Why Lex cannot hate Clark on Smallville....

I have been watching Smallville and the one of the things I was thinking about was what happens when Lex goes bad. And while it will happen. I don't think he would hate Clark. If Lex really hated Clark. With one phone call he could destroy the Kents (ie-call in a loan, etc). I think a better way would be him becoming more distant and cold. He doesn't hate Clark. He just doesn't care about him.

Oh, he can hate him but just not make his feelings know.

Intead he could pretend to be his friend and manipulate things in the background. That's part of Lex's emerging personality.

Believe me, I'm familiar with this strategy, as several women have practiced it on me.

Moe.

In this retelling of Superman Who Knows but it's always Been Superman that Luthor has hated not Clark. In this version Lex suspects Clark of Hiding a secret and at some point he will become increasingly distant, and why do I get the feeling it may be over his emerging love Helen? Will Clark have to choose between saving her or Lana? And will Helen fall victim to this? Who knows but I sure love Smallville it's consistantly the best thing my tivo records.

Or you could accept the fact that the series was not created with a full understanding of the Superman history, thus opening up the opportunity for several major flaws.

Since they're creating their own Superman history here, I don't see how this coud be an issue.

I think Lex will grow further and further away from Clark, and may even resent Clark, when it comes time for Clark to do something and Clark chooses not to, or can't due for some unforeseen reason.

But here is a possible spoiler for season 3 regarding Lois Lane(Chloe's cousin)

Clark and Lois hate each other from the get go and all through out college

I would'nt mind seeing Clark meet a younger Bruce Wayne, but I really don't see a need to have him meet the likes of Lois, Jimmy, or Mr. White. In fact meeting them now kinda cheapens meeting them later in his life. I think Chloe and Lana are enough for Clark to worry about for the time being.

funny thing about Mr. White future rumor

They say that Mr. White will be a struggling reporter trying to make it big, and that he will make a few apperances somewhere in the Smallville history

Or it could be like Magneto and Prof. X... they know so much about each other that they live in a careful equilibrium of respect and hatred. They can't really attack each other directly, but they still try.

It would have been nice to have a travelling Bruce Wayne make his way to Smallville, but if I remember correctly, there were a bunch of legal issues that kept the future Dark Knight from making an appearance.

I don't think they should over do it in having familiar characters make appearances in Smallville. As much as I love Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
Chewbacca
making an appearance in Star Wars: Episode III, it seems that almost everyone who appeared in the original trilogy is making an appearance in the new trilogy. It just looses its effect.

There's plenty of other characters they could bring into Smallville. They could have The Flying Graysons come do a show in Smallville. They don't have to play a major part in the episode. They can just be there for show. They could have a Green Lantern show up in a the last few episodes of the series help give Clark some ideas for his Superhero job. If they can avoid any legal issues, then it'll be more fun if they stay away from Superman characters. The DC universe is too big for Superman to be running into the same people he ran into as a teenager.

Personally,
I'd like to see a NEW Superman movie made with everbody from Smallville TV show, in about 10yrs or so, when they are the right age.

If

Helen
does die, I'd like Lex to get a permanent Miss Tessmocker(spell?)
not too sure if I want lex to have a Otis type of sidekick in Smallville

I would at least like them to mention in passing that their are superheroes in the world. Although, in the pilot they showed Lionel reading a newspaper that had a headline "Millionaire Oliver Queen lost at sea". Oliver Queen while trapped on a deserted island becomes proficient with the bow and arrow and when he is rescued becomes Green Arrow.
