Friday The 13th SEs/Box Set Info Coming on September 19th!? - Page 7

definetly should get joe bob involved with this.He made the documentary on the jason x dvd better than the film!I'd kill for the monstervision intros but that probably wouldn't happen unless New Line bought them up(New line owning everything Friday the 13th except the right to distribute the first 8 could put them up since monstervision was a TNT show and under Time Warner like New Line is). Anybody else up for a joe bob commentary that would rule.Man i miss monstervision.

As a new comer to this and the Nightmare series, I definitely can't wait for this box set, I just hope as others have said that the price point is a reasonable one.

The more material the better the value regardless of the price.

Looking forward to it.

I just want to keep this thread alive and support the efforts to restore all of the original eight FRIDAY THE 13TH films to their completely uncensored states.

All the rumors point to this set being released in Sept. 2004...

If thats the case, we could be possibly hearing the specs. within the next few months...

Paramount did say they would try to restore the uncut versions... They are definately looking for the reels... Thats known... Before this year, they always said they would not release uncut versions... So, that is actually very good news on that end...

I do believe that if they do have them that they will release them... I would hope we would get uncut for at least a few of them... All of them would be fantastic...

From what I have heard, so far Parts 4 and 7 have a pretty good chance of being uncut... I remember reading somewhere that Savini still had footage personally from Part 4... Hodder mentioned at a convention that 7 had a very good chance...

Believe it or not, we may not see Part 1 uncut... Warner Brothers owns the rights to the Uncut International Cut and Paramount does not...

Also, Paramount created a brand new print last year of Part 1 for that festival... I assume that will be the cut that is on DVD...

Personally, Part 1 is so easy to find uncut that it wouldnt bother me if it wasnt included... I would much rather have 2-8 as those have never been seen before...

I will wait until Paramount officially releases specs and release dates before getting too excited... I am also interested in what the box set will look like..

I've heard this before as a reason why Paramount wouldn't release Part 1 Uncut, and it doesn't really make mush sense to me. Doesn't Warner only own the international distribution rights to part one? Either way, Part 1 matters the least to me uncut. Seen some clips of them uncut, and they aren't all that much bloodier. Though I havent seen any clips of the female counsler's death from the beginning besides a picture in Fangoria.

The R3 (Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan) discs from Warner are NTSC and uncut. I own the Taiwanese disc. Note that they lack the commentary track that is present on the R2/R4 PAL releases, as the R3 releases were done a few months earlier.

I can not wait to hear the specs for this.
I have a high quality Video CD release of the first one. I think it's Chinese or Taiwanese.

According to Gorezone.com, "Tom [Savini]just finished recording all his behind the scenes stuff for the forthcoming FRIDAY THE 13TH box set, though he didn't go into any detail on them."

Still no specs or release date, but it's good to hear it's being worked on.

Matt,

I think that news is a couple months old...

Anyways, according to to the F13 site, this is expected to be a 9 DVD set... The 8 movies in *SE* form and the 9th disc will be for supplements like interviews, etc...

Kinda, around post #145 it was established he had been contacted to work on the set, but he has now said he's finished working on it. Either was it's good news.

9 discs would be awesome, I'm expecting this to at least match the Nightmare box in terms of quality!

I liked the Nightmare set, but I'm hoping the F.T.T. set ups it a bit. The 8th disc was good in the Nightmare set, but the actual movie DVDs (With the exception of the original and New Nightmare which had commentary) were bare bones. I'm hoping for something a bit more than just a boxed set with a bonus disc. I kind of wish on the Nightmare boxed set they just put the extras with their respective movie discs. But I guess the way they did it was more economical for New Line (7 DVD-5s and 1 DVD-9 as opposed to 7 DVD-9s)

So is there any chance we could get a 3-D version of F.T.T. Part 3. I suppose both versions could be done on a single DVD-9 since the film is only about 90 min. Unless, of course, the 3-D version takes too much to compress.

I dont really know if they would include F13 3D... They could put it on I guess, but you would still need to buy the equipment and glasses to view it which could be 100's of dollars... Maybe even 1000's if you want the best of the best...

Regular 3D glasses just wont work... Freddys Dead used regular glasses and IMO the DVD 3D wasnt good at all... It didnt even really work... The quality wasnt even good when I saw the movie in the theater back in 1991...

