Looking for a Nemo mylar...

Hi guys

I am looking for a Nemo mylar. There are a few on ebay but they are the wrong size. I want what they call a medium but some people call them small.

From what I understand, these are the 3 most common sizes:

Mini - 2 1/2" x 11"
Medium - 5" x 13"
Large - 5" x 25"

If anyone has one or knows wher I can get the right size. I would love to purchase it.

Thanks
Ed

Ed,

www.moviemylars.com only has the small and large listed on their website.
Maybe if you email the owner, he can locate one or has one stashed somewhere.
I purchased a "Training Day" medium mylar from him recently.

I have a mini, but can't find a Medium either.

Would anyone be interested in a mylar-swap thread? I would love to find someone with a Princess Bride mylar of any size (to go along with my favorite poster), and a Fellowship of the Ring of any size.

Start it up !

I think it's a good idea won't hurt maybe we can both get what we are looking for.

Here look at this....

Looks like its time to make a lighted poster box!

FOUND!

I emailed Tom over at www.moviemylars.com he told me he would get me a medium. What a great guy.

He also added this...

Quote:
As for medium mylars, it's a bit of an explanation. The large and mini sizes use the exact same image as the ratio of their sizes are the same. The medium mylar uses essentially the same image but just rearranged a little bit. 99% of my business comes from either large or mini sizes andI've found that it isn't really worth it for me to deal with mediums. That being said, I still have them and access to them.

He is also aware of the new thread that David Broome started and is going to do some posting in there.

Hope this helps everyone out!

Hey guys!

Tom Reasor from the above mentioned site here. Ed was nice enough to let me know what was going on here. I love the lightboxes that some of you have! I'm very jealous. I have a single lightbox for a large mylar right now. Hopefully soon I will be able to find a cheap solution for those of you looking.

As far as mylar - please feel free to e-mail me. As stated earlier in the thread, I don't deal with the medium mylars as much, but I do have a list available upon request. Also, please feel free to let me know you are from here and I can work something out for my new release mylars. How would a 1/3rd off coupon for the site sound? Maybe I can do more.

Let me hear some feedback from everyone and I'll see what I can do for everyone! (Maybe I can even find a Princess Bride)

Tom,

You also may want to join www.avsforum.com
Specifically, the Home Theater Accessories forum on www.avsforum.com

http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/forum...id=32&x=12&y=6

I'm looking for a medium "Out of Time" mylar.
(Of course I saw the small and large on your website)
I'm the young lady that purchased a "Training Day" medium mylar recently off Ebay.
I guess you realize I love "DENZEL"!

Oh yeah, if you can come up with a way to provide a single mylar lightbox for $50, I'm in.

This company is selling a single mylar lightbox for $75.
http://www.home-theater-lightboxes.c...omLightbox.htm

Target had a Todd Oldham lightbox for less than $15 recently but I missed out on that.

The cool thing about the one from Target is that it is portable.

Modified lightbox from Target

I like the idea of being able to put the lightbox anywhere and plug it in at will instead of having it mounted above the door.
The Target lightbox was perfect for 1 medium or 2 small mylars.

Maybe a group buy for all of us can be done so we can get a $50 single medium mylar lightbox from
http://www.home-theater-lightboxes.com
I also saw on www.avsforum.com that
http://www.home-theater-lightboxes.com sells a double mylar for $170.

Thanks!

Glenise,

When you said target did you mean the department store. I can't find it online. Did you buy this recently. You might save me some time .

Thanks in advance
Ed

Apparently, they aren't selling that item anymore, online or in the stores. That's why I had to build my own...
Ed,
Yes the dept. store.
(These are pictures of someone else's lightbox that he purchased from Target)

Target had these on clearance a little over 1 month ago.
I tried calling local stores and they didn't know what I was talking about.
I even emailed Target and never got a response.
I work near a Target that had some but I was 1 week too late!

I just noticed something.

http://www.home-theater-lightboxes.com is selling poster lightboxes for $170 on Ebay.
Seems if you can get a lightbox poster for $170 then a double mylar lightbox should be a lot less.

The buy it now price on this auction is $170.
http://66.135.208.135/ws/eBayISAPI.d...tem=3357540971

I will try and locate the quote from another user that stated a double mylar lightbox costs $170.

Quote from another forum:

"You can purchase a single mylar lightbox that would hold a 5x25 mylar for $100 + $20 shipping or a double (just like the one pictured above) for $175 + $20 shipping. They are made of wood an have a 24" bulb. They can be either hardwired or have a heavy duty cord. They are black in color."

http://www.home-theater-lightboxes.com has $75 for their cost of a single mylar lightbox.

