from Shout! Factory. Starring comedy's brightest northern lights Eugene Levy (American Wedding), Joe Flaherty (National Security), Andrea Martin (My Big Fat Greek Wedding), Catherine O'Hara (A Mighty Wind), Dave Thomas (Who's Your Daddy?) and the late John Candy (Uncle Buck), the DVD set includes the first cycle of nine, 90-minute episodes that aired on NBC, new interviews with writer Harold Ramis (Analyze That), producers, cast and crew, and more. SCTV Network/90 - Volume 1 will be available on June 8th for $89.98 (suggested retail price).

When Shout! Factory COO Bob Emmer began researching licensing for SCTV, he was surprised to learn the series had never been released on home video, in any format. "We began dealing with the vast music clearance issues and, after more than a year of hard work, we were able to obtain the necessary licenses to enable us to release the first boxed set. This collection will make even the most serious fans very happy," remarks Emmer.

SCTV Network/90 - Volume 1 contains nine, unedited 90-minute episodes including appearances by unforgettable characters Johnny LaRue, Yellowbelly, Edith Prickley, Bob and Doug McKenzie, and Lola Heatherton, and hilarious shows such as "Sid Dithers Private Eye," "Monster Chiller Horror Theatre," "Mr. Science," "High Q," "The Sammy Maudlin Show," and the Bob Hope/Woody Allen parody "Play It Again, Bob." These episodes also feature plenty of promo and commercial spoofs, and performances by musical legends Levon Helm, Dr. John and Southside Johnny. The 5-disc set contains four new documentaries: "SCTV Remembers" with original cast members Levy, Flaherty, O'Hara, Thomas and Martin, and executive producer Andrew Alexander (and co-owner of The Second City theater); "Origins of SCTV" with vintage photos and clips from Chicago's Second City Theatre; "The Craft of SCTV" with costume, hair and make-up designers; "Remembering John" with original cast, actor Martin Short, writers, and Bernard Sahlins, The Second City theater co-founder and producer 1959-1985; "SCTV Reunion" from the 1999 U.S. Comedy Arts Festival hosted by Conan O'Brien. The SCTV Network/90 - Volume 1 DVD set will be packaged with a 24-page booklet containing an introduction by Alexander, and essays and tributes by O'Brien, Ben Stiller, Fred Willard, Dan Ackroyd and Dr. John, accompanied by images of rare photographs and memorabilia.

SCTV (an acronym for Second City Television), began in 1976 as a simple show featuring comedic performers from the famed, improv-oriented Second City Theatre in Toronto. Unbelievable as it seems today, SCTV was the first television show based entirely upon the concept of satirizing the medium of television itself, which enabled the writers and performers - whose on-screen ranks included at various points Harold Ramis, Robin Duke, Tony Rosato and Martin Short - to skewer everything from feature films, promos and commercials to such familiar local television staples as late-night horror movie hosts and the backstage goings-on at the fictional SCTV station itself. Originally created for syndication, SCTV was picked up five years later by NBC and ran for two seasons of 90 minute episodes, then moved to Cinemax for a last season of 45 minute episodes. Stay tuned for additional releases of SCTV on DVD from Shout! Factory.

LOLA HEATHERTON, I'm having trouble breathing! She makes Peg Bundy look tacky

BTW, almost everything being mentioned is comedy.

I would like to see the goldmine of drama and arts explored.

The CTV program COLD SQUAD (season 1) was released on DVD recently, it was both realistic and well done. I think it predates the CBC's DaVINCI INQUEST series, and the spate of Cold Case themes.

CBC's OPENING NIGHT arts series (on Thursdays) is just a cornucopia of delights, I would like to own a crystal clear copy of many of its programs.

Glad to see the LITTLEST HOBO mentioned. That program used to be everywhere.
The Littlest Hobo has to be one of the worst TV shows ever produced. I'm sure it will make it to DVD some day.
I agree with above, and apparently so does rick mercer based on the segment in his show on monday.

Don't forget about The Racoons!

A 3-disc box set compilation of episodes was recently released a few months back along with the option of buying the individual discs, however a double-feature presenting both 1982 original feature-length television specials, "The Christmas Raccoons" & "Raccoons On Ice", was supposed to also come out on that same date... it seems to have been canned!!

I was really dissapointed to learn about this as the original Raccoon specials which influenced the later cartoon series were really terrific and memorable and far superior to the 1985 series itself. I was really looking forward to owning them on DVD but unfortunately MorningStar seems to have dropped the idea for some reason...

Four words: Wind At My Back.

I love that show, and would love to have Season box sets on DVD. I think their Christmas special is available on DVD, but that's it.
