| It's not like this is some brand new film on DVD that was in theaters 3 months ago, so why try to attract casual buyers with a stupid critic's quote? |
If anything, it's not the 3-month old films that need to attract casual buyers on the video shelves. 3-month old films are already recognizable to casual buyers. It's the older films that need to get an extra boost, such as an attractive critical quote.
Quote:
| Who cares what some critic said about this thing 19 yrs ago? |
The same people who care what a critic said 19 minutes ago. What does it matter how old the quote is? It's referring to a movie, not making a timely political joke. It doesn't say "This film is as scary as Dan Quayle is a bad speller." It's a broad opinion about a film, and it has no expiration date. If movie quotes are useful at all, then quotes from the reviews issued at the time of the film's release are some of the best.
