Yes, you should see some real movies of her and then judge her!

I knew I should have qualified my statement by admitting Watts has a nice rack. Then again, after doing a Google search it looks like she may have been augmented at some point.

If she had been augmented before 21 Grams then it was a pretty subtle augmentation.
But I'm not just referring to the nudity, she gave one hell of a performance in that film.

Eh. Costs seem to be going up on movies. Maybe it's inflation, but it seems $200M is the new $100M.

I'm looking forward to this -- I just hope they totally junked the last script. Having Jack Driscoll jump in a plane and try to fight off the bi-planes attacking Kong is the wrong way to go. IMO.

The Dominion Post uses New Zealand Dollars in its stories. The 200 million Dollars (New Zealand) converts to about 130 million Dollars (US).

130 mil......it still seems a lot for the fairly simple Kong story I know so it will be very interesting to see what Jackson & co. have in mind.

Huh? CGI Kong and other Skull Island creatures, Skull Island itself, and 1930's New York City seem to me to be a bargain at $130 million.

LOTR had much more opulent epic set pieces, epic battles, casts of thousands to clothe etc. etc. and those movies cost roughly 100 mil per film (now that was a bargain), I still say, considering the basic story of Kong, they must have some interesting ideas in mind.

That $100 million was an average per film which is different. They were able to save a lot of money by filming things simultaneously. Had each movie been filmed seperately like most films and I bet that $100 million figure would go way up.

Also, I think I read that by the end New Line gave PJ pretty much carte blance in realizing his vision and the estimated budget on ROTK ended up being significantly higher.

$130M isn't that much. For instance, the first Spider-Man cost the same and most of it was shot in ordinary locations and sets with only 3 or 4 action pieces. By contrast, the sequel cost $200M.

Even if the final budget of each LOTR film was 150 I can still see that in realistic terms considering the massive scale of the story's plot & setting, but I still say that they must have something rather different in mind than the original Kong's basic story line required, recreating 1930's NY and Scull Island (or whatever you wish to call it) and the creatures is going to cost a lot of cash, yes, but in NZ considering the facilities that they already have at the ready 130 million will go a looong way.....again, it will be interesting to see what they have up their sleaves.

That's a bit of a stretch (not knowing the setup) but I guess they made it due to Brody's unaction hero-like physique. How does a playwright fit in? Is Jack supposed to be taking a vacation?

I raised an eyebrow at that as well. Far cry from a WWI flying ace, as Driscoll was in the old Jackson/Walsh Kong draft that's still floating around on the net. They said they were completely rewriting the thing, and I guess they weren't kidding.

For my part, I'm very happy with all the casting (yes, even Jack Black). Brody is a terrific actor, above all, and I don't doubt he'll do a good job. If LOTR should have taught us anything, it's to trust PJ's casting.

Driscoll could be in the employ of Denham related to his movie-making (if that is still the nature of Denhams character).

the more i think about it, the Black seems like an inspired choice to me.
he has a very theatrical, 'showmans' personality, especially in his Tenacious D mode.
he could either be a dud or hit the part out of the park.
we'll have to see.


Jackson remaking the original movie using todays effect technology and a 100+ million budget didn't inspire me or get me looking forward to this.
all that plus the cast he has in place does though.
this is going to become a very anticipated film for me now, i think.

Is it just me or does it look like PJ has dropped some weight in those above photos? Anyway i am really looking forward to this Kong remake. I loved what PJ did with LOTR so i have pretty high hopes for KK.

Me too. I don't understand the general dislike of Black's casting. He's not the lead, he's the film director, a showman, an extravagent adventurer who brings marvels of the world to people in New York. The 1997 script described him as a cross between Orson Welles and John Ford. I can see Black filling that role perfectly.

Yeah all these behind the scenes updates are great. Wow, it's really getting me back into the mood of anticipating a movie like a fanboy (like I was for LOTR ). I can now say I check Kong Is King several times a day just like TORn.

PJ rocks.

Peter Jackson is letting us watch him do the remake with video almost days after it happens.
It's like an open Set. Actors, Crew and Location all on video. Check out why they don't need storyboards anymore, budget problems on a day to day basis. Lot of fun.

I've been checking that site now for a few weeks, and I really enjoy it. I loved the whole "Gandalf spy on the set" thing. Also, having just seen the original King Kong on TCM, I have to say I can really see Jack Black in that role as the adventurer with the bravado, who frankly, is a bit of an ass.
