Sound like a great product at less than $200. Bye Bye Tivo.

I find this a very interesting product, particularly at this price point, but its a long way from making me want to scrap my Tivo.

For me, the extended guide data, key word search functions, and the ability to auto-record based on those criteria make Tivo a lot more than just a VCR replacement. I also like the occasional downloaded promo stuff (the BMW films and extended Austin Powers trailers and such) are fun to get, even if they are really advertising disguised as entertainment.

Of course, those things may or may not matter to some users.

Now, if Apex could put in a really usable, extended guide (and it MUST be search-able), and make it no-fee, now thats a horse of a different color.

The Apex is even less of a option if you have DirecTV. This thing cannot compete with a DirecTivo unit.
