Vote for your top 5 shows you want FOX to release on DVD!

Just got 24 Season 2 in the mail today and it includes a new booklet advertising FOX's TV-on-DVD output. No series listed that aren't already available/announced, but there is an interesting box on the back page. It says in big letters "What FOZ TV shows do you want on DVD?" and directs you to www.foxhome.com/tv to vote, and get access to exclusive promotional offers. Shows listed include: Ally McBeal, Boston Public, Dharma and Greg, Greg the Bunny(!), John Doe, Millenium, Newhart, the Practice, the Pretender, Reality TV( ), Reba, the Simpsons (why is this listed?), Titus, Tracy Ulman Show, and Wonder Years. There are 25 total shows listed. You can vote for your top 5 (in order of preference. No options for choice of best of/season sets. This could be good for getting more FOX shows released on DVD.

My votes:
1.) GtB
2.) Tracy Ulman (for the Simpsons shorts)
3.) Boston Public
4.) Wonder Years (because I know it's a favorite here)
5.) Practice
Didn't vote for Simpsons because I didn't want to waste one of my votes on it. There's no way they won't keep releasing it in season sets. As their new ad booklet says, it's "the best-selling TV series of all time!"

Edit: after voting, it showed the ratings for each show so far (obviously not in real-time, since GtB, my #1, had a 0). Number 1 by far is Millenium with 55, nothing else has more than 19.3 (Time Tunnel). I don't know what the ratings are, but they're not percentages because adding them up, I get well over 200.

I went with the following...

1.) The Wonder Years
2.) Roswelll
3.) Greg the Bunny
4.) Bernie Mac

The Wonder Years is winning as of my votes with 50.1 raiting, with Millenium the closest with a 28.8.

Millennium! yes!!! I would trample the elderly for Seasons 1 and 2!

I'm torn now though, seeing as I'd love to get the Simpsons sets faster, I wonder if I should vote for them first. Other than Millennium and the Simpsons, the only other show I could see viewing repeatedly is maybe the Wonder Years.

Also, I hate to be a snob, but the voting site mispelled Millennium as "Millenium". Hopefully that's not a bad omen!

I'd love to see The complete Series of "Get a Life" on DVD. Did Fox sell those rights off the Rhino completely? Did they ever have home video rights in the first place. Anyone? I am reminded of this because I am pretty sure I spotted Chris Elliott in a town near where I live yesterday

Will, I, too, would like to get the entire run of Get a Life. I believe that is actually owned by Columbia, not FOX.

Went with:

1. Greg The Bunny
2. The Lone Gunmen
3. Newhart
4. Titus
5. Boston Public

... although I don't know if I'd really buy anything but the top 2, so I may be giving them bad data there.

And, wow, that's some commanding lead The Wonder Years has built up.

The Wonder Years!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Can it be? How is it that Fox can consider releasing something with such a high amount of music involved?

I mean it: The Wonder Years and Seinfeld are my dream DVD releases. It tickles me to see it in consideration.

EDIT: Here are the 5 I went with...

1.) The Wonder Years
2.) Newhart
3.) Chicago Hope
4.) Boston Public
5.) Greg the Bunny

Greg the Bunny
Lone Gunmen
Millenium
Time Tunnel
Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea

Ally McBeal is on there? Maybe it isn't as hopeless as we all assumed.

It's so hard to pick just five. I voted for Ally McBeal, John Doe, Lone Gunmen, Millennium and the Pretender, but given the chance, I would also like Bernie Mac, Greg the Bunny, Nothing Sacred, The Practice, Picket Fences, Time Tunnel, Titus and The Wonder Years.
I went with The Lone Gunmen (mispelled as "Gunman"), Millennium (also mispelled, as mentioned above), Harsh Realm (some will undoubtedly see a pattern here), The Wonder Years and just a security vote for The Simpsons (hurry, you ******!).

Would Columbia have any rights to it? I know Rhino has put out a couple of releases. Do they have exclusive rights. I think studios are starting to realize that the season sets are they way to go, even for series that ultimately failed so, I'm hoping

Brisco County, hello?
Brisco County Junior is Warner Brothers property.

Does anyone know which "Nothing Sacred" this is? The '97 ABC drama, or the Paul Provenza sitcom?

