I know someone involved in the film and he said he's been approached about doing an interview for the special features and/or to be part of a commentary track. What this means is they haven't started dealing with the extras yet (or at least that part of the extras). I'd find it hard to believe they could do commentaries, shoot interviews and get this whole thing packaged and ready before the end of the year. My guess would be summer 2005."
I wonder who that "someone" could be. No matter. If this is reliable info, then it would seem 2004 is out of the picture at this point (as I said, Peter Staddon made no promises about it).
David Prior stated Cronenberg was onboard for the commentary, and that was a while ago. Better to spend enough time on the SE to ensure a quality release, methinks.
The Criterion Videodrome DVD was a fantastic presentation of that film. It was really laid out well in every area (extras, menus, packaging, etc.). The *only* ommission was deleted scenes and such, and that was at Cronenberg's request.
