Since the "tall alien" was just one of many experiments they had done with how to present the aliens, Tall boy being a marionette, they seem to have used the best shots they had of the puppet experiments and moved on to the little girls in suits footage....I think they way they cut it together does in fact add a bit of "magic" to the affair and explanations IMO aren't needed as these are after all
Aliens and their behavior and physical design shouldn't be instantly knowable to us.
That's the way I see it anyway.
