Frequency waterfall charts of a few familiar favourites - Page 18

Re: Frequency waterfall charts of a few familiar favourites

Tom Danley (one of the actual geniuses in audio) has posted on his site a cool recording he made of fireworks on 7/4. Supposedly, the dynamic range and extension is truly amazing...and damaging! I'd love to see a plot of the final minute.

Re: Frequency waterfall charts of a few familiar favourites

Hi Jack... I've been playing with this and got the e-mail and a call from Tom about their posting of this yesterday.

This will certainly ratttle the house and you can clip most any system with it.

BE CAREFULL!

When Tom first made the recording he analyzed parts of it and found the whole track to have a dynamic range of ~70dB and a peak to average ratio of around 40dB.

Tom said the bursts at the end have a wide mound of energy that was at a maximum at 25Hz but still equal at 50Hz and 10Hz.

On my system it is a very "moving" experience in the house. The precussive effect is very realistic if your system has good response and extension. Tom pushede the volume of the last minute of the track so it peaks just shy of 0dB on the digital scale. Again, play this at a lower level before turning it up.

A friend of ours has a very nice HD camera setup, so maybe next year we could have some more fun and add video.

Got it yesterday...still havent seen it. Didnt get a chance last night to watch cause my dad was ripping it to a iPod.

I heard it has a 6.1 dts track. Wonder if its discrete or ES.

The version I have (got it on loan from a friend) is 6.1 DTS ES. I would love to see some charts on that, that movie gave my SVS a workout.

Sooo...just wanted to tell everyone over here that, after many years of waiting, I am plotting my own graphs.

Just some random stuff.

Check out my first post and the dozen or so plots Ive created already...

Mark Seaton: That fireworks recording is indeed impressive! It will be so quiet, then all of a sudden there will be a powerful explosion and bass burst. Definitely start your volume off very low and work up slowly to see how loud you want to play it.

Now all I need to do is make a nice presentation and put a lot hard working effort into it.

Re: Frequency waterfall charts of a few familiar favourites

Here’s one from “The Day After Tomorrow” (2007).

I like the (slam from the LFE.1) where Sam, turns around to see the rush of water heading towards him! It’s a nicely crafted Dolby mix that works well with the story.

There’s a moment coming up in the film that I might A&B against thou I guess the one from (1996) will have the hardest and loudest.

Well I always practice caution that’s how my subs have managed to last the course of time and I’m not about to become careless, is this download simple and I’m not sure which one it is as I see several on the page. Danley Sound Labs - Technical Downloads

Here’s a Psycho98-acoustic one, that may not be trilling but it scares me enough, with the plucks of the stings beating against the sofa.