I'm frugal, so I can't see paying $175 for a double mylar lightbox when a 27x40 lightbox costs $170 from the same company off of Ebay.
If any of you are interested, I will be glad to make a light box for you, for less than $175 and less than $75 :-)

Glenise,

I think you may want to kiss me! I think I remember reading somewhere on this site that you are a young lady.

Here is why...
I went to Target today and asked about the martini light I talked with what I think is the manager of the department. The place you need to look is where they have the neon looking things and lava lamps. The best part about talking with this woman was that not only did she imediately know what I was talking about but she scanned the barcode and told me that the martini light is not on clearance and that it is an active item. The price is $19.95

Here my friend is probably the most important info I can give you 074 02 0408 it's the product #. I beleive she said it was targets product number #. I am going somewhere tomorrow that has a target near by, So I will check it out.
See if you can locate one, if not let me know I will try to help you out as well. For the price I might just by this instead of building a light box.

Also I found this light box should fit 3 5x25 mylars

Good Luck in the search

The martini lightbox is here on Ebay.
I was still wondering if I should get it because it's 10x10 supposedely.

I would rather have the other Todd Oldham lounge lightbox.
The Todd Oldham lightbox is 5x10 (I think)
I don't know.
Maybe I'll get the martini one.

Thanks for the info.
I'll try to get to a Target tomorrow and check again.

Here are several Todd Oldham martini lightboxes
(There used to be the Todd Oldham louge lightboxes about 3 weeks ago on Ebay. I guess I should have jumped on it)

Ed,

Another thing about the martini lightbox is that I wasn't sure if the beer and martini pictures slide out.
The lounge lightbox has inserts that are removable.
One cool thing about the martini box is that it's two sided.
I guess you could have two 5x12 mylars on one side and two on the other.
Since the martini box isn't 12"W, I assume you would have to trim the mylars.

I like this.
(Very tempted!)

Glenise,

I didn't realize that there were two diffrent ones at target. If they normally carry both I didn't see the lounge one or even ask about it. I actually thought that the one you posted a picture of was actually a martini glass.I was going by memory and maybe it was the fact that it has an olive with a toothpick through it.

Who knows maybe they only sell the one you picture above?

So can you give me thelink to that thread that you copied that picture from. I am going to do a search on ebay right now to see the martini one your talking about.

Chow for now!

They had both.
Several people at www.avsforum.com got the lounge one.

Here's a picture of the lounge mylar that one lucky guy got from Target.
(The lounge lightbox comes with 5 inserts)

http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/attac...chmentid=11513

http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/attac...chmentid=11524

A guy on the forum gave me a upc code but when I called a local Target, he had no idea what I was talking about.

Quote from guy on www.avsforum.com

"The lightbox is 12"w x 4"d x 5"h. It was in the Todd Oldham Home section at my local SuperTarget - Close to the picture frames.

The UPC Bar code # is 39298-00522. It uses a 25w candelabra bulb, but I only use a 7w night light bulb. I thought in a semi-dark room, it would be too bright with a 25w bulb.

Luckily, I received the mylars today, so I can show you a picture of the lightbox with two mylars. I had to cut the length about 1/8" and the two mylars overlap about the same.

You could also make your own signs using a transparency - maybe your home theater name.

Let me know if you need anything else."

The martini/beer lightbox was made out of metal w/no removable insert. It was about 9" or 10" square.

I thought about buying one of those as well.

I'm the person (female) whose double mylar image and box description is show above.

Well That's It!

I am going to actually start making mylar boxes and selling them. Man I know I could make them and sell them cheaper than $95 dollars shipped. When I get my mylars I am going to make a metal proto-type and post some pictures.

I wish I knew all the facts before I went to Target. I never knew there were two types sold at Target, and I didn't know that you would have to modify the mylars.

Even if I can't make one out of metal than I am sure anyone could make a box like the one david described out of wood for around $20.

Either way I will have a mylar box built in time for "Opening Night" Friday/Saturday Nov 7th/8th. movie showing "Finding Nemo"

See Ya

Rene or Renetick (AVSForum),

You go girl!
I'm female too and my avsforum name is pcdoctor.

Ed,

I guess I'll try to make my own box out of wood.
I did make a speaker stand for my center speaker.
That was easy because the wood was already cut and I just painted it and used four nails to put it together.
(no brainer).

Here is the speaker stand that I made.
Remember the wood was already cut.

If this pictures doesn't show up, just right click on the x, copy the website path then paste it paste it to your browser.
I have modified the stand so that the ends sticking off the front have been cut off.
I also think I found some other pieces of wood that was taller and I ended up using that but you get my point.
I guess I also took this picture before I painted it black.
Good luck making your boxes! The paint is drying on mine right now, and when I can get them hung I'll post pics of the final product. I hope you guys do the same!

Ed, I'm sending you a(nother) PM...
