Best 32"-36" HDTV monitor under $1500

Thread Starter
A friend is looking for a 32"-36" direct view HDTV monitor. He doesn't want to spend over $1500. He's considering the following sets:
Hitachi 36UDX10S-$1300
JVC AV-32P903-$1000
Sony KV-32HS510-$1300
Toshiba 32HFX73-$1400
Toshiba 32HF73-$1200
The prices are quotes from local shops. He does not want to buy online.
Thanks for any insight you can provide.

If your friend is willing to spend just $100 more, he can get the JVC I'Art 36" HDTV, model AV-36DF74, for $1599 at any retail store that carries them. This particular set is, IMO, quite a bit better in features and image quality than those sets you listed.

You might want to see if you can find the Sony KV-34XBR800 on close-out. I've heard rumors of people picking it up for around $1500 now that the new XBR910 is out.

The Toshiba's are in my mind the very best bang for the buck.

I got a Samsung TSL3294HF in 2001 and I haven't been disapointed since. I believe their current model is the TSL3295HF - but there's also a widescreen one within that price range too.

OK, this is the 3rd thread I seen today that is 4 or 5 years old. Please look at the dates before you reply. The OP hasn't even been here since 2004.

Can/should the mods prevent replies from these old threads?
