Memento.

It's very interesting to see how people get different feelings out of a movie. Memento, for example, makes me feel very sad. I find the whole movie gloomy and maybe because I have always been uncomfortable with the thought of different possibilities and kinds of mental traps and vicious circles that one's mind can fall into; I feel sorry each time I watch that film. I still think it's a good movie though.

Definately THE RAINMAKER!

I never get tired of watching this movie. Makes me feel good to see the little good guy beat the big bad guys against all odds.

Good performances by all involved and great cast (Matt Damon, Danny DeVito, John Voight, Danny Glover, etc, etc).

Spirited Away

And I have to confess I get a little gushy at Lilo and Stitch, especially the part when she says, "Oh good! My dog found the chain saw!" I guess we all have our guilty pleasures.

I think my fave "happy" movie has already been mentioned: Amelie.
It's the very best "feel-good" film I've ever seen. That's the very premise of the film, so no wonder...

Great fun, and beautiful. I think everyone can relate to this film in one way or another.

I'd have to separate out movies that leave me happy because they are so funny and movies that make me smile because they are heart-warming.

A few of each:

Funny: Office Space, Billy Madison, Zoolander
Heart Warming: Love Actually, The American President

AMERICAN GRAFFITI

The Deer Hunter, Full Metal Jacket, Deliverence and Platoon.

I'm kidding.

No, I agree with just about every film mentioned and i'll add Before Sunrise and Before Sunset, two of the most extraordinary, not to mention frighteningly realistic, films about young love ever caught on film.

A special mention for me must be made about E.T., I have never felt such utter joy and relief during a film in my life! When the spiral doors of his ship close and it lifts off taking him home...I still lose it to this day.

-"Back To The Future"

-"The Little Mermaid"

-"Scarface" (This is one of those movies that causes me to jump up and down excitedly...It's partially out of excitement, but for the most part it's a stim that's related to my Aspergers' Syndrome)

-"Lethal Weapon" (I chose this because of a happy memory it relates to. It was Spring of 2001, my final year of high school. One weekend, me, my best friend, his then-girlfriend and one of my brother's friends went a few towns over, ordered some Dominos' Pizza, came back home and watched this movie on the Superstation. Considering that I really don't talk to my friend anymore [We don't hate each other...We're busy with our own lives now], it's nice to have this memory of him.)

-The first two "Beverly Hills Cop" movies

-"South Park: Bigger, Longer And Uncut"

-"National Lampoon's Animal House"

-"National Lampoon's Vacation" and "Christmas Vacation" (The odd-numbered "Vacation" movies have the most laughs...The even-numbered ones are lousy as Hell).

-Any "Monty Python" movie

-"Trading Places"

-Any of the first 3 Muppet movies

-"The Wizard Of Oz"

-"Tiny Toon Adventures: How I Spent My Vacation"

Sincerely,

John Kilduff...

It makes me feel good.

Amelie, Before Sunrise/Sunset, Dead Poet's Society, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Almost Famous, and Airplane always manage to bring a smile to my face.
