Re: Iron Man (New Line sets 2005 release date)

This is not Ultimate Universe Iron Man! If they are making Ultimate Movies then I would say ok use Jackson! But don't mix the two universes! The Galactus cop out in FF was enough!!!!

Well, just cause they're using Samuel L. Jackson does NOT mean that they are going with the Ultimate Fury storyline. They used Michael Clarke Duncan as Kingpin cause he simply matched the part... probably same with Jackson.

You're right, they're not making Ultimate Iron Man, but the point is, they're not making the 616 Iron Man either. Just like X-Men, Fantastic Four, and every other Marvel movie of the last decade, they are creating a new, unique continuity. Iron Man is similar to the original version of the character, but Nick Fury is going to be based on the Ultimate Nick Fury. Personally, I think Sam Jackson as Nick Fury is great.

Re: Iron Man (New Line sets 2005 release date)

Doing a small bit of research I read that Marvel had actually gotten written permission to model Ultimate Fury after Jackson.

I think the idea is for this character to bounce around in other Marvel films as well.

Re: Iron Man (New Line sets 2005 release date)

It looks more like a promo for a new drama series debuting this fall on CBS. Robert Downy, Jr. stars as the hotshot member of a new tactical branch funded by the government to stomp out terrorism. Gwyneth Paltrow is his partner who's wary of his judgment, especially now that he's dealing with a substance abuse problem and trouble at home. Jeff Bridges plays the tough as nails director, and Terrence Dashon Howard has a supporting role as the military adviser who's just waiting for Downey to slip up.

Seriously, that's what I get out of the picture, but otherwise, it looks good.

Guess you don't want David Hasselhoff back as Nick Fury!

A friend of mine just texted me from Comic Con. She said they showed the Iron Man trailer and that it was awesome! Hopefully she is right.

Re: Iron Man (New Line sets 2005 release date)

Is the trailer near release? I am nearly as excited for this as I am The Dark Knight. Not quite that level, but it's in my top 3 summer films of interest.

Edit: Forgot Wall-E

Apparently Favreau made this trailer exclusively to be shown at Comic-Con only and it's not going to be released in theaters or on the net(unless someone "bootlegged" it of course).

Picture on Empire cover makes it look like Iron Man has a receding hairline...

Re: Iron Man (New Line sets 2005 release date)

This flick has quickly vaulted into the same "must see" category as The Dark Knight and Indy IV. Looks AWESOME!

Re: Iron Man (New Line sets 2005 release date)

This sounds great. But I must say, I would like to see the release from Marvel of their original Iron Man cartoon on DVD. In fact, I would like to see Spiderman and The Incredible Hulk, as well.

Re: Iron Man (New Line sets 2005 release date)

Comic-con trailer looks to be pullled already for rights infringement.

Found it elsewhere. Looks promising. Hope Jon can keep that edge and give us a strong plot/character development with it.

The article also says they showed the Iron Man preview twice due to fan reactions!!

Why couldn't I have gone?!?!?! Here's MSN's recap if you're interested: http://movies.msn.com/movies/article.aspx?news=270397