I have never seen F13 3D, but have heard that the quality was suppose to be pretty damn good and that it really did add to the movie.

It's a process that requires special glasses, etc... But, they could put the 3D option for those who dont mind buying the extra equipment seperately if they can afford to...

About the Nightmare box set... I didnt really care for it... The Nightmare Encyclopedia was a wasted opportunity IMO... There were no deleted scenes, uncut scenes, workprint footage, etc. even though all of this exists... A lot of it was filler IMO that I just didnt have interest in... Nightmare 1 had a very good Laserdisc in the mid 90's with the uncut version and a bunch of deleted scenes... None of this even made the DVD set...

Nightmare 3 and 5 were also cut to avoid X or NC-17... Neither appears uncut on the set even though prints of both still exist... Nightmare 4 and Freddys Dead have workprint versions that change the entire tone of the movies... Neither were made available... I am personally interested more in uncut material, the deleted scenes, alternative versions, etc. than I am with the stuff that appeared in the Nightmare set...

I've only seen Friday the 13th part I. Haven't gotten around to watching them so Netflix is a good option for me to brush up on the Jason Voorhes thing. Did I spell the last name of the main villain correctly?

Actually, I read that the alternate endings for Nightmare I were included in the bonus disc, hidden in the labrynth somewhere. I've never actually seen it to be certain though.

And you're right, the DVD of Nightmare 5 was the edited "R" rated version. The unrated, uncut version was available on video. I used to own it.

I never heard that the third one was cut. Any idea on what it included originally?

Anywho, I would definitely like to see better work done on the Friday the 13th box set, although I'd be satisfied if we only got completely uncut versions of all eight films.
Matt,

The 3rd one has never been made available uncut... It was discussed in a 1987 issue of Fangoria... I am not sure specifically what was cut out, but there were things cut out...

Many horror films have had entire subplots, death scenes, etc. removed... Many which are not really known about... For example, I recently just found out about a 3rd act of the movie April Fools Day with a real killer that was filmed... This was in the book and original script, but I had no idea they actually filmed it... It all takes place after the original ending... One rumor is the only reason it was cut was due to time... It would have made the movie about 2 hours long or so...

Japan had an old copy of Nightmare 1 uncut that included Freddy blowing Tina the kiss of death that most people have never seen... I have never seen this... I dont believe that made the laserdisc, but I could be wrong...

Like you, I would be more than happy if these movies were just released uncut as the original script, director, etc. intended them... Throw the unnecessary deleted scenes (that were cut on purpose) and trailers as extras... I would be happy...

Interviews, commentaries, supplements, etc. are nice, but I could live without them... It's not really stuff I would ever watch more than once if ever anyways...

I also just found out about the extended ending of April Fool's Day. Interesting twist, it was.

Also, there were some deleted scenes from Wes Craven's New Nightmare that didn't make the DVD. They weren't cut as per the MPAA, just scenes that Craven removed.

What was the Other ending for April Fools Day?
I have a feeling they might also have avoided the real killer ending of April Fools Day because the "twist" ending that movie has now was kind of original...

I think it would be interesting to see the alternate 'real killer' ending, but it's really fun watching the current version, and it's really all that makes it stand out.

I finally tracked down a copy of the region 2 friday the 13th , and indeed it is uncut !The picture quality is unreal for a movie thats almost a quarter century old, nice extras too! Happy to have finally have this in my collection. I never owned the region 1 part 1, but i imagine the picture quality is on the region 2 alot better, judging from part 2,and 3 that i have on region 1 versions. Also on the subject of the deleted tina scene where freddy blows her a kiss, cant remember where i read it, but it was supposed to be an extra when the specs for the nightmare box set were first announced, but for some reason got scrapped.
What is that "Nightmare" Deleted Scene all about?
Post 199 explains the deleted scene.
So that's really all it is? Freddy, blowing Tina a Kiss?
Yes, thats all it is.But i still wish they would release it, for completeness sake.
I've read that the region 1 F13th DVD is actually slightly better than the Region 2 version, only slightly.
Here is the difference between the region 1 and region 2 F13th DVD quality... I do think the region 1 is a little better in quality personally, but both are still good... Taken from horrordvds.com

Region 1 followed by Region 2...
