I would like to include THE SNAPPER and THE VAN along with THE COMMITTMENTS as they comprised Roddy Doyle's Barrytown Trilogy, and, all three star the superb Colm Meaney.

I also nominate THE QUIET MAN.

Are you including all Celts?

The reason I ask is that I Know Where I'm Going! takes place in Scotland, with mostly Scottish characters.

If so I'll nominate
Braveheart
The Wicker Man
Rob Roy

I thought it was an island off the Irish coast. Lord Kilaeren is an Irish name isn't it? Doesn't look like it will make it in either way.

I thought it was an island off the Irish coast.

It took place in the Hebrides off the western Scottish coast.

Lord Kilaeren is an Irish name isn't it?

Its a Gaelic name.

Well, there isn't much point in expanding the criteria since we only need to fill one more slot. With that in mind, I dropped I Know Where I'm Going! from the noms list. I'll start this tourney on Monday morning so perhaps we can get a few more films seconded and thirded for use as wild cards.

Here's some Irish trivia for you:

In the legend of the Fianna, what was the Land of Eternal Youth?

Thanks for the corrections. I never got around to buying I Know Where I'm Going! so I've only seen it once and my memory was fuzzy.

Okay, we have our 16 and it's a pretty solid list. I'll have the first brackets up in the morning. Feel free to continue seconding and thirding the remaining nominations and we'll see if we can't come up with a wild card list.

The answer to the last trivia question was Tir Na Nog.

And here we go...

Round 1 - Bracket 1

Odd Man Out vs. Patriot Games

My vote: Odd Man Out - Easily.

Irish trivia:

Who was the first High King of Ireland?

and

What are the Twelve Bens?
