DVD Thinpak and other Slim Cases - Page 8

Cool!

I need about 15 3's...lemme know if we can get a group sale toegther...
Wade, I could use a slim 5-discer for The Godfather Trilogy.
I'm still confirming a few things about the 3-DVD holders, but should make an order in the next few days. I'll definitely have a several extra of each, but unsure of exactly how many. If they turn out to be good product, maybe we could set up a group buy.
Wade - find out the price for 15 3's...i will paypal you the money before you make the purchase...
Looking back over my collection, I could probably use a couple of slim 6-discers, too.

I also have no problem paypal-ing you in advance of your order...

Andrea, YGM.

Michael, YGM too.

Well, we should see how these cases are pretty soon. I just about fainted when i saw the freight cost from Australia (120 AUS$=82 US$), which is nearly half the cost. I guess you have to pay if you want the coolest looking, and hopefully performing, cases.

I did one of those ebay auctions and got myself some of those 3 disc Super thin buggers!

This may not interest anyone else, but I made a cover to house my Jurassic Park DVDs. I don't have the bonus disk that came with the boxset because I had bought the earlier two movies before the Trilogy set was released.

Here's a shot of it...

And you can download it from my site.

So far, I'm also housing the Back to the Future Trilogy, Brazil, and plan on getting to the 3 Disc Cleopatra and Three Colors Trilogy.

These things are great! Between these and my ongoing replacement of snapper covers for Thin-pak cases, I am starting to regain some valuable shelf space!

Nice JP cover, Ric!

Here's my list of what I've converted (or am converting) to slim 3-disc cases:

Back to the Future Trilogy
Black Hawk Down: Deluxe Edition
Brotherhood of the Wolf (Canadian Edition)
Cleopatra
Dune: Special Edition Director's Cut
Fantasia Anthology
Jin-Roh: The Wolf Brigade (Special Edition)
Minority Report (with Best Buy extra disc)
Sex and the City: Season 2
Sex and the City: Season 3
Sex and the City: Season 4
Toy Story: The Ultimate Toy Box
The Ultimate Carson Collection (Volumes 1-3)
I'll probably add the Dune miniseries as well, but I like all those nice pix on the original packaging.

I'm also converting The Fantasia Anthology and The Ultimate Toy Box set. There is already a Fantasia Anthology cover sized for a single at DVD Cover Art. So that was a little less work.

I'm trying to think of what else...

Maybe an Austin Powers set? Combine Clerks with the Animated 2 Discer? Animatrix with the upcoming Reloaded? And I'll probably resize my combined Ultimate and Extreme Terminator cover.
The Ultimate Toy Box would be great! I would love get my hands on that when you're done.
Just finished it, Andrea. It's nothing special, just a reworking of the box set. You can download it here.

Time to buy some more DVDs!

Ric
Thanks, Ric. Looks great. I had my ultimate toy box in 3 thinpaks, but it'll be nice to have them together again and in a slim case.

I might have to do the same with my Fantasia Anthology, which I currently have in thinpaks, after having a look at your picture above. Off to dvdcoverart...
Ric, any chance you could post your Three Colors conversion? I've started one, but am not pleased with how it's coming out.
It's nothing special. Just a slimming down of the box...

You can Download it here.

Thanks Ric!

So has a vendor been found for those slim 5 & 6 disc cases?

-Dave
Not that I've found. I have an order somewhere between Australia and here including the 5's and 6's, so I hope to report on their quality whenever they get here.
Let us know when they get here, Wade. I'd love to get my hands on some.
Was there ever a source found for the single width 3 dvd cases besides Ebay auctions? I'd like to put up a link for them on my site, as well as all other case variations.

If you guys know of any good links besides InetDVD and US Plastic Corp, please pass them on to me. BTW, I was just looking over InetDVD and they are out of stock on an awful lot of cases, I hope they are not getting out of the case biz.

Thanks,
Ric

There's a somewhat uglier version of the slim triples at

http://www.genesysdtp.com/dvdcase.htm

I say "uglier" because the "swing page" is not shaped like an "8" capable of holding 2 discs but rather, it's simply a rectangular page which holds one (the other two are on each wing of the case). Personally I'd prefer the "8" shape.

Actually personally I'd prefer the whole thing to be in clear plastic, but that doesn't exist yet.
I haven't seen any other of the "8" style of 3-DVD holders, apart from ebay and the place I ordered from in Australia. (Still waiting for it and going nuts...it must take a while for some modes of shipment).

Will-- from the pictures I saw, the internal flaps on the ones I ordered are at least translucent, if not clear, so it might be possible to use the flaps from those and put them in a clear double-Amaray. Of course, I can't find any of those anywhere either.
Good news, my packages arrived from Australia today. I'll post my impressions of the various cases sometime after I get home today.
Well, I'm very satisfied with the order. The 3-DVD cases are similar to the ones being sold on ebay, apart from the '8' hub being translucent/clear colored on most of them.

The big thing for me is the cases for 4-6 DVDs. They're all identical sizewise (about 15/16" spine...even smaller than the Slim-4's being sold in the States) and the only way to identify them from the outside is a number imprinted on the side stating the number of discs (on the inner part...an insert would cover it up). Inside, each has two of the '8' swing flaps in the same translucent/clear color. The 5-DVD has a hub on the back side, and the 6-DVD has a hub on both the front and back sides. The hubs used are the type that looks like 4 arrows pointing towards the middle of a circle. Both the 4-DVD and 5-DVD cases have clips for booklets/inserts, while the 6-DVD does not. (my only gripe)

Build quality seems to be very good, as all made it intact. I'll try to get some pictures up as soon as I can find a place to host them. The whole concept of these cases seems like it would work nicely for even larger capacity cases.

I have to contact a few people I ordereed some extras for first, but should have a few extras of all sizes after that I'll sell at cost if anyone's interested.
Wade, I'd be interested in some of whatever size you might have left over.

Thanks,

-Dave
Wade,

I'd be happy to host the images for you (as well as take some of those cases off your hands).
Here are some pictures from Wade. One picture compares a Nexpak Slim-4, a new 6-DVD, and a regular 6-DVD Alpha. The other is an inside shot.

Thanks for hosting Andrea.

Dave F. -- I should have plenty of 4's and 5's and maybe a few 6's. I'll get in touch with you this weekend.
Hmm I'm intrigued by the Slim 6 cases it would help alot of the awful digipack tv product I'm getting. Where are these available?