I voted for Newhart, which is the only one on the poll I really wanted. I picked the other 4 at random.
At least unlike Columbia, they show you how it's going. I'm quite depressed at Greg the Bunny's numbers
post #18 of 87
I'm very pleased with the results for The Wonder Years and I hope this will give FOX the much needed push to release it if possible. And if I find that anyone on this forum voted for Dharma and Greg I'm gonna...actually I don't know. Be disappointed I suppose. But Reba vs. D&G...I suppose you have to choose the greater of two evils.
Millennium!!!! I will also vote for Lone Gunmen. Other than that, not much out there for my interest...maybe Pretender. Better include myself in that vote to up Millennium's numbers.......I want all three seasons in my collection.
I picked:

1. Bernie Mac
2. Newhart
3. Nothing Sacred
4. Picket Fences
5. Wonder Years

Only interested in the first two, though.
The Wonder Years is gradually joining the ranks of the other shows, now around 38%.
Not really - it's still at least double everything else, except Nothing Sacred, which its 1.94 times.

Anyhow, it's very refreshing to know that Fox has the DVD rights to Wonder Years. They're a big studio, they support TV on DVD as much as anyone, and I'd count on them to do season sets right, with the original music. They may be expensive, but they'd be worth it.

I just wonder where did Fox having rights to The Wonder Years come from? Nice pleasant surprise. Hope they see the demand is well worth it.
1. Millennium
2. The Lone Gunmen
3. John Doe
4. The Pretender
5. Harsh Realm
surprised that Ally McBeal isn't higher on the list.

I'd go with

The Wonder Years
Ally McBeal
Picket Fences
Roswell
Millennium
Here are the current highest...

The Wonder Years 39.6
Nothing Sacred - 20
Newhart - 18
The Lone Gunman - 17
Roswell - 13.5
Millennium - 12.5
Ally McBeal - 11.9 (jumped a bit since I read the low score from before)
The Simpsons - 10
Greg The Bunny - 9.74
please place a vote for Millennium if you have any extra votes. thank you. it is my favorite show.
Never watched Millennium, voted for those who are fans. I figured...why vote for the simpsons, they're going to release those anyway...
I just voted for:
  1. The Wonder Years
  2. Millenium (sic)
  3. The Lone Gunmen
  4. The Time Tunnel (where's "Land of the Giants"??)
  5. Newhart
I would definitely buy the 1st four, and maybe some seasons of "Newhart".

And here's the Top Ten after my vote:
  1. The Wonder Years (33.6)
  2. Roswell (18.1)
  3. Nothing Sacred (17.5)
  4. Millenium (16.5)
  5. Newhart (15.8)
  6. The Lone Gunmen (15.2)
  7. Ally McBeal (13)
  8. The Simpsons (8.98)
  9. Greg The Bunny (8.79)
  10. Titus (7.71)

Big jump for "Roswell" - I expect this news has started to circulate through the online "Roswell" fan community.

I'm glad to see the support for "The Wonder Years". I expect Fox will want to see big numbers for this if they're going to pony up for the music rights (and if they're not, I'm not interested).

If they release "The Lone Gunmen", I wonder if they'll include the unfortunately prescient pilot episode, aired in early 2001, which featured
Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
an attempt to crash an airliner into the World Trade Center.

Lots of David Kelley shows on there. Although I've watched & enjoyed almost all of them in their original runs, something about his stuff just doesn't make them very re-watchable to me. Looks like most folks agree, other than "Ally" (which would be the only Kelley show I would consider buying).

Wow, you guys are already onto this poll! And here I was finally getting a few minutes to fill you all in.

Well, I voted for 1) Wonder Years, 2) Ally McBeal, 3) Titus, 4) Boston Public, and 5) Remington Steele.

There are others on that list I'd want, some perhaps more depending on the mood I'm in. But the mood I'm in right now, those choices suit me. And some of them are strategic (after all, when will I get another chance to really push Titus, which I super-enjoyed?).

I see I wasn't the only one who had a "zero" stay that way after I voted. And what's up with the numbers not adding up? I am really wondering what the system is that Fox (or their agency) is using to determine rankings. Probably grading on a curve, so that a "Choice #3" vote for a show doesn't count as much as a "Choice #1" vote for the same show.

As I mentioned in my TVShowsOnDVD article, I'm surprised by some of the items put on that list. I'm also surprised in many ways by what was left off. Not even a chance for St. Elsewhere or Hill Street Blues, among others? Ah well...next survey perhaps.
It's weird that everyone's saying that it's at zero. When I voted it showed me the actual results that were probably updated from whatever they were because it showed me exact numbers. I don't know how they're grading it either.
